High School Education at Jhang and Lahore
Ruchi Ram Sahni describes three eventful years during which he left Dera Ismail Khan in order to finish a high school education—first in the town of Jhang, more than a hundred miles away, across a waterless desert, then in Lahore. Part of the chronicle involves his adventures getting to and from Jhang, first by boat and then on camel-back; on another occasion walking the entire distance in order to save money; and on a third almost being drowned on a boat crossing the River Chenab. After his favourite teacher retires from the school in Jhang, Sahni runs away to Lahore to seek a more challenging education. Much of the narrative relates to his education in Lahore—his teachers, his increasingly cosmopolitan schoolmates, and a growing awareness of his nature as a ‘social rebel’ who challenges Hindu religious practices and superstitions.</p

중수소-삼중수소를 연료로 사용하는 토카막 핵융합로에서 알파입자에 의한 부트스트랩 전류의 변분법적 계산
학위논문(박사) - 한국과학기술원 : 물리학과, 1997.8, [ 89, [12] p. ]A general analytic expression for bootstrap current driven by fusionborn alpja particles is obtained in a deutrium-tritium tokamak plasma using a kinetic variational theory. A self-adjoint form of linearized coulomb collision operator, which includes both energy and pitch angle collisions, has been used. The formula is applied to predict alpha-driven bootstrap current in a reactor condition similar to that of the international Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor Conceptual Design (ITERCDA) parameters. The result agrees well with results obtained using another technique [Hsu et al. Phys. Fluids B4, 4023(1992)].한국과학기술원 : 물리학과

P-Value Approximation For The Log-Likelihood Ratio Statistic To Vector Autoregression
We are interested in the probability that the maximal value of a stochastic process exceeds a value a. The change-point detection is an example. A p-value approximation is obtained as a is large enough for testing a null hypothesis that all observations from the standard normal distribution are independent on the multi-dimensional index set against an alternative that they have a specific form on a particular subregion of the multi-dimensional index set, which is assigned to a vector autoregressive model in this paper. The VAR model is a natural extension of the univariate autoregressive model when multiple time series is concerned. Many methods have been developed to approximate the tail probabilities of the distribution of the maximum under null hypothesis. We use the method introduced by Yakir and Pollak to find a representation for the p-value approximation as a is large
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

On p-Dunford integrable functions with values in Banach spaces
[EN] Let (Omega, Sigma, mu) be a complete probability space, X a Banach space and 1 X. Special attention is paid to the compactness of the Dunford operator of f. We also study the p-Bochner integrability of the composition u o f: Omega->Y , where u is a p-summing operator from X to another Banach space Y . Finally, we also provide some tests of p-Dunford integrability by using w*-thick subsets of X¿.Research partially supported by Ministerio de Economia, Industria y Competitividad and FEDER under projects MTM2014-53009-P (J.M.
