Comparative Study of Interior Permanent-Magnet Synchronous Motor Topologies for Motorcycle Traction Application
The trend for vehicle electrification has gained importance worldwide as a solution to the pollution caused by internal combustion engines. In addition, electric vehicles have become a sustainable transportation solution over the years. Consequently, electric motors have gained significant prominence in the field of vehicle manufacturing. Interior Permanent Magnet motors have emerged as the preferred choice for three-phase motor production in electrified powertrain for passenger cars. However, other lightweight transportation systems, such as motorcycles and scooters, have received less attention from the scientific community. This study presents a comparative analysis of four rotor topologies used in interior permanent magnet motors for electric motorcycles. The evaluation of these motors is based on their performance and cost. Research findings indicate that the V-shape topology stands out as the most economically efficient among the four examined topologies. The selection of an optimal rotor topology depends on the specific application, which requires an understanding of the strengths and weaknesses associated with each motor topology
Design optimization of a PMSM stator for powertrain applications considering NVH behavior
In the current societal landscape, there is a notable inclination towards the acceptance and adoption of electric vehicles, prompting heightened attention from academia and literature towards research and technological advancements in all aspects of electric vehicle design. As the most crucial component of an electric vehicle, the motor holds particular significance. The primary aim of this article is to investigate the causes of noise and vibrations in electric motors, alongside conducting an analysis of Sound Pressure Level and order tracking to assess the motor's acoustic performance. Subsequently, employing the techniques outlined in this study, the objective is to propose a motor design that maintains motor performance while reducing noise and vibration production. This redesign of the base motor will entail the application of advanced motor design techniques, specifically focusing on the geometric design of internal motor components
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Industrial Policy Considerations for Structural Change in Peripheral Areas in the 21st Century
En el presente trabajo se examina una discusión abierta en el campo de los estudios del desarrollo: la importancia de estimular desde el Estado el desenvolvimiento del sector industrial para viabilizar procesos de transformación estructural en la economía capitalista contemporánea. Sobre la base de relevamiento bibliográfico y de técnicas de análisis de contenido, en primer lugar, se presenta una evolución histórica de esta discusión para, luego, hacer foco en el debate contemporáneo. Se identifican aquí dos posturas que, sin ser excluyentes, otorgan diferente centralidad al sector manufacturero y a las políticas estatales orientadas a su estímulo para impulsar el desarrollo. Procurando profundizar en el examen, se analizan experiencias de desarrollo reciente a fin de identificar los procesos y políticas implementadas. Se concluye remarcando la necesidad de diseñar e implementar políticas que estimulen la actividad manufacturera para viabilizar procesos de transformación estructural en el escenario capitalista actual.This paper examines an ongoing discussion in the field of development studies: the significance of state intervention in promoting industrial sector development to enable viable structural transformation processes within the contemporary capitalist economy. Drawing from a bibliographical survey and content analysis techniques, we begin by tracing the historical evolution of this discourse and subsequently delve into the present-day debate. Within this context, two distinct positions emerge, though not mutually exclusive, highlighting varying degrees of emphasis on the manufacturing sector and state policies aimed at stimulating it for overall development. To deepen our understanding, we analyze recent development experiences, seeking insights into the implemented processes and policies. In conclusion, we emphasize the necessity of designing and implementing policies that encourage manufacturing activity, thereby facilitating structural transformation in the current capitalist landscape.Fil: Lauxmann, Carolina Teresita. Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more

We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
