Material for Art Research: “Myna Bird” by Niu-shih-hui
As Mr. YEH Tê-hui(?-1927) mentions in his Kuanhua Pai-yung, Niu-shih-hui has been traditionally known in China as ayounger brother of Pa-ta Shan-jen. His paintings, exemplified by “Pine and Deer” (fig. 1), closely resemble those of Pa-ta Shan-jen (fig. 2). In his book titled Pa-ta Shan-jen and Niu-shih-hui, Mr. Kan'ichi SUMITOMO presented four possible hypotheses regarding the relationship between the two artists: Niu-shih-hui and Pa-ta Shan-jen could have been the same person ; They could have been brothers ; Pa-ta Shan-jen could have been an elder fellow monk of Niu-shih-hui's ; Not directly connected with Pa-ta Shan-jen at all, Niu-shih-hui could have been an ardent admirer of his. Mr. SUMITOMO eliminated the first two hypotheses on the basis of a lack of materials to prove them. Then, he stated that the third was most likely to be true, having decided that Niu-shih-hui was a monk judging from the seals he used.
Later, Mr. YEH Yeh wrote an article titled “On the Relationships between CHU Jung-chung, Niu-shihhui and Pa-ta Shan-jen” which appeared in Ta-lu Tsa-chih (No. 1, Vol. 53). He cites both the 1872 Fêng-hsin-hsien-chih and the Ch'ing-ch'u Sêngchêng-chi. The former states that Niu-shih-hui is said to have had religious training at Niu-shih-an, a temple located at Fêng-hua Hsian-shang-tsun village, also called Po-fu-ssu. The latter states that monks customarily use a sobriquet or their temple's name before their real names. From this information, Mr. YEH concludes that Niu-shih-hui was the monk Fa-hui from Niu-shih-an temple, with the sobriquets Hsing-an and Ch'ing-nien. Since the sobriquets are similar to Jen-an and Shu-nien, the sobriquets of Pa-ta Shan-jen who also at one time lived in Fêng. hsin Prefecture, Mr. YEH assumes that they were about the same age and knew each other well.
“Myna Bird” by Niu-shih-hui reproduced here is almost identical with Pa-ta Shan-jen's painting of a myna bird in the Sumitomo album of “Flowers and Miscellaneous Subjects”. Niu-shih-hui's bird however seems to be huddled up, whereas Pa-ta Shan-jen's is a relaxed, rather plump bird. Moreover, the seal appearing on the latter album leaf is traditionally said to be Pa-ta Shan-jen's own work. It looks completely different stylistically from the seal on the Niushih-hui's painting. It is very unlikely that one artist would have used two such seals. Judging from this, one can conclude that the evidence of “Myna Bird” by Niu-shih-hui strongly supports the theory that Niushih-hui and Pa-ta Shan-jen are not the same person.journal articl

The Relationships between the Shih-huo-chih in the Sung-chao kuo-shih and the Shih-huo-chih in the Sung-shi
During the Sung dynasty many versions of the national history were compiled. All these national histories included a chapter called Shih-huo-chih 食貨志. These versions of the Shih-huo-chih are not extant now in their original form, but fragments of them have been included in such books as the Sung-shih Shih-huo-chih 宋史食貨志, the Hsü Tzŭ-chih-t’ung-chien ch’ang-pien 續資治通鑑長編, the Wên-hsien t’ung-k’ao 文獻通考, the Yü-hai 玉海, the Huang-chao pien-nien kang-mu pei-yao 皇朝編年綱目備耍, and the Shang-t’ang ch’ün-shu k’ao-so 山堂群書考索. The original form of the Shih-huo-chih, therefore, can be traced to some extent. Among the above works, the preface to the Shih-huo-chih in the Sung-shih states that, though the chapter was based on the Shih-huo-chih in the Sung-chao kuo-shih 宋朝國史, the quotation was limited only to the facts worth quoting because otherwise the chapter would become too voluminous. Comparing, however, the chapter of the Sung-chao kuo-shih with the similar chapters of the above works, the Sung-shih Shih-huo-chih seems to have borrowed in its entirety this chapter in the Sung-chao kuo-shih. In other words, although the Sung-shih Shih-huo-chih is mostly based on the Shih-huo-chih in the Sung-chao kuo-shih, such chapters as the fang-t’ien 方田 were newly added, and the description of the Sung-chao kuo-shih is sometimes corrected or illustrated by new facts. Moreover, for the period after Li-tsung 理宗 at the end of the Southern Sung (1225~1279), the Sung-shih Shih-huo-chih has a unique description because the corresponding part of the Sung-chao kuo-shih is lacking. The author then compares the text of the Sung-shih Shih-huo-chih with that of the above books for the purpose of restoring the original form of the Shih-huo-chih in the Sung-chao kuo-shih. The Hsü Tzŭ-chih t’ung-chien ch’ang-pien not only quotes the Sung-chao kuo-shih most extensively but also exhaustively corrects its errors of the latter. The Wên-hsien t’ung-k’ao also greatly depends upon the Sung-chao kuo-shih without indicating the source, while the Yü-hai, indicating the source, borrows some passages. The Shan-t’ang ch’ün-shu k’ao-so quotes the sections covering the reigns of Chê-tsung 哲宗 and Hui-tsung 徽宗in the Sung-chao kuo-shih which are not clearly recorded in the other books. The Huang-chao pien-nien kang-mu pei-yao quotes, mostly in its notes, the description from the Sung-chao kuo-shih without indicating the source. Thus the Shih-huo-chih in the Sung-chao kuo-shih remains in the form of various versions quoted in other works and from these the author endeavors to restore part of the text of the Shih-huo-chih in the Sung-chao kuo-shih.journal articl
