Major practice in swine production at Excel farm, Barangay Pala-Pala, San Ildefonso, Bulacan
A major farm practice program was conducted at Excel Farm Corporation in Barangay Pala-pala, San Ildefonso, Bulacan. Together which seven others from the University of the Philippines at Los Baños, the author stayed in the farm from April 17 to May 15, 1999.
The author and the others were oriented with the area, the equipment and facilities for the first few days. The group was given specific individual designations and the author was assigned to the breeding section. The author was tasked to be one of the caretakers to have a hands-on experience on the activities being undertaken in the farm. The author was transferred to different phases every week. For a month the author had the opportunity to observed and practice different production and management practices in different sections of the farm. The author also had a chance to observe the operations involved in the feed mill, marketing section, waste water treatment plant and in the main office were the records were kept and evaluated
Mitogenomes from Two Uncommon Haplogroups Mark Late Glacial/Postglacial Expansions from the Near East and Neolithic Dispersals within Europe
The current human mitochondrial (mtDNA) phylogeny does not equally represent all human populations but is biased in favour of representatives originally from north and central Europe. This especially affects the phylogeny of some uncommon West Eurasian haplogroups, including I and W, whose southern European and Near Eastern components are very poorly represented, suggesting that extensive hidden phylogenetic substructure remains to be uncovered. This study expanded and re-analysed the available datasets of I and W complete mtDNA genomes, reaching a comprehensive 419 mitogenomes, and searched for precise correlations between the ages and geographical distributions of their numerous newly identified subclades with events of human dispersal which contributed to the genetic formation of modern Europeans. Our results showed that haplogroups I (within N1a1b) and W originated in the Near East during the Last Glacial Maximum or pre-warming period (the period of gradual warming between the end of the LGM, ~19 ky ago, and the beginning of the first main warming phase, ~15 ky ago) and, like the much more common haplogroups J and T, may have been involved in Late Glacial expansions starting from the Near East. Thus our data contribute to a better definition of the Late and postglacial re-peopling of Europe, providing further evidence for the scenario that major population expansions started after the Last Glacial Maximum but before Neolithic times, but also evidencing traces of diffusion events in several I and W subclades dating to the European Neolithic and restricted to Europe

ALTAR PALA OF THE WASHING OF FEET
Oltarna pala Pranje nogu (Bribir, župna crkva Sv. Petra i Pavla) do sada se, neodređeno, smatrala djelom Jacopa Palme Mlađega. Na temelju bilješke Emila Laszowskog (godine 1923.) i suvremenoga komparativnog proučavanja autor sliku pripisuje flamanskom majstoru Pieteru Thysu (1624.-1677.), sljedbeniku Antona van Dycka. Nastala je sredinom 17. stoljeća, u vrijeme kada Vinodolom gospodari obitelj Zrinski koji su je mogli nabaviti izravno u Flandliji ili Beču, gdje su imali razvijene trgovačke poslove. The altar pala of The Washing of Feet in the parish church of the Saints Peter and Paul in Bribir was until recently rather loosely attributed to lacopo Palma the Younger. Following the lead of a note by Emil Laszowski (in 1923) and of contemporary techniques of comparative study, the author attributes the painting to Pieter Thys (1 624-1677), a follower of Anton van Dyck. It was painted in the mid-seventeenth century, at the time when Vinodol was in the hands of the Zrinski family, who could have acquired it directly from Flanders or Vienna where they had important business connections
Drawing of Mission Asistencia of San Antonio at Pala, by Henry Chapman Ford, ca.1883
Photograph of a drawing of Mission Asistencia of San Antonio at Pala, by Henry Chapman Ford, ca.1883. Situated near the base of a mountain range, the majority of the mission is flat except for the bell tower (right). The tower stands within an enclosed courtyard. A group of trees are visible to the left of the mission.; "Mission San Antonio De Pala was founded by Father Antonio Peyri OFM on June 13th, 1816. It is the only one of the original Spanish California Missions to survive in its purpose of service to the Native American Indians. The Mission at Pala was built as an "assistencia" to the larger Mission at San Luis Ray - (west of Pala on Highway 76). After Mexico received independence from Spain in 1834, the California Missions continued to be ad-ministered by the founders, the Franciscan Friars. Because the Mission lands were among the most valuable in California, they were secularized and confiscated by the Mexican Government in 1835. Many Mexican landowners acquired the Mission lands for themselves. The Indian population refused to be exploited and the Mission 'ranchos' generally fell into decay." -- unknown author

