Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used

Get PDF학위논문 (석사)-- 서울대학교 대학원 : 협동과정 미술교육전공, 2016. 8. 김형숙.본 연구는 미술과(科) 교수-학습에서, 해당 미술 활동들이 학생들에게 보다 의미 있는 학습으로 전환되기 위해 어떠한 접근이 필요한가라는 질문으로부터 출발하여, 그를 위한 미술교육의 방법적 원리를 탐색하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 이에 대한 한 가지 접근으로서 미국의 교육철학자 맥신 그린(Maxine Greene, 1917∼2014)의 심미적 교육(Aesthetic education)을 소개하고자 한다. 그린은 교육에서 예술이 지니는 중요성을 일찍이 인식하였고, 예술을 매개로한 교육이 무엇이며 그것은 어떻게 가능한가를 연구 및 실천하는 데 일생을 헌신해 왔다. 미적체험 예술교육이라고도 잘 알려진 그린의 심미적 교육은 예술을 매개로 한 학습의 과정과 경험들이 어떻게 교육으로 전환되며 학습자 개개인에게 의미를 지닐 수 있는지, 다시 말해 미적체험이 일어날 수 있는 조건들을 보여줌으로써 예술교육의 원리와 중요성을 설명해준다.
미술과 교육이 미술적 지식의 습득이나 기량 중심 교육을 넘어 의미 있는 학습으로 전환되기 위한 교육의 방향성, 방법적 원리, 조건들에 관한 탐색을 위해 본 연구는 다음과 같이 진행되었다.
Ⅰ장에서 언급한 문제의식을 바탕으로 Ⅱ장에서는 교육철학자 맥신 그린의 생애를 검토하였다. 그녀가 교육철학자로서 교육에 대하여, 그리고 예술에 대하여 어떤 방식으로 이해해 왔는지를 그녀 삶의 맥락 속에서 이해하기 위함이다. 열정적인 지식인이자 행동하는 지성으로서 자신의 철학을 실천해왔던 그린의 생애 전반, 그리고 그녀가 지향하는 교육의 이상인 민주주의에 대한 언급, 그리고 심미적 교육에서 가장 중심이 되는 예술이라는 개념이 그녀의 삶 속에서 어떻게 녹아들어왔는지 살펴보고 그를 바탕으로 한 그린의 교육적 신념을 이해하고자 하였다.
Ⅲ장 1절에서는 심미적 교육에 대한 본격적 이해에 앞서 그것이 탄생하게 된 배경을 조명하였다. 맥신 그린의 심미적 교육은 어떠한 교육적 현실 속에서 구체화 되었는지, 그린이 지니고 있던 문제의식은 무엇이었는지를 검토해보았다. 이어 Ⅲ장 2절에는 심미적 교육의 여러 내용 중에서도 예술, 의식적 참여, 깨어있음이라는 세 가지 키워드를 중심으로 그 개념과 특징을 해석하고자 하였다. 또한 심미적 교육이 실제 교육 현장에서 어떻게 구현될 수 있는가에 대한 이해를 위하여 Ⅲ장 3절에서는 그 대표적인 사례 두 가지(링컨센터의 심미적 교육 프로그램, 서울 문화재단의 미적체험 예술교육)를 간략히 살폈다.
Ⅳ장의 경우 미술과 교육 내 교수-학습 활동의 맥락에서 심미적 교육을 해석해보는 작업으로 이루어져 있다. Ⅳ장 1절에서는 심미적 교육의 관점을 빌렸을 때 미술과 교육에서는 어떠한 방향성을 제안할 수 있는지를 고민하고, 그에 따라 교수-학습 모형 개발의 큰 틀을 설정하였다. 교육의 방향성과 목표, 학습 제재에 맞추어 개발된 교수-학습 모형에 의거, Ⅳ장 2절에서는 차시별 교수-학습 지도안의 형태로 그를 구체화 시켰다. 풍경화라는 학습 제재를 선정, 각 세부 학습 제재에 따라 4차시 분량의 지도안이 작성되었는데 이는 미술과 교육에서 이루어져야 할 하나의 표본으로 제시되었다기보다, 심미적 교육이라는 한 가지 관점을 적용하여 미술과 교수-학습을 다시 바라보기 위한 시도에 더 가깝다.
Ⅴ장에서는 심미적 교육의 관점에서 지금의 미술과 교육은 어떠한 가능성과 한계를 지니고 있는지, 이러한 상황에서 우리는 무엇을 할 수 있으며 무엇을 해야 하는지, 연구의 전 과정을 통한 성찰의 결과를 종합적으로 정리하였다.
그린의 심미적 교육론은 개개인들로 하여금 깨어있음이라는 교육적 지향을 위해 조화로운 것들에 맞서게 하거나, 불완전성을 추구하는 방식의 자기반성과 성찰을 요한다. 이러한 점에서 그것은 학생 및 교사에게 보다 적극적인 태도와 배움의 자세를 요구하고 있다. 또한 심미적 교육에서 교사는 그러한 불완전성의 추구를 통해 배울 줄 알고, 그로써 자기 내면 및 내적 가치를 발견할 줄 아는 사람이어야 한다. 이에 교수-학습 과정의 상당 부분들이 교사 개개인의 감수성이나 역량에 좌우될 수 있다는 점, 그로 인해 표준화되고 통일된 기준을 적용하여 이를 구체화하기 어렵다는 점 등이 한계로 지적될 수 있을 것이다. 그러나 이는 역으로 교사 스스로에게 획일적이고 표준화된 기준을 따라야 하는가에 대한 의문을 제기하도록 함으로써, 교수-학습과 관련된 더 많은 가능성으로 눈을 돌리게 하고 있기도 하다. 끝으로 맥신 그린의 심미적 교육은 미술교육의 기능과 효용에 주로 주목해왔던 기존의 접근 방식에 환기를 제공한다. 오히려 그것은 미술을 매개로 개개인이 자아를 발견하고, 그 확장을 도모할 수 있도록 하는 종류의 실존적 접근을 통해 그것이 지닌 가능성과 가치를 증명하도록 한다. 그리고 이는 우리로 하여금 미술교육에 있어서 주목하지 않았던 것들, 만약(as if)의 세계이자 가능성의 세계에 대한 탐색과 고민을 새롭게 시작하도록 만든다.Ⅰ. 서론 1
