Evaluation of information retrieval and text mining tools on automatic named entity extraction. Intelligence and security informatics. Proceedings.
We will report evaluation of Automatic Named Entity Extraction feature of IR tools on Dutch, French, and English text. The aim is to analyze the competency of off-the-shelf information extraction tools in recognizing entity types including person, organization, location, vehicle, time, & currency from unstructured text. Within such an evaluation one can compare the effectiveness of different approaches for identifying named entities.
Smart Power Devices Nanotechnology
The scope of this chapter is to present the state of the art of the available power devices, highlighting the main potential and limitation and indicating the path for the future materials and device technology that will be required to meet the request for a green energy world. Starting with a general introduction on the role of power electronics in nanoelectronics, a summary of the main advances in device technology will then be presented. Advanced new Si technologies, new power device based on silicon carbide (SiC), and gallium nitride (GaN) will be described in detail, highlighting the main potential and limitation of the different technologies. The main challenges for the availability of new materials and new substrates will also be discussed. These materials and substrates need to be available with very high quality and at low cost. This study will highlight the main issues, which are limiting the production of reliable devices in applications where, next to efficiency, reliability is also a must (automotive, satellite, etc.)
Lifetime modeling of intrinsic gate oxide breakdown at high temperature
High resolution time-dependent dielectric breakdown tests are carried out on 7.2 nm gate oxide capacitors (n-type) in the electric field range 8.3-13.2 MV/cm at high temperatures (160-240 degrees C). It is proven that even at these high temperatures log(t(BD)) is proportional to 1/E-OX and the time-to-breakdown mechanism matches the anode hole injection (AHI) model (1/E-OX model). In addition it is presented that the TDDB activation energy Ea for this type of gate oxide has linear dependence on stress electric oxide field. (C) 2007 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved

Numerical simulation of impact noise generated at the railway insulated joint
This paper presents a full finite element (FE) model of wheel-track interaction to study the wheel-rail impact noise excited by an insulated joint (IJ). The integration is performed in the time domain with an explicit central difference scheme. The vibratory behaviour of the track and wheel model are respectively validated with hammer test and Axle Box Acceleration (ABA) measurement. By making use of the calculated velocities and pressures on the vibrating surfaces, the boundary element method (BEM) based on Helmholtz equation is adopted to transform the vibrations of the wheel-track into acoustic signals. The decay rate of impact noise at different frequency bands during propagation are analysed. The predictions of total impact noise radiation and the noise contributions of different track components are in good agreement with results reported in the literature, while the effective frequency range is successfully extended from 5 kHz to 10 kHz.Accepted Author ManuscriptRailway Engineerin
