RAUXA. LA CATALUNYA REBEL DE 1925 A 1931
El destí del jover periodista Pep Pubill semblava previsible. El 1925 aconsegueix el seu somni d'entrar al diari "La Publicitat". Allà treballarà braç a braç amb noms respectables com Josep M. Sagarra, Just Cabot o l'entranyable ninotaire Passarell. A la mateixa redacció coneixerà l'atractiva columnista Mariona Bosch… Però la vida amaga sorpreses, ja que per un greu malentès ha de fugir del país acusat de conspirador regicida i amb una nova identitat. Instal•lat al Paris "des Anées Folles" com a corresponsal, s' integrarà al Montparnasse de les tertúlies, la bohèmia i els seus protagonistes, tot al ritme del frenètic xarleston! Per un remolí d'esdeveniments es veurà embolicat amb l'exili català. Coneixerà al seu admirat Coronel Macià i, sorprenent-se a sí mateix, es comprometrà amb la seva causa: des de Prats de Molló fins al llarg periple americà acompanyant el patrici català i el poeta Ventiura Gassol… La vida no era allò que el 1925 imaginava. De cap manera!

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
No full textWe conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more

What genetics tell us about the conservation of the critically endangered Balearic Shearwater?
No full textThe Balearic shearwater Puffinus mauretanicus is one of the most critically endangered sea- birds in the world. The species is endemic to the Balearic archipelago, and conservation concerns are the low number of breeding pairs, the low adult survival, and the possible hybridization with a sibling species, the morphologically smaller Yelkouan shearwater (P. yelkouan). We sampled almost the entire breeding range of the species and analyzed the genetic variation at two mitochondrial DNA regions. No genetic evidence of population decline was found. Despite the observed philopatry, we detected a weak population struc- ture mainly due to connectivity among colonies higher than expected, but also to a Pleis- tocene demographic expansion. Some colonies showed a high imbalance between immigration and emigration rates, suggesting spatial heterogeneity in patch quality. Genetic evidence of maternal introgression from the sibling species was reinforced, but almost only in a peripheral colony and not followed, at least to date, by the spread of the introgressed mtDNA lineages. Morphometric differences were not correlated with mtDNA haplotypes and introgression is probably due to a secondary contact between the two spe- cies several generations ago. Overall, results suggested that the very recent demographic decline in this critically endangered species has not yet decreased its genetic variability, and connectivity found among most colonies should help to reduce species extinction risk. Spreading of introgression should be monitored, but the species is not jeopardized at the moment by genetic factors and the major conservation actions should concentrate at
enhancing adult survival.Peer reviewe
