Corporate Risk Management in Slovenian Firms
In today’s competitive environment the modern firm increasingly focuses on identifying, measuring and managing various risk exposures. Risk management is interwoven with the firm’s business strategy and impacts considerably on its competitive position. Thus, management should develop an integrated approach to address it. Although hedging using derivatives accounts for just one part of such an approach, the article solely covers financial risk management using derivatives. Namely, it is found that even Slovenian blue-chip firms still have room to improve as they have only recently started to use derivatives. The article reviews some of the most interesting characteristics and practices of modern Slovenian financial risk management departments and provides a practically oriented case-study which describes the important steps a risk manager must take to hedge commodity price exposure.risk management, derivatives, corporate finance, hedging accounting, reporting, supervision, auditing
HaN-Seg: The head and neck organ-at-risk CT & MR segmentation dataset
The HaN-Seg: Head and Neck Organ-at-Risk CT & MR Segmentation Dataset is a publicly available dataset of anonymized head and neck (HaN) images of 42 patients that underwent both CT and T1-weighted MR imaging for the purpose of image-guided radiotherapy planning. In addition, the dataset also contains reference segmentations of 30 organs-at-risk (OARs) for CT images in the form of binary segmentation masks, which were obtained by curating manual pixel-wise expert image annotations. A full description of the HaN-Seg dataset can be found in:

and any research originating from its usage is required to cite this paper.
In parallel with the release of the dataset, the HaN-Seg: The Head and Neck Organ-at-Risk CT & MR Segmentation Challenge is launched to promote the development of new and application of existing state-of-the-art fully automated techniques for OAR segmentation in the HaN region from CT images that exploit the information of multiple imaging modalities, in this case from CT and MR images. The task of the HaN-Seg challenge is to automatically segment up to 30 OARs in the HaN region from CT images in the devised test set, consisting of 14 CT and MR images of the same patients, given the availability of the training set (i.e. the herein publicly available HaN-Seg dataset), consisting of 42 CT and MR images of the same patients with reference 3D OAR binary segmentation masks for CT images. If you are using the HaN-Seg public training dataset, you are required to cite the following article:

Contemporary Voices in Academic Translation: How the Interaction of Author, Translator, and Discipline Influences the Expression of Authorial Identity
This master’s thesis explores the concept of authorial identity in academic writing and the dynamics of the relationship between the author, the translator, and the discipline that emerges during this process. I focus on how the interaction among the author, translator, and discipline influences the expression of authorial identity, particularly in research articles and their abstracts, a topic that remains largely underresearched in Slovenia as well as internationally. Furthermore, I aim to investigate the role of translation as the final product of these interactions. Using semi-structured interviews with six experienced translators of academic texts who are actively involved in both Slovenian and international academia, either as authors, translators or reviewers of academic texts, I explore how experienced translators perceive their role in translating academic texts and whether, in their opinion, translators’ interventions influence the expression of authorial presence. I compare their observations regarding differences in linguistic practices in connection with lingua-cultural and genre conventions, juxtaposing the Slovenian research space with its Anglophone counterpart. I also analyze the interviewees’ attitudes towards English as a lingua franca, specifically whether they believe it affects the rhetorical patterns and strategies for expressing authorial presence in Slovenian academic writing. Finally, I address the concept of self-translation of academic texts, as well as the latest attempts to reshape Slovenian language policy in higher education towards a stronger promotion of Slovenian as a language of academia
Stomach, Hands, Legs, Feet, Eyes, Ears, Mouth, Upper and Lower Teeth, Molars, Eyebrows and Head: The Unity of Christians and the Ancient Topos of Body and Members
This article stems from the question of the source from which the Christian author Paul took the image of the body and its members and its head. This image appears in several forms in Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians as well as in Romans, Colossians and Ephesians. The author asks how Paul used it when addressing the issue of the relationships among believers in the church as well as
the relationship between the church and Christ. The author maintains that Paul adopted and adapted the ancient topos of the body and its members which appears in many authors from Classical and Hellenistic times, as in Stoic texts of Paul’s era. The key texts are reproduced in Croatian translation. Against these sources the author investigates how Clement of Rome used the same topos. The author concludes that ancient writers adjusted the topos to the aims of their
texts and messages. The same applies to the aforementioned hristian writers. Of the two, Paul adapted and developed (more thoroughly than did Clement) the ancient topos to the Christian teaching about the church, and filled it with theological meaning

causes associated with idiopathic recurrent spontaneous abortion.
Abstract
Idiopathic recurrent spontaneous abortion (IRSA) has been associated with abnormalities in the remodelling of endome-
trial extracellular matrix, as well as aberrant matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) gene expression in endometrium of IRSA women and
chorionic villi of IRSA concepti. This study investigated the association of five functional MMP gene promoter polymorphisms (MMP1

