TransComputational Pavilion 2.0
Under the name, Trans-Computational Membranes, the Architectural Association Visiting School Madrid challenges the notion of flexibility within the context of spatial re-adaptation. The textile pavilion developed for the 2014 Visiting School was conceived from the idea of utilising low cost materials with a high degree of flexibility, interweaving elements together for creating localised stiffness in areas of the structure having a higher level of stress. In continuum mechanics, stress refers to a physical quantity that expresses the internal forces that each particle exerts on its neighbour. Trans-Computational Pavilion 2.0 aims to introduce a broader concept of what a particle (or minimal element) could be, understanding each flexible element within it as representing the particles in a continuous material. PVC pipes bundle into new structural objects and textile pieces get stitched together to generate continuous surfaces. Thus the multiple membranes generate compression rings for PVC pipes to stay connected, at the same time this linear structure is pushing each of these membranes to maintain their tension, creating a symbiotic relationship which results in a stiff architectural element in which every particle plays an essential role in the global equilibrium, producing an irreducible ecology of different materials. Interactive lighting become a third material integrated in the structure, as local colours and intensities fluctuate not only due to changes in the light source but also in relation to its distance to every one of the translucent layers that conform the object, as well as reacting to users interaction. This modifies the readability of the structure not only as a whole but at every local level of its topology, keeping it reactionary to different conditions in its surroundings. The Trans-Computational pavilion has recently been exhibited during the Week of Architecture in Madrid (03-12 October 2014) organised by The Official College of Architects. In a larger term it will establish the basic principles for a rapid reoccupation system, offering not only basic and temporal spaces but also permanent and fully equipped structures
Abstract: This study investigates how Jorge Luis Borges builds Sur neighborhood as mythic space in his first three books of poetry. To this end, we analyzed how the representation of such a space make of it a symbolic and later a mythical space, both in the overall work of the author, but also that individual movement of Borges that achieve the collective imagination of the city. Still we have studied how the personal memory and the imagery is able to create emotional spaces, which constitute the totality of texts by the author
Strengthening Youth Well-being: A socio-emotional education strategy for teenagers in comprehensive care.
Fundación Universitaria Juan de CastellanosMagíster en Salud Mental ComunitariaMaestríaSocial-emotional education aims to recognize one's own emotions and those of others, as well as to assertively manage responses through appropriate self-regulation, which promotes social and interpersonal relationships, as well as collaboration with others. As a formative process, it focuses on the development and practice of emotional intelligence and skills identified as emotional competencies or soft skills, associating elements from brain neuroplasticity, positive stimuli, parenting styles, and protective environments. These skills are educable or can be developed. From this perspective, social-emotional education strategies refer to the Ministry of National Education's program "Emociones Conexión Vital" and are adapted for the life course of youth. The objective is to design a social-emotional education strategy for adolescents and young people in the Specialized Care Center in the city of Tunja through a toolbox and a workshop plan to consolidate spaces for reflection on mental health and psychosocial support
Daily Reflections (Meditations) on the Scriptures from the Roman Catholic Lectionary.
For people of the 21st century, and especially for people born and raised in a country ruled by democracy, the very notion of nobility as a social class is quite foreign. So the fact that Aloysius was born into a noble family and was heir to the family title of nobility may not mean to us as much as the fact that he was born into a wealthy and influential family. Wealth and clout we do understand. Why, then, would a young man give up that wealth and influence? There may not be a valid answer to that question, because "Why?" is a head question, while Aloysius' answer came from the heart, and we cannot quite address head questions with heart answers.|His answer addressed a deeper heart question: "What, then, will one gain by winning the whole world and forfeiting one's soul?" [Mt. 16:26] He really had it made by being the heir to the title of Marquis of Castiglione. He did not even have to enter the race to come ahead. Yet the gospel question kept hounding him. A question that in contemporary and non-scriptural form was answered by author Ann Quindlen in her commencement address at Villanova University, when she recalled the words sent to her by her father on a postcard: "If you win the rat race, you are still a rat." In that light, wealth and clout lose their tantalizing attraction.|Today's gospel, then, is most pertinent: "How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God!" It sounded astonishing to the Apostles and it still sounds hard to us. Is something wrong with being rich? After all, the Patriarchs are portrayed as being immensely rich and their very wealth was seen as a sign of God's blessing. No, there is nothing wrong with possessing riches -and riches include our personal giftedness- but rather in being possessed by them, in allowing the tail to wag the dog. The more wealth and influence we can count on to sustain our sense of self-sufficiency, the harder it is for us to recognize and own our radical self-insufficiency before God. That is why it is so "hard for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God." The Patriarchs did recognize and own before God their self-insufficiency and, in the midst of their wealth, they remained anawim. So did Aloysius Gonzaga, the heir to the house of Castiglione
arquitectónico propiamente dicho, amarrando y vinculando espacios
de interés cultural en la ciudad
