Compared with a male paratype of Morphocoros thailandicus in the collection of the co-author (EH) (no female specimen has ever been illustrated), the latter is distinguished from Paramorphocoris henanensis gen. et sp. nov. by a much wider and less constricted median ridge of meso- and metanotum without a longitudinal sulcus, by the very deep oval lateral excavations of metanotum, the deeper median depression of mtg I+II showing 2 longitudinal carinae at its bottom on mtg II, the straight anterior margin of the tergal plate, and the deep median excavation on mtg III in continuation of that of mtg I+II flanked by raised margins. The elevations and deep cavities cannot be recognized from Kormilev’s 1977 only illustration of this species (p.618, Fig. 19).
Published as part of Cui, Jianxin, Bai, Xiaoshuan, Heiss, Ernst & Cai, Wanzhi, 2015, A new apterous genus of Carventinae (Hemiptera: Aradidae) from China, pp. 143-146 in Zootaxa 3980 (1) on pages 143-144, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.3980.1.9, http://zenodo.org/record/239185
Bai Wei xi ju zai tan
Bai Wei (1894-1987) is known as the most outstanding Chinese modern female playwright. Her plays have embedded profound reflections upon core values of the May Fourth Era, and have displayed a variety of creative attempts which are way beyond the reach of other playwrights from the same generation. Regrettably, the obscure and wild style of her plays have precluded them to be understood by peers of the same epoch, as these plays were presumptuous and prematurely considered irrelevant to the social imperatives. And while compared to the clear-cut stance of realism, Bai Wei’s plays had antagonistically overshadowed. Moreover, misconceptions upon characteristics of Bai Wai’s drama have also been made by the few researchers who had paid attention to her. As a result, the distinguished achievements of Bai Wei are still temporarily buried in the literary history.‘Revolution’ and ‘Love’ are the two major aspects of Bai Wei’s literary writing, and they have long been focus of research on her life and on the shifting of direction in her literary career. However, ‘Ethics’ has also been a major concern of Bai Wei, for apart from responding to ethical issues regarding family and society, she had also provoked meditations on the suitability of love and revolution. Based on the three themes mentioned, this present study will conduct in-depth analysis on her three prominent plays, including Linli, Dachu Youlingta (Breaking out of the Ghost Tower) and Gemingshen de Shounan (The Suffering of the The Revolutionary God), complemented by investigations on works of the same motifs, with aims to reveal the philosophy of love, ethical restraints and revolutionary allegory rarely found in other plays.By clarifying the correlation of passion and rationality, as well as the cluster of reality and imagination encompassed in Bai Wei’s drama, this study strives to re-examine the fine speculations, artistic innovations and humanistic care captured in her dramatic vision. This study sought to provide new insights on interpretations of Bai Wei’s plays, and to reiterate the significance of her endeavors, on top of the fixed impressions created by previous critics. Through the re-examination of Bai Wei’s drama, this study will also contribute to the enrichment and extension of the researches on the breakthroughs of theatrical conventions for drama to be served as tools of enlightenment and political manifestation which were facilitated by a minority group of playwrights in the 1920s, as well as on the struggles and termination of personal romantic pursuits under the overidding trend of realism across the Chinese society during the early Republican period.Detailed summary in vernacular field only.Detailed summary in vernacular field only. Parallel title from English abstract.Thesis (M.Phil.) An investigation into the Innovator's dilemma in the automotive industry: A disruptive change and innovation
This dissertation demonstrates how computer-aided content analysis (CACA)
can be used to address analyze unique elements of language in annual reports
to disruptive innovation research. The author applies the MAXQDA computer
program to a sample of 130 annual reports from 13 different large car
manufacturers, with a focus on gaining insights concerning how disruptive
innovation influence the players in the automotive industry utilizing content
analysis. Also, the author tries using the word as an indicator to measure the
performance of the firm. This dissertation finds strong indication of the negative
trend between “disruptive innovation” and “firm’s performance,” and propose
the contribution for not only theoretical implication for future research but also
with a discussion of the implication for business practice, especially for car

Banished Immortal: A Life of Li Bai
From the National Book Award-winning author of Waiting: a narratively driven, deeply human biography of the 8th century poet, Li Bai...also known as Li Po...one of the most beloved poets ever to emerge from China. With the instincts of a master novelist, Ha Jin draws on a wide range of historical and literary sources to weave the life story of Li Bai (701-762), whose poems...shaped by Daoist thought and characterized by their passion, romance, and lust for life...rang throughout the Tang Dynasty and continue to be celebrated today. Jin follows Li Bai from his birth on China\u27s western frontier through his travels as a young man seeking a place among the empire\u27s civil servants, his wanderings allowing him to hone his poetic craft, share his verses, and win him friends and admirers along the way. In his later years, he becomes swept up in a military rebellion that alters the course of China, and his death is surrounded by speculation and legend that continues to be spun to this day. The Banished Immortal is an extraordinary portrait of a poet who both transcended his time and was shaped by it, and whose ability to live, love, and mourn without reservation produced some of the most enduring verses in the worldhttps://corescholar.libraries.wright.edu/dlpp_all/1588/thumbnail.jp
Bai yu ti mao yan jiu: gong shi miao xie ji li shi su yuan = A study on aspect of Bai language : synchronic description and diachronic analysis