735 C/T, MMP2
1306 C/T, MMP3
1612 5A/6A and MMP9
1562 C/T) with IRSA. A total of 149 couples with
at least three consecutive IRSA and 149 fertile couples were included in a case–control study. Genotype analysis was performed
using PCR restriction fragment length polymorphism. Statistically significant differences were found in distributions of MMP2

their predictive value. There were no statistically significant differences in genotype and allele frequencies of any polymorphism
between IRSA men and controls. MMP2
735 C/T and MMP9
1562 C/T functional gene polymorphisms might be associated with
an increased risk of IRSA in women
Abnormal expression of dysferlin in skeletal muscle and monocytes supports primary dysferlinopathy in patients with one mutated allele
Background: In some cases, a definitive confirmation of dysferlinopathy cannot be achieved by DNA test, because the mutation is detected in one allele only. Patients and methods: Dysferlin expression in skeletal muscle and peripheral blood monocytes (PBM) was studied by Western blot in two unrelated adult patients. The comparative CT method (ΔΔCT) was used to calculate relative changes in dysferlin mRNA determined from real-time quantitative PCR experiments. The dysferlin gene was studied by direct sequencing of cDNA and genomic DNA and by Multiplex Ligation-dependent Probe Amplification (MLPA) analysis. Results: A comparable severe reduction in dysferlin was demonstrated in both skeletal muscle and PBM. The expression of dysferlin mRNA was significantly reduced. A novel mutation in exon 47 (c.5289G>C) of the dysferlin gene in the heterozygous state, causing an amino acid change (p.Glu1763Asp), was detected in both patients. The MLPA analysis did not reveal any deletion or duplication. Conclusions: Dysferlin and/or dysferlin mRNA abnormalities are diagnostic for dysferlinopathy when mutational analysis detects a mutation in one allele only. Analysis of dysferlin mRNA can be helpful for distinguishing symptomatic heterozygotes from such patients. © 2010 The Author(s). European Journal of Neurology © 2010 EFNS
Roman Settlements and Roman Flavor o f the First Century AD Philippi
Kr. i 30.-27. god. pr. Kr.).
The article deals with the circumstances of the Roman settlements in
Philippi in the first century BC and their consequences for this town in
the Roman province of Macedonia in the first century AD. The author
shows that there were actually only two Roman settlements (42 BC and 30-27 BC). The historical circumstances of settlements as well as social composition of the settlers show that the settlements were not intended as deliberate romanization of a part of the Roman province of Macedonia, but rather pragmatic remedies for current political problems. In spite of this, by the first half of the first century AD, the time covered by Acts and Paul’s letter, Philippi retained a strong Roman flavor because of its status of Roman colony, legislation, Latin as the language of administration, Roman religions, the location on the crucial Egnatian road, and the continuing recruitment in the Roman army. Also, the Roman settlers belonged to the higher strata of society and exercised strong influence on the Philippian culture
THE BAPTIST CHURCH IN ZAGREB: EARLY YEARS, 1921-1927
In this article the author is concerned with the history of the Baptist Church in Zagreb from the end of the First World War to 1927, that is, with the renewal of the Baptist Church in Zagreb and its organization and growth in this period and within the wider context of the development of the Baptist movement in Croatia and the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes. The key figures were Ivan Zrinščak (1921-1922) and Josip Baluban (1923-1927), and along with Vinko Vacek, the head preacher responsible for Croatia, who operated from Daruvar, other prominent individuals are mentioned. The article
examines various aspects of community life including religious observances (types of meetings, location, music), rituals and holy days (baptisms, Eucharist, marriage, funeral rites, new year liturgy), the administrative structure of the church body (assembly), the selection and responsibility of church functionaries, discipline, literature (the Baptist journal Glas evanđelja and other tracts), promotional activities in society and the church’s relationship to
the authorities. The analysis is based on hitherto untapped primary sources as well as limited secondary sources and information from the journal Glas evanđelja
An Analysis of the Publishing Activity of Keston Institute in the Context of its Last Three Years of Operation in Oxford (2003-2006)
By way of introduction, the study will give an outline of the history of Keston Institute (KI). It will then identify the period of three years (2003-2006) as the period during which KI attempted to integrate in the academic life of the Oxford University under the new director. The period ended with the effective closing down of the institution in its historical shape and with regard to many of its previous activities. On the surface this decision had to do with increasing financial difficulties, but it is the author\u27s contention that on another level it was an outcome of a clash of two differing views on the philosophy of KI\u27s mandate. The publishing output in the period under investigation will be singled out and analysed according to the temporal and geographical coverage of the contents of the KI publications. The conclusions will be shown to reflect the tensions present within KI in this period with regard to the possible future philosophy of research and the publishing policy of KI. One option which was advocating a wider geographical range and more contemporary topics (i.e. including the bulk of the former Eastern Europe, Europe in general but also North Korea and China) and, to some degree, a more overt use of the sociology of religion. The option eventually prevailed which supported a narrower perspective focusing on the topics dealing with the former Soviet Union, primarily Russia and the Ukraine, from a historical point of view, although also including some contemporary surveys (limited to that area). The study concludes with an outline of the subsequent (post-)history of KI which corroborates the results of the analysis and illustrates the practical outcomes of the decisions taken on the questions of research and publishing the journal between 2003-2005
