This graduation thesis «Interior of the Russian artist’s estate of the second half of the XIX - beginning of the XX century (based on the example of the Leningrad Region's museum complexes)» was written by Statsenko Alevtina Andreevna, student of the History Institute of St. Petersburg State University. The purpose of this work is to consider the nature of the formation of the studio as a specific part of the interior of the artist’s estate of the second half of the XIX - beginning of the XX century. This research is based on the example of the Leningrad region’s museum complexes: the house museum of P. P. Chistyakov, the Repin’s memorial estate «Penates» and the estate of N. K. Roerich in Izvara. The author analyzes sources and historiography on this subject; considers the Russian estate culture as a historical and cultural phenomenon of the second half of the XIX century; traces construction history of the artist’s country houses. Cutting-edge advances in hydrogen applications for the medical and pharmaceutical industries

No full text

The adoption of clean hydrogen is expected to transform the global energy landscape, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, bridging gaps in renewable energy integration, and driving innovation across multiple sectors. In the medical and pharmaceutical industries, hydrogen offers unique opportunities for transformative progress. This review critically examines recent advances in three domains: hydrogen fuel cells as reliable, scalable, and sus tainable energy solutions for hospitals; molecular hydrogen as a therapeutic and preventive medical gas, particularly for brain disorders; and hydrogenation technologies for the efficient and sustainable pharmaceutical production. Despite encouraging advancements, widespread adoption remains limited by economic constraints, regulatory gaps, and limited clinical evidence. Addressing these barriers through technological innovation, large- scale studies, and life-cycle sustainability assessments is essential to translate hydrogen’s full potential into clinical and industrial practice. Responsible adoption of green hydrogen is poised to reshape the clinical approach to global health and enhance the quality of life for people worldwide.
Bioekonomikos tyrimų institutas / Bioeconomy Research InstituteVytauto Didžiojo universitetas / Vytautas Magnus UniversityŽemės ūkio akademija / Agriculture Academ

The Evolving Role of Cryosurgery in Breast Cancer Management: A Comprehensive Review

No full text
Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed type of cancer, accounting for approximately one in eight cancer diagnoses worldwide. In 2020, there were approximately 2.3 million new cases of breast cancer globally, resulting in around 685,000 deaths. Consequently, there is an ongoing need to develop innovative therapeutic approaches that can improve both clinical outcomes and patient quality of life. The use of ultra-low cryogenic temperatures, facilitated by cryogenic media such as liquid nitrogen, has revolutionized the biomedical field and opened up new possibilities for advanced clinical treatments, including cryosurgery. Cryosurgery has demonstrated its feasibility as a minimally invasive technique for destroying breast tumors and eliciting a significant antitumor immune response in the host. This feature sets cryosurgery apart from other ablative techniques. It has been shown to be well tolerated and effective, offering several advantages such as simplicity, the avoidance of general anesthesia, minimal pain, low morbidity, short recovery time, cost-effectiveness, and notably, improved aesthetic outcomes. The reviewed studies indicate that cryosurgery holds promise in the management of early-stage breast cancer and metastatic disease, especially in triple-negative and Her2-positive molecular subtypes in conjunction with checkpoint inhibitors and anti-Her2 antibodies, respectively. Furthermore, the effectiveness of cryosurgery in the management of ductal carcinoma in situ should be investigated as an alternative modality to surgery or surveillance. The minimally invasive nature of cryosurgery has the potential to significantly enhance the quality of life for patients

ABSURDITIES IN PEDAGOGICAL TEXTS

No full text
The article is devoted to the language of pedagogical science. As a basic material, the author considers the published dissertation summaries on pedagogy. To attract the attention of the scientific community to this issue, the author has used the word “absurdities”. It conveys the researcher’s negligent attitude to scientific word, so that sometimes text loses its sense. This leads to misunderstanding and creates conceptual barriers, reduces the scientific value of research work

Skeptic’s Comment: What Questions ‘Academic Writing’ Does Not Answer

No full text
The paper provides information to support its title (“Skeptic’s comment…”). The author shares his attitudes towards a new research area of academic writing (AW) and a system of teaching AW. The paper is presented in a form of a dialog between the author and the advocates of AW. In the author’s opinion, these advocates do not answer a number of questions to be asked for including their ideas into the scope of pedagogical knowledge. While admitting the value of analyzing foreign publications on AW, interpreting them and creating a teaching and learning system tailored for our national practice, the author states that the arguments to recognize AW as an independent academic discipline or a new research area are not sufficient. The author supports this idea by a series of speculations expanded in the paper sections to follow. They include doubts about the completeness of methodological arguments (considering the contemporary state of matter in epistemology, attitude towards new type rationality, unique features of cognition in science and humanities, rationale for the relevance of social constructivism for AW, and etc.), and about the insufficient attention towards the contemporary pedagogical methodology. The status of AW is discussed as if sidestepping the national achievements in investigating the language, speech, text (academic), discourse, linguistic and rhetoric conventions, and etc. The skepticism regarding the AW system can also be explained by the fact that the author does not agree with a number of statements denying the figural and publicistic images in an academic style, personal characteristics, opinions, emotional experiences and beliefs; negating the talent, literature expertise and imitation as assistants for academic writing; inferring the impossibility of learning academic writing independently. The author is confused by the insufficient attention towards the investigations on eloquence carried out in the 1980s in our native country (e.g. by S.S. Averintsev, A.K. Avelichev, and etc.); it is clear that the expertise in foreign research does not negate the knowledge about the research in our native country. Through critically analyzing the components of the AW system, the author concludes that AW is to be considered as one of possible technological solutions for the problem of creating a scholarly proper academic text

No full text
The author presents her own opinion on the university lecturer activities. The paper emphasizes the integrative character of university lecturer activities, which includes, besides teaching, research work, scientific guidance and consulting, membership in different councils and editorial boards, peer reviewing, and writing of articles, monographs, textbooks, and courses. Some kinds of his activities are unobvious and imperceptible. The author uses the metaphor “invisible laboratory of mental work” and expresses concern in connection with the uncertain position of a university teacher in the modernization processes in higher education and with possible loss of the value of a unique personality
