Juan Botas & MTV: Escenografías para el décimo aniversario de MTV.

En 1991 Juan diseñó varios escenarios para MTV, coincidiendo con el décimo aniversario de la cadena de televisión. El proyecto de Botas fue una interesante y fuerte propuesta visual donde todos sus componentes eran necesarios para una exitosa puesta en escena. Sin embargo, para entender este proyecto y valorar correctamente los diseños de Botas, necesitamos unas claves sobre el proceso de comunicación y las ideas del artista sobre ello. Además, el artículo estudia de manera sustancial las técnicas y tácticas televisivas, conociendo así la oferta multicultural de MTV y los ideales estéticos que recaen sobre el canal de televisión. Todo ello supondrá, como veremos en el texto, el punto de partida de todo el proceso de elaboración de los diseños de Botas. Asimismo, desde el estreno de MTV en agosto de 1981, los videos musicales adquirieron mayor importancia, al mismo tiempo que contribuyeron a constituir la imagen de MTV.Este artículo trata sobre los diseños escenográficos del artista asturiano Juan Suárez Botas. Desde el inicio de MTV en agosto de 1981, los videos musicales han incrementado su importancia y contribuido a formar la imagen de MTV. Diez años después, en 1991, Juan Botas fue la elección de MTV para desarrollar varios sets para la multinacional. El canal eligió el proyecto de Botas porque era una interesante y fuerte propuesta visual, basada en las posibilidades estéticas que estos diseños ofrecían para una exitosa puesta en escena. El texto explica este proyecto, y valora los diseños de Botas correctamente, usando una apropiada metodología basada en una investigación del proceso de comunicación y de las ideas de los artistas sobre ello, con una bibliografía como apoyo. Además, el artículo estudio, sustancialmente, las técnicas y tácticas televisivas, conociendo el alcance de la oferta multicultural de MTV y los ideales estéticos para analizar todo el proyecto de los diseños escenográficos de Botas
La estética de Juan Botas en tres dimensiones: marcos y elementos decorativos
Get PDFEl trabajo está orientado principalmente hacia el estudio de la serie de marcos que Juan Botas había creado en su estudio neoyorquino.La colección se compone de casi una veintena de ejemplares, ubicados en el Museo-Casa Natal de Jovellanos en la actualidad. Previamente, estas obras formaron parte de la exposición “Pásate por el estudio”, en el museo Nicanor Piñole en 1989. Estos marcos fueron realizados en cartón pluma, a partir de un previo boceto, y posteriormente policromados. Lo interesante de este conjunto se encuentra en las formas y colores empleados, detrás de los cuales se esconde toda una teoría visual del color y una estética claramente única que habían sido perfeccionadas con el tiempo por el artista asturiano. Además, todas estas obras tridimensionales constituyen uno de los ejemplos de experimentación en el campo de la teoría visual llevados a cabo por Botas. Junto con estos marcos, existen otros ejemplos de creaciones tridimensionales que el artista había desarrollado empleando los mismos materiales. Se trata de varios elementos ornamentales utilizados en la misma exposición, aunque con diversas formas, pero siempre aplicando ese estilo propio de Botas.A lo largo de esta serie de obras encontraremos influencias y reminiscencias derivadas del pop art estadounidense, del pattern painting, de la Escuela de Nueva York, del Neo-Pop, entre otros, además de la influencia de figuras relevantes dentro del panorama artístico de la postmodernidad.</jats:p
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. No full textWe have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
