AI3SD Video: The Application of Machine Learning in Molecular Spectroscopy Study
Optical-spectroscopy provides powerful toolkits to decipher molecular structures and their configuration evolutions. However, the theoretical analysis of spectroscopic signals and connecting them with structural detail is a challenging task. Moreover, the intrinsic complexity of spectroscopic signals of molecular systems makes it difficult to correlate spectral characteristics with the underlying molecular structure and dynamics. Herein, we have developed data-driven machine learning (ML) protocols that can predict infrared (IR), ultraviolet/visible (UV/Vis) and Raman spectra of molecule systems with 3 to 5 orders of magnitude reduced computation cost compared to direct quantum chemistry calculations. A convolutional neural network (CNN) model was trained and tested on a dataset consisting 87993 spectra computed from protein peptide segments with α-helical, β-sheet, and other typical secondary structures. The secondary structure classification accuracy reached near 100% and over 98.7% on spectra sets of new segments extracted from the same and homologous proteins, respectively. Importantly, we demonstrate the ML protocol to realize cost-effective relations between spectra, structure, and chemical properties, i.e. spectra determination/prediction from structural information, and configuration or chemical properties determination/recognition from spectroscopic signals.1. Jiang Jieshi : from fascination to disappointment of the bolshevik revolution
This article is dedicated to Jiang Jieshi's - one of the greatest leaders of 20th century China - attitude to the Bolshevik Revolution. After introduction the author outlines the May Fourth Movement, where it explains the reasons of rejection of the traditional culture by the Chinese intellectuals and their interest in the Russian Revolution. The main part of the article focuses on the reasons of Jiang Jieshi's fascination of the revolution's phenomenon, and on the explanation of his disappointment of the Bolshevik Revolution and the Soviet Russia for which his mission to Moscow in 1923 had played a crucial role

Virgibacillus xinjiangensis sp. nov., isolated from a salt lake of Xin-jiang province in China
A strictly aerobic Gram-positive, moderately halophilic spore forming bacterium, designated strain SL6-1T, was isolated from a salt lake in Xin-jiang province, China. Growth of strain SL6-1T was observed at NaCl concentrations of 0~20% (w/v) (the optimum being 5~7%, w/v). The peptidoglycan type of strain SL6-1T was Alγ-meso-diaminopimelic acid and its major cellular fatty acids were iso-C14:0 and iso-C16:0 and ante-iso-C15:0. The major respiratory isoprenoid quinone was MK-7 and the G+C content of the genomic DNA was 44.5 mol%. The major cellular phospholipids were phosphatidylglycerol and diphosphatidylglycerol. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain SL6-1T formed a phylogenetic lineage within the genus Virgibacillus. Based on 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity, the strain was most closely related to Virgibacillus olivae E308T, Virgibacillus kekensis YIM kkny16T, Virgibacillus marismortui DSM 12325T with 97.1%, 97.1%, and 97.0% gene sequence similarities, respectively and the sequence similarities to other related taxa were less than 96.7%. The DNA relatedness values between strain SL6-1T and V. olivae E308T, V. kekensis YIM kkny16T, V. marismortui DSM 12325T were 16.7%, 51.0%, and 22.8%, respectively. On the basis of physiological, biochemical and phylogenetic properties, strain SL6-1T represents a novel species, for which the name Virgibacillus xinjiangensis sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is SL6-1T (=KCTC 13128T =DSM 19031T).open
Nowe spojrzenie na planowanie architektury mieszkaniowej w afryce subsaharyjskiej
The author shares his reflections on state of art in housing and urban planning, deficiencies, expectations and possibilities in the Sahel region of Africa. He notices, that the housing problem in Africa is one of the challenges, which should be solved in order to recover life dignity of African people and secure their rights to traditional family life in acceptable conditions. The paper describes the studies on the typical dispersed urban structures and the need to foster this type of settlement structure and proposals of introduction of new on light steel frame housing system in the area of Sahel, combining the traditional way of building houses with modern technology. The particularly analysed case, is the housing problem in the Republic of Chad. The author presents the basic discussion on this topic and his architectural proposals. Unfortunately, the gap between the needs and the financial feasibility of housing construction in this area, makes this project already at the starting point extremely difficult to be realized without external subventions.
