The impact of improved passenger transport system on manufacturing plant productivity
No full textIn this paper, we examine the effect of transportation infrastructure on the productivity of manufacturing plants. In particular, we analyze whether improved passenger transportation connections to metropolitan cities positively affect manufacturing plant productivity in peripheral regions. The introduction of the Korea Train eXpress (KTX) high-speed train in 2004 allows us to examine the impact of improved passenger transport. Applying a difference-in-differences framework to plant-level data, we examine whether the productivity of manufacturing plants in counties with high-speed train stations improves more than that in counties without high-speed train stations after the KTX introduction. The results suggest an increase of approximately 5 percent in the productivity of manufacturing plants due to the introduction of the high-speed rail.1
The impact of the minimum wage on the characteristics of new establishments: Evidence from South Korea
No full textThis paper examines how the minimum wage affects the characteristics of new establishments. We utilize the introduction of a minimum wage of South Korea in 1988 and exploit a data covering the universe of new plants subject to this law. From difference-in-differences analyses, we first confirm that the introduction of the minimum wage caused new plants to remit higher remuneration to workers. Due to the minimum wage, new plants tended to start with fewer employees and to equip their employees with more capital. Finally, we find that the minimum wage led to higher labor productivity among entering plants.1

For feminist theologians who imagine with doctrine, the heart-beat of feminist theology is a double outward and inward impetus in relation to received doctrinal traditions: on the one hand, an outward constructive impetus away from the core of regulatory orthodox doctrine in favour of its own unimpeded creative constructions; on the other, an inward trajectory in response to the “pull” exerted by doctrine, through insisting on the orthodoxy of creative imagining with doctrine.\ud

Global issues press on our creative imaginings as we grapple with our own received doctrines. Shaped by our past traditions as we in turn imagine their current and future form, we glimpse a Christian gospel of love and justice that has always been among “us”—the current gatherings of Christians throughout the history of our faith—even while western Christendom and other iterations of Christian faith have as often exacerbated the violence and injustice of the world. This band of constructive theologians keeps company with those who have caught a love of justice throughout Christian history then use it as the key for understanding their faith. White feminist theology is both enriched and diminished by dialogue with theologies of women of colour. Constructive theologies including the imaginings of Latina/mujerista, evangélica, womanist, and Asian American women deserve attention from all theologians, men as well as women.

As they address these doctrines and give shape to new ecotheologies, the volume's diverse set of contributors reflect on constructive projects from within their respective faith traditions. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan mengenai hierarki tokoh Ji Sun Woo di masyarakat dalam drama The World Of The Married yang ditinjau dari ketidakadilan gender. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif yang sifatnya deskriptif. Metode penelitian ini digunakan untuk menganalisis data deskriptif yang ada pada drama dalam bentuk dialog kemudian peneliti mentranskripkannya dalam bentuk foto (screenshoot) pada pembahasan nantinya. Teknik pengumpulan data yang dilakukan peneliti pada drama The World Of The Married karya Joo Hyun yang MP4 nya sudah peneliti download dan tersimpan di dalam flashdisk. Dari hasil penelitian ini, ditemukan 5 jenis bentuk ketidakadilan yang terjadi pada tokoh Ji Sun-woo. Dalam 5 jenis ketidakadilan gender itu terdiri dari, (1) menjadi direktur rumah sakit yang terdapat sebanyak 3 data, (2) menjadi seorang dokter terdapat sebanyak 1 data, (3) menjadi anggota asosiasi wanita terdapat sebanyak 1 data, (4) menjadi seorang istri terdapat sebanyak 3 data, dan (5) menjadi seorang anak terdapat sebanyak 3 data.Kata kunci: Ketidakadilan gender, Drama Korea, Hierark
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
