Struktur, Prozess, Diskurs: Vorüberlegungen zu einer strukturellen Curriculumtheorie, Berlin 1973. Mit der Wolfgang Edelstein Memorial Lecture 2022
In this previously unpublished text, Wolfgang Edelstein has presented systematic “Preliminary Considerations for a Structural Curriculum Theory,” guided by three concepts that organize the factual and temporal-social references as well as the mode of justification of the school as a place of subject-bound instruction. In 1973, when he presented these considerations, the great dream of a comprehensive educational reform based on the comprehensive school had been shattered, which had been nurtured by the German Education Council and also pushed by the MPI for Human Development, as Edelstein soberly and critically balances at the beginning. In addition, the great promises of the various curriculum theories had come to an end, including the theory of the MPI director Saul B. Robinsohn, which was oriented toward the analysis of social need. Edelstein’s new approach was oriented toward the goal of enabling every learner to achieve self-determination in a civilization determined by the sciences, and perceived the educational system primarily as a world of learning that shapes school learning processes in their factual-temporal logic in a subject-centered way. It is thus a decidedly content- and process-oriented rather than an outcome-oriented view of schooling that he makes the central reference for theoretical work and the criterion for the design of learning processes. Learning and social psychological theories are therefore particularly intensively received, above all Jean Piaget and considerations concerning the “structure of discipline,” with which Jerome Bruner had newly inspired the teaching-related debate
Lying back and thinking of England
The UK's approach to tackling teen pregnancy and underage sex is both regressive and lazy, claims Jean Edelstein, who argues that we need a huge culture shift if we genuinely want to protect our young. Copyright (c) 2008 The Author. Journal compilation (c) 2008 ippr.

Suzuki-Edelstein Type Contractions Via Auxiliary Functions
KARAPINAR, ERDAL/0000-0002-6798-3254We prove the existence and uniqueness of a fixed point of certain type mapping, extension of Suzuki-Edelstein mapping, in a partially ordered complete metric space. Our results extend, improve, and generalize the existence results on the topic in the literature. We state some examples to illustrate our results.Islamic Azad University, Astara BranchThe first author is supported by Islamic Azad University, Astara Branch
Melvin Edelstein, Electoral Participation and Sociology in the Landes department in 1790.
Taking the example of a department far-removed from the capital, the author reviews the elections of August 1790. Far from being dominated by an active militant minority, voter participation reveals a keen interest in politics, with 61 % of active citizens present at primary assemblies. So too, the sociology of the voters and of those elected highlights the presence of a wide variety of strata from local society, especially large minorities of fanners. This prompts the author to compare his research findings with the conventional historiography and with other departments which have served as case studies.
Spin injection and inverse Edelstein effect in the surface states of topological Kondo insulator SmB6
There has been considerable interest in exploiting the spin degrees of freedom of electrons for potential information storage and computing technologies. Topological insulators (TIs), a class of quantum materials, have special gapless edge/surface states, where the spin polarization of the Dirac fermions is locked to the momentum direction. This spin-momentum locking property gives rise to very interesting spin-dependent physical phenomena such as the Edelstein and inverse Edelstein effects. However, the spin injection in pure surface states of TI is very challenging because of the coexistence of the highly conducting bulk states. Here, we experimentally demonstrate the spin injection and observe the inverse Edelstein effect in the surface states of a topological Kondo insulator, SmB6. At low temperatures when only surface carriers are present, a clear spin signal is observed. Furthermore, the magnetic field angle dependence of the spin signal is consistent with spin-momentum locking property of surface states of SmB6.National Basic Research Programs of China (973 program) [2014CB920902, 2015CB921104, 2013CB921903]; National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) [11574006, 11374020]; Strategic Priority Research Program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences [XDB04040100]; DOE BES Award [DEFG02-07ER46351]; 1000 Talents Program for Young Scientists of ChinaSCI(E)[email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected]
Irreversible Thermodynamics at Surfaces: Inverse Edelstein Effect for Topological Insulator
We employ Onsager’s irreversible thermodynamics (IrTh) to study the Inverse Edelstein effect (IEE) for a non-magnetic material (NM) adjacent to a topological insulator (TI) with a strong spin-orbit interaction. The TI surface state region is treated as quasi two-dimensional (2d). For the IEE, the source is a 3d spin flux incident from the NM that converts, at the NM/TI interface, to a quasi-2d charge current in the TI. For the Edelstein Effect (EE), the source is a quasi-2d charge flux incident from the TI that converts, at the interface, to a three-dimensional (3d) spin flux in the NM. For strong spin-orbit coupling, as considered here, when the 3d spin flux crosses to the 2d TI, the quasi-2d charge current is produced along with a quasi-2d spin accumulation. (For weak spin-orbit coupling, production of charge current and of spin accumulation are distinct processes.) We compute the associated rates of heating. The presentation of the authors' names and (or) special characters in the title of the pdf file of the accepted manuscript may differ slightly from what is displayed on the item page. Highly efficient non-relativistic Edelstein effect in nodal p-wave magnets
The origin and efficiency of charge-to-spin conversion, known as the Edelstein effect (EE), has been typically linked to spin-orbit coupling mechanisms, which require materials with heavy elements within a non-centrosymmetric environment. Here we demonstrate that the high efficiency of spin-charge conversion can be achieved even without spin-orbit coupling in the recently identified coplanar p-wave magnets. The non-relativistic Edelstein effect (NREE) in these magnets exhibits a distinct phenomenology compared to the relativistic EE, characterized by a strongly anisotropic response and an out-of-plane polarized spin density resulting from the spin symmetries. We illustrate the NREE through minimal tight-binding models, allowing a direct comparison to different systems. Through first-principles calculations, we further identify the nodal p-wave candidate material CeNiAsO as a high-efficiency NREE material, revealing a ~ 25 times larger response than the maximally achieved relativistic EE and other reported NREE in non-collinear magnetic systems with broken time-reversal symmetry. This highlights the potential for efficient spin-charge conversion in p-wave magnetic systems. © The Author(s) 2025