Ph.D.Aspect is one of the most important grammatical categories of verb and is widely attested cross-linguistically. In Bai language, aspect is indicated by grammatical clitics, termed aspect markers in this study. Previous studies of Bai show that it has around ten aspect markers in each dialect, while so far there has been no thorough discussion on the semantic feature and syntactic distribution of its aspectual system. Besides, Bai is deeply influenced by language contact, to some extent, the complexity of Bai’s aspectual system is caused by language contact. For this reason, to clearly describe the distribution of Bai’s aspect markers, it is necessary to trace their diachronic development and clarify the role of language contact in it. Therefore, this dissertation studies aspect of Bai from two perspectives: synchronic and diachronic.First, under the framework of typology, I define eight aspect categories in Meiba Bai (that is the author’s mother tongue): Perfective -xɯ55, Habitual (unmarked), Progressive: locative phrase or -(tsɿ44) tɕiɛ31 (mɯ55), Perfect of result -tɯ44, Experiential -kuo42, Prospective -kʰɔ42, Inchoative -kʰɯ44/xɯ44, Delimitative ka44-. Second, all the aspect markers are thoroughly described in terms of their collocation with different situation types, arguments and temporal adverbials. It presents the synchronic distribution of the aspectual system of Bai, and also provides the clues for a diachronic analysis. Based on this, I propose a general approach to diachronic analysis of Bai’s grammar. This approach investigates the diachronic development of grammatical morphemes or structures by a detailed synchronic description and a systematic language comparison. In addition to Bai, this approach is also suitable for the diachronic study of any other languages that are lacking in historical documents and deeply affected by language contact. Chapter 4 introduces this approach step by step, predicts seven possibilities of grammatical morpheme/structure’s origin, and points out three mechanisms of syntactic changes. Next, I test the validity of the proposed approach in case of three aspect markers: Perfective -xɯ55, Inchoative - kʰɯ33/kʰɯ44/xɯ44, Progressive markers. Results indicate that Perfective -xɯ55 of Bai and its basic functions are genetic heritage from proto Bai, while its secondary functions that are not attested in all dialects are lately borrowed from Chinese or recently innovated in Bai. As for inchoative marker, its lexical source kʰɯ33 is cognate with qǐ起 in Chinese, thus its functions also found in Chinese are their common heritage, while functions different from Chinese are early or recent innovation features of Bai. There is no inherent progressive category in Bai, consequently, progressive markers in modern Bai dialects are all lately borrowed from Chinese.Last, I compare the semantic evolution paths of aspect markers with the same lexical sources in Bai and Chinese, and suggest that a more detailed language comparison can reveal more specific rules of the semantic evolution. The comparison between Bai and Chinese has two enlightenments on the typological study of aspect: (1) it is the polysemy of lexical sources that makes the different semantic pathways of the same lexical source available. When different semantic components of a lexical source are highlighted, different semantic evolution paths sprouts; (2) recent studies demonstrate that the grammatical morphemes with resultative meaning may develop into both perfective and imperfective markers, while by comparing the semantic evolution routes of directionals in Bai and Chinese not all grams with resultative meaning develop in this way. The gram has negative semantic features, like tʰɯ55 “down” of Bai that indicates the subject goes away from something, will not evolve into an imperfective marker.Summing up, the study of Bai’s aspectual system in this dissertation enhances our understanding of aspect. Moreover, as a language that has accepted Chinese culture very early but still maintains its independence, Bai is typical in the research of Sino-Tibetan that is characterized by language contact. Therefore, in addition to synchronic description, I hope the proposed approach to diachronic development of Bai in this study also contribute to advancing the methodology of language contact.“體”(也稱之爲“體貌”) ,是動詞最重要的語法範疇之一,也是一個跨語言普遍存在的語法概念。 Parallel title from added title page.Thesis Ph.D. Chinese University of Hong Kong 2020.Includes bibliographical references (leaves 238-251).Abstract also in English.Title from PDF title page (viewed on March 1, 2022).Li Xuan
The empathy and the arts of satire in Bai Xian-Yong's 'Taipei people'
"Taipei people" in the protagonist, have a lingering experience. They were forced to come to Taipei that time, in the land with profound contradictions of history. Seeing the year with brilliant vaguely by their own. But also feel unbearable with the memory in the past, they often face to similar people and things inadvertently now. Because of the specific trigger, and aftertaste from the past. The main characters in the book, produce many collisions, contradictory emotions and poor adaptability because of the geographical space-time conversion, the ruthless passage of youth. In this article, the author intends to use the book "Taipei" as the background, and "empathy", "satire art" as the theme of the study, in-depth analysis of "Taipei people" in the short messag as well as the implied mood. In order to clarify the author Bai Xianyong those hesitant, ambiguous, but intriguing, thought-provoking novel fragments.

Suppression of Aurora-A oncogenic potential by c-Myc downregulation
The abnormality of serine/threonine kinase Aurora-A is seen in many types of cancers. Although in physiological context it has been shown to play a vital role in cellular mitosis, how this oncogene contributes to tumorigenesis remains unclear. Here we demonstrate that Aurora-A overexpression enhances both the expression level and transcriptional activity of c-Myc. The inhibition of c-Myc expression by RNA interference significantly impaired the oncogenic potential of Aurora-A, resulting in attenuated cellular proliferation and transformation rates as well as fewer centrosomal aberrations. Furthermore, downregulation of c-Myc effectively overcame Aurora-A-induced resistance to cisplatin in esophageal cancer cells. Taken together, our results suggest an important role for c-Myc in mediating the oncogenic activity of Aurora-A, which may in turn allow for future targeting of c-Myc as a potential therapeutic strategy for tumors with Aurora-A overexpression
