No full textL'ambiguïté structurale du fosterage dans une société matri-virilocale (Sereer Ndut, Sénégal)Les prêts temporaires d'enfants, dans la société ndut matrilinéaire et virilocale, visent à compenser les déséquilibres démographiques entre les segments d'un lignage et entre les descendants cognatiques d'une habitation. L'ambigui'té de l'institution réside dans les rôles contradictoires du tuteur, à la fois père de substitution et représentant de l'autorité lignagère, dont le garçon pourrait devenir l'héritier.L'auteur démontre l'adéquation du modèle ndut de redistribution de la main-d'œuvre infantile avec la réalité démographique, ainsi que sa concordance avec les modèles de fission du groupe domestique et de segmentation du matrilignage.Terrains propices aux stratégies, l'adoption et le fosterage provoquent des réactions ambiguës et contestataires chez les intéressés, particulièrement dans ces sociétés africaines où les statuts - de l'esclave au chef de lignage en passant par l'enfant adopté - s'étalent sur un continuum de relations.The Structural Ambiguity of Fosterage in a Matri-Virilocal Society (Sereer Ndut, Senegal)The temporary lending out of children, in the matrilineal and virilocal Ndut society, helps to compensate for the demographic imbalances between the segments of a lignage and between the cognatic descendants of a household. The ambiguity of this institution resides in the guardian's contradictory roles; for this person, whose ward could become his heir, acts both as a substitute father and as a representative of his lineage.The author demonstrates how the Ndut model of child manpower redistribution complements demographic reality. As well, the fission model of the household group is shown to concord with the segmentary model of matrilineage.Adoption and fosterage, a social context favourable for elaborating strategies, provoke ambiguous and conflicting reactions in the persons concerned, particularly so in African societies where the positions in society - from slave to chief of the lineage and including, of course, the adopted child - encompass a continuum of relationships
Clustering binary data streams with K-means
No full textClustering data streams is an interesting Data Mining prob-lem. This article presents three variants of the K-means algorithm to cluster binary data streams. The variants in-clude On-line K-means, Scalable K-means, and Incremental K-means, a proposed variant introduced that nds higher quality solutions in less time. Higher quality of solutions are obtained with a mean-based initialization and incremen-tal learning. The speedup is achieved through a simplied set of sucient statistics and operations with sparse matri-ces. A summary table of clusters is maintained on-line. The K-means variants are compared with respect to quality of results and speed. The proposed algorithms can be used to monitor transactions. 1

No full textDiagenetic sequences and porosity in the arkosic and lithic Verrucano Lombardo and Val Gardena sandstones in N Italy are controlled dominantly by framework mineralogy and tectonic history. These stratigraphically equivalent Permian sandstones were deposited in various non-marine environments during an early stage of rifting at the base of the Alpidic cycle: they consist dominantly of quartz, feldspars and acidic to intermediate volcanic rock fragments. Source terrains consist of underlying Permian volcanic and terrigenous rocks of the pre-Permian crystalline basement. Three distinct diagenetic provinces have been differentiated, based on 1) the presence and nature of carbonate cement and/or replacement; 2) the presence of quartz cement; 3) the presence of kaolinization of detrital K-feldspar; and 4) the degree of recrystallization of the detrital clay matri

No full textWater quality in urban areas in Surakarta has decreased nowadays. The increase of industrial development, its poor sewage treatment, and some other factors cause this urban problem. The result of the water quality monitoring system with K-Nearest Neighbor algorithm on this research certainly will help the laborers’ duty of PDAM (Local Government Owned Water Utilities) in analyzing water quality. For the consideration of majority output in this method, the system works by taking the nearest distance to the assigned number of K. The training data for this research was taken in March 2016 form the report of water monitoring result in PDAM’S laboratory of Surakarta. The identification result is divided into eligible (MS) and ineligible (TMS).
