Small coupling limit and multiple solutions to the Dirichlet Problem for Yang-Mills connections in 4 dimensions - Part III
In this paper, the third of this series, we prove that the spaces A,p
k (A0; q) and B,p
0,k(A0; q)
which contain Lp
k-approximate solutions to the Dirichlet problem for the -Yang Mills equations
on a four dimensional disk B4, carry a natural manifold structure (more precisely a
natural structure of Banach bundle), for p(k+1) > 4. All results apply also if B4 is replaced
by a general compact manifold with boundary, and SU(2) is replaced by any compact Lie
group. We also construct bases for the tangent space to the space of approximate solutions,
thus showing that this space is 8-dimensional for sufficiently small, and prove some technical
results used in Parts I and II for the proof of the existence of multiple solution and, in
particular, non-minimal ones, for this non-compact variational problem
Innovative technologies for safer European coasts in a changing climate
THESEUS project is developing a systematic approach to delivering both a low-risk coast for human use and healthy habitats for evolving coastal zones subject to multiple change factors. The project examines innovative mitigation and adaptation technologies and integrate the best of these technical measures in a strategic policy context through overarching guidelines. THESEUS activities are carried out within a multidisciplinary framework using 8 study sites across Europe, with specific attention to the most vulnerable coastal environments such as deltas, estuaries and wetlands, where many large cities and industrial areas are located
Purification and characterization of a novel 70-kDa brain protein associated with seizure activities.
Modelling coastal risk at Cesenatico, Northern Adriatic Sea, Italy
This paper analyses the vulnerability to flood hazard of Cesenatico, Italy, a low-lying site facing the Northern Adriatic Sea. Key elements characterizing the site are high subsidence, beach erosion, high touristic value, complex urban drainage system. The site is first examined by means of the Source-Pathways-Receptors-Consequences model. Then new climate scenarios based on a long-term join statistics of waves and surges are developed and adopted in 2DH numerical modelling to derive flood extension and velocity
A Hamiltonian structure of the {I}sobe-{K}akinuma model for water waves
International audienceWe consider the Isobe-Kakinuma model for water waves, which is obtained as the system of Euler-Lagrange equations for a Lagrangian approximating Luke's Lagrangian for water waves. We show that the Isobe-Kakinuma model also enjoys a Hamiltonian structure analogous to the one exhibited by V. E. Zakharov on the full water wave problem and, moreover, that the Hamiltonian of the Isobe-Kakinuma model is a higher order shallow water approximation to the one of the full water wave problem

Cloning and chromosome mapping of human and chicken Iroquois (IRX) genes
Three highly homologous homeobox genes (caupolican, araucan and mirror) have been identified in Drosophila. These genes belong to the novel Iroquois complex, which acts as a pre-pattern molecule in Drosophila neurogenesis. Recently several vertebrate Iroquois homologues (Irx) were isolated and found to be involved in pattern formation of various tissues. Here we report cytogenetic mapping of four human and five chicken Iroquois genes by FISH. Our findings revealed that vertebrate Irx genes are clustered at two different loci. Copyright (C) 2001 S.