A framework of statistical process control for software development
With the globalization era, software companies around the world not only have to face competition in the domestic industry, as well as the subsequent challenge of large international companies. For this reason, domestic software companies must to upgrade their own software quality. Domestic government agencies and non-governmental units together promote Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI). Hope to improve their quality of software development process through internationalized professional evaluation.
Towards the high-maturity software development process, software development process should be estimated quantitatively in CMMI Level 4. There are frequently used statistical process control (SPC) methods, including control charts, fishbone diagram, pareto charts ... and other related practices. Its goal is to maintain stability of overall software development process, so the output performance can be expected.
Primitive SPC applied in manufacturing industry, successfully improving the quality of their products. But some characteristics of software, such as software development is human-intensive and innovative activities. It increases not only variability of control, but also difficulties of implementation.
In this study, collate and analyze the operational framework of SPC and CMMI Level 4 through study of literature and case study with the case company-A company's practices. It contains two points, one is organization point of view, the other is methodological point of view. Organizational point of view includes stage of CMMI Level 4 and SPC implemented in the software industry, as well as how to design the organizational structure. Methodological point of view includes the steps to run SPC\ue3useful methods and tools. Methodological point of view also uses control theory to collate relevant control mechanisms. Finally, we illustrate how to integrate SPC into the company's system development life cycle.
The framework can provide a reference for domestic software companies of longing for implementing CMMI Level 4 and SPC
Can a Cognitive–Perceptual–Physical Battery Predict Driving Competence for People With Mild Cognitive Impairments? A Pilot Study
Abstract
Date Presented 3/30/2017
Our research showed that some people with mild cognitive impairments can still drive safely. In addition, visuocognitive assessments, seldom included in driving evaluation in the literature, may predict performance in on-road assessment. Realistic on-road assessment is needed.

On Ssu-k’ung T’u’s Shih-p’in
This paper was drafted by Achilles Fang (1910–1995) who was a senior lecturer of the Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations of Harvard University. The paper is kept in Harvard University Archives. According to Achilles Fang’s description in the first edition, “The first draft of this iconoclastic paper was drafted in the early 1960’s and, after lying in dust for more than a decade was edited by the late John Lyman Bishop for Harvard Journal of Asiatic Studies. I have, however, held it back all this while not out of timidity. But I have found it futile to complete the demolition of the rest of the 24 poems as thoroughly I made with half of them. But those who are unabashed in their schwarmerei for this patently forged document (forged was it in spite of endorsement meted out in the Ssu-k’u Catalogue (195) and silence of Yu Chia-hsi in his Ssu-k’u t’i-yao pien-cheng, and Chang Hsin-ch’eng in Wei-shu t’ung-k’ao, will understand why I broke down my long-lasting reticence about their sacred cow: I am paying a fitting tribute to the memory of the man whom I miss as Chuang Chou missed Hui Shih. Fitting it should be, for my demolition finds its justification in the cope-stone unearthed by Bishop about 1945 somewhere in China: I am grateful to him for presenting me with his copy of a rubbing of three (Nos. 1, 6, 7) of the Shih-p’in poems attributed to Ssu-k’ung T’u (837–908) supposedly in the holograph of Yen Chen-ch’ing (709–785).” In a word, Achilles Fang found that Erh-shih-ssu Shih-p’in was a forgery and Ssu-k’ung T’u was not the original author of it.</jats:p
