Thermomechanical Fatigue and Heat Generation Bahavior of Filled Rubber Vulcanizates during Cyclic Deformation
Heat generation of filled rubber vulcanizates and its relationship with vulcanizate network structures
The hysteresis loss and thermomechanical behavior of a series of NR filled vulcanizates were studied. Rubber specimens prepared with four varying types of vulcanizate network systems were used, and the hysteresis and dynamic properties were measured. The heat buildup behavior was studied by compressive fatigue of solid rubber components. Relationships between heat generation of filled rubber vulcanizates and hysteresis loss, 100% modulus, loss compliance, loss modulus, filler loading and ambient temperature were examined. The heat buildup can be correlated to the dynamic mechanical behavior. A comparative study of different types of crosslink structures has been made in this study; from the results, we concluded that there are clear distinctions of heat generation behavior between crosslink structures. Centella asiatica Improves Kim-1, eNOS and GPX-1 kidney mRNA expression in diabetes mellitus rat model
Introduction: Diabetic nephropathy is one of the most common complications in diabetes Mellitus. Hyperglycemia and chronic inflammation cause abnormal oxidative stress deposition that leads to the decrease of glutathione perox- idase-1 (GPx1) and endothelial Nitric Oxide synthetase (eNOS). It was reported that Centella asiatica has an anti-hy- perglycemic and anti-inflammatory effect. However little is known about Centella asiatica effect in the kidney of DM. The objective of this study was to know the effect of Centella asiatica extract on Kim-1 (marker of kidney damage), GPx1 and eNOS mRNA expression in the kidney of DM rat model. Methods: Wistar DM rat model was divided into 6 groups namely non-DM group, DM group , DM with captopril and another DM group treated with Centella asiatica with three different dosages (250, 500 and 1000 mg/kg BW). The treatment was given for 8 weeks. The Kim-1, GPx1 and eNOS expression was measured using semi-quantitative PCR. Results: The DM group showed higher Kim-1 kidney mRNA expression but lower GPx1 and eNOS kidney mRNA compare to those on the non-DM group. Ad- ministration of Centella asiatica improves the expression of Kim-1, GPx1 and eNOS kidney mRNA expression in DM rat model. Conclusion: Centella asiatica has the potential to prevent kidney damage in DM rat model by improving Kim-1, GPx1 and eNOS kidney mRNA expression
Kidney Injury Molecule-1 (Kim-1) Sebagai Biomarker Dini Nefropati Diabetik Pada Pasien Diabetes Melitus Tipe 2
Diabetic nephropathy is a chronic complication of type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM). To prevent the onset or progression of nephropathy, a biomarker is needed that can detect kidney problems at an early stage. This study aims to determine differences in urine KIM-1 levels and correlation of levels of KIM-1 with albuminuria in patients with Non-Nephropathy DM, Insipien Nephropathy and Diabetic Nephropathy and the role of KIM-1 as an early biomarker of Diabetic Nephropathy. This research was conducted at Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo and his networking hospital. This study used a cross-sectional design with the number of type 2 DM patients as many as 78 people who met the inclusion criteria. The results showed that KIM-1 levels in patients with Non-Nephropathy DM (albuminuria [uALB] <20 mg/L), Ineffective Nephropathy (uALB 20-300 mg / L) and Diabetic Nephropathy (uALB> 300 mg/L) respectively is 0.862 ± 0.246 ng / mL, 2.409 ± 0.816 ng/mL and 3.503 ± 0.370 ng / mL. There were differences in mean KIM-1 levels between Non Nephropathy and Nephropathy Insipid (sig = 0.000 p <0.05), Non Nephropathy and Diabetic Nephropathy (sig = 0.000 p <0.05), Insipid Nephropathy and Diabetic Nephropathy (sig = 0.000 p <0.05) Correlation between KIM-1 level with albuminuria concentration in patients with Non Nephropathy DM (r = 0.948; sig <0.05), Nephropathy Insipien (r = 0.969; sig <0.05) and Diabetic Nephropathy (r = 0.911; sig <0.05). There are levels of KIM-1 that exceed the normal limit (> 0.837 ng / mL) in patients with non-nephropathy DM (normoalbuminuria) so that KIM-1 can be considered as an early biomarker of diabetic nephropathy.

Low optical loss perfluorinated methacrylates for a single-mode polymer waveguide
Perfluoroalkyleneoxy methacrylate containing polar functional carbonate (-O-C(= O)-O-) or carbamate (-NH-C(= O)-O-) groups were synthesized to improve optical and adhesion properties of optical waveguide materials. Transparent polymer films were prepared by photocuring of a solution containing methacryloyl perfluoroalkyleneoxy carbonate and a photoinitiator. Optical loss of 0.35 dB/ cm at 1550 nm was determined from the photocured film, for TE polarization by measuring the transmitted power along the slab waveguide length. The refractive indices at 1550 rim were determined as 1.4337 and 1.4334 for TE and TM modes, respectively, indicating low birefringence of Deltan = 0.0003 +/- 0.0002. Adhesion between the substrate and the polymer layer was enhanced by introducing carbonates and carbamates as determined from a SEM cross section and low surface energy of the photocured polymer film. Low-loss optical waveguides have been fabricated from a solution containing methacryloyl perfluoroalkyleneoxy carbonate by photo-cross-linking and then reactive ion etching to produce high-quality channel waveguides with very smooth surfaces. The propagation loss of the channel waveguides was 0.50 and 0.70 dB/cm at the monitoring light of 1550 nm for TE and TM polarizations, respectively
