Using the Johari Window to explore patient and provider perspectives

    No full text
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to introduce the “Johari Window” as a tool to illustrate how providers and patients differ in their understanding of healthcare quality. Design/methodology/approach The four quadrants of the Johari Window depict information known by both parties, by providers only, by patients only and by neither party. Findings By understanding these differing perceptions, clinicians and planners can improve the patient’s experience of service delivery. Research limitations/implications There has been no formal evaluation of this tool’s performance. It is presented as a heuristic teaching model to stimulate inquiry and discussion. Originality/value The author has used the Johari Window in various cultural contexts, where its clarity and simplicity help introduce a potentially sensitive subject. Because it has face validity as an easy-to-understand tool, it can be used with students and junior care providers as well as non-clinician governors. </jats:sec

Prof. Madya Dr. Johari Adnan dan ahli kumpulannya telah memenangi pingat perak di PECIPTA 2007 yang telah dianjurkan oleh Kementerian Pengajian Tinggi Malaysia (KPTM) dengan kerjasama Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), 10 - 12 Ogos 2007 di Pusat Konvensyen Kuala Lumpur (KLCC), Kuala Lumpur. Our research deals with the development of Barium Strontium Titanate (BST) materials. These BST materials have applications in sensors and actuators. We have succeeded in developing instruments that measure preasure, heat, light and gas based on BST. Figure 1 shows the construction of BST thin film sensor with two wire terminals attached. Our experiments have shown that the BST thin film sensor (Figure 2) exhibits ferroelectric, pyroelectric, piezoeletric and electro-optic properties. Here we developed heart beat detector based on BST piezoelectric property

Johari windows and games : identifying a target audience

This is the report on a study made to find a correlation between the Johari window and the games that the possessor of given Johari window enjoys to play. A Johari window is a graph that shows an individual’s ability to receive and give feedback. One obvious correlation was found between individuals enjoying role playing games and their possessing Johari windows showing a good ability to give feedback. The reasoning behind this is that the ability to give feedback is based on the capability to express oneself to the external environment, and that one would need to be comfortable with expressing oneself to an external environment in order to enjoy interacting with the narrative that takes place within the role playing genre