Photograph of the ancient baptismal font at Mission Asistencia of San Antonio at Pala, ca.1900. The font resides in a groove cut into the wall. The pictures painted on the wall depict gravestones, a book, an arch, and corridor arches. The adobe (or brick?) floor is uneven and cracking.; "Mission San Antonio De Pala was founded by Father Antonio Peyri OFM on June 13th, 1816. Paisajes distópicos en la trilogía Bruna Husky de Rosa Montero
Nei romanzi della detective Bruna Husky, Rosa Montero si avvale di un paesaggio urbano degradato, inspirato al noto film Blade Runner. La coesistenza di elementi attuali e futuristici, permettono all’autrice di proiettare le preoccupazioni del suo presente in un Madrid distopico, a partire dal ricorso a elementi sia del romanzo poliziesco che della fantascienza. In the novels of the detective Bruna Husky, Rosa Montero uses a degraded urban landscape, inspired by the well-known film Blade Runner. The coexistence of current and futuristic elements allows the author to project the concerns of her present into a dystopian Madrid, starting from the use of elements of both hard-boiled and science fiction

The definitive version was published in Palaeontology 57 (2014): 299-342, doi:10.1111/pala.12067.Retrotapes andrillorum n. sp., Hiatella cf. arctica (Linnaeus, 1767), ?Yoldia
sp. (internal mould), and six taxa of Pectinidae are reported from the Burdigalian
section of the ANDRILL 2A core, drilled in McMurdo Sound, Ross Sea. The pectinids
are Adamussium cf. jonkersi Quaglio et al., 2010, Antarctipecten n. gen. alanbeui
(Jonkers, 2003), Austrochlamys forticosta n. sp., Austrochlamys cf. marisrossensis
Jonkers, 2003, Ruthipecten n. gen., n. sp. (not named), and a fragmentary specimen
representing an unnamed genus and species. In a revision of Antarctic Pectinidae,
Austrochlamys Jonkers, 2003, Ruthipecten n. gen. (proposed for Chlamys
(Zygochlamys) tuftsensis Turner, 1967, reported only from Wright Valley and the
Vestfold Hills, not present in ANDRILL 2A), Leoclunipecten n. gen. (proposed for
Austrochlamys gazdzickii Jonkers, 2003, reported only from Oligocene rocks of King
George Island, not present in ANDRILL 2A) and the unnamed genus in ANDRILL 2A
are assigned to subfamily Chlamydinae, tribe Chlamydini, whereas Adamussium
Thiele, 1934 and Antarctipecten n. gen. are assigned to subfamily Palliolinae, tribe
Adamussiini. The diverse Pectinidae in ANDRILL 2A suggest sea temperatures
roughly 5°C warmer than at present in the Ross Sea during Early Miocene time.MT thanks the Italian National Antarctic Program for partial

In the Mix (VIM), Void in Mineral Agregat (VMA), Void Filled with Aspalt (VFA), Marshall Quotient (MQ).
Abstract: The Effect of Nutmeg Shell Ash as Filler Substitution on AC-WC Layer Mixture. The background of this research is based on the problems in the field. The author sees that the incident in the field is very critical because it is caused by the decrease in filler material. From this, the author was moved to use nutmeg shells as a substitute for fillers in order to prevent the decrease in the decrease in fillers. The purpose of this study is to find and prove that whether nutmeg shell ash can replace or substitute filler for the AC-WC layer mixture by going through several research processes such as looking for results from examining the physical properties of the material to the Marshall Test. The research that the author is doing here is an experimental research in a laboratory. This research was conducted at the Integrated Laboratory of the University of Gorontalo. In this study, the authors made several variations for the nutmeg shell ash filler, namely 0%, 10%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%. The results of this study are all variations tested have met the specifications of each test. The tests in question are stability, melt (flow), Void In the Mix (VIM), Void in Mineral Aggregate (VMA), Void Filled with Asphalt (VFA), Marshall Quotient (MQ)
