An Analysis of <i>Judge Lin</i>
Biography of Lin Wen Zhong Gong has another way to call, that is Judge Lin. The leading character is Lin Ze-Xu. This book is based on functionary experience of Lin Ze-Xu, with the captivating plots of court case, helping by highly skilled military attach\uc3\ua9s and chivalrous knights, and the history facts of Opium War. It makes Lin Ze-Xu\ue2s Confucian temperament and tragic mood more, also contrasts with author\ue2s sorrow and furiousness for the politics at the time. History, court case, martial arts\ue2\ua6\ue2\ua6etc. are essence of this book and it broadens the way of this writing style.
The topic of the thesis is \ue2An Analysis of Judge Lin\ue2. The following thesis will be divided into six different chapters. The introduction is Chapter one of the thesis, which is including researching motive and purpose, literature review of predecessors, researching version by existing information, raising questions, choosing research methods and arranging chapters. In chapter Two, I discuss the study of characters of Lin Ze-Xu, also makes a deep analysis of author\u27s purpose of writing him. In chapter Three, I analyze supporting actors and actress. Meanwhile, I illustrate author\u27s purpose of writing supporting actress because the author had different manner to describe supporting actress. Moving to the Chapter Four, I mainly focus on the plots of Judge Lin, and organize cases of Lin Ze-Xu and his subordinates to understand features of cases. In Chapter Five, I represent the causes of Opium War. China and England had difference of opinions of opium. Therefore, it is easier to comprehend what the author\u27s purpose is. Chinese SME development and industrial upgrading
Purpose: Drawing from industrial upgrading theories, this study aims to explore the issues of industrial upgrading and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) development in an emerging market – China. Design/methodology/approach: A contextual stepwise approach is undertaken by applying netnography and interviews to investigate manufacturing SMEs' perceptions on upgrading. Findings: The study outlines three economic actors – government, industry and manufacturer; two upgrading factors – internal and external; a vicious circle that consists of thin profit, quality and imitation issues; and a benign circle that incorporates a list of upgrading capabilities – research and development (R&D), creativity, design and branding – in the context of upgrading to the value-added supply chain. Research limitations/implications: By integrating the findings with relevant literature, the authors propose a framework to best illustrate manufacturing SME upgrading. The findings reveal that Chinese manufacturing SMEs acquire upgrading capabilities through organizational learning during the upgrading process, which is affected by both external and internal factors in the constraints imposed by the interplay of relevant actors. Originality/value: Through the innovative methodological approach, this study affords great insights into industrial upgrading from the perspective of manufacturing SMEs in an emerging economy – China.</p
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Lowest electronic states of neutral and ionic LiN
We have investigated the potential energy curves (PECs) of the LiN heteronuclear diatomic molecule, including its ionic species LiN+ and LiN−, using explicitly correlated multi-reference configuration interaction (MRCI-F12) calculations in conjunction with the correlation consistent quintuple- basis set. The effect of core–valence correlation, scalar relativistic effects, and the size of the basis sets has been investigated. A comprehensive set of spectroscopic constants determined based on the above-mentioned calculations are also reported for the lowest electronic states and all systems, including dissociation energies, harmonic and anharmonic vibrational frequencies, and rotational constants. Additional parameters, such as the dipole moments, equilibrium spin-orbit constants, excitation energies, and rovibrational energy levels, are also documented. We found that the three triplet states of LiN, namely, X 3∑−, A 3Π, and 2 3∑−, exhibit substantial potential wells in the PEC diagrams, while the quintet states are repulsive in nature. The ground state of the anion also shows a deep potential well in the vicinity of its equilibrium geometry. In contrast, the ground and excited states of the cation are very loosely bound. Charge transfer properties of each of these states are also analyzed to obtain an in-depth understanding of the interatomic interactions. Product innovativeness under market uncertainty: the mediating impact of market orientation and absorptive capacity
In increasingly uncertain market environments, businesses often struggle to maintain competitiveness through product innovation. Therefore, understanding how business entities, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), leverage their internal resources and capabilities to drive product innovation requires further exploration. This study, based on a survey of 313 Chinese technology-based SMEs, examines how SMEs utilise resources such as market orientation (i.e. customer orientation and competitor orientation) and absorptive capacity to enhance product development innovation in uncertain market conditions. Our findings indicate that market environmental uncertainty positively influences product innovativeness. Additionally, SMEs are more likely to prioritise processing competitor information to enhance product innovation while placing less emphasis on adopting a customer-oriented strategy in highly dynamic and uncertain markets. This study contributes to the literature by conceptualising market uncertainty as a driver of business activities and empirically testing its alignment with internal contingencies to reveal its effects on product innovativeness

This letter was sent from William E. Hoy to Mr. Ralph Elliot Lin Weber and is dated July 8, 1943. The letter recounts information about the only baseball game where Hoy, a deaf athlete, was at-bat against Taylor, also a deaf athlete. Mentioned in the letter is a typewritten play by play of the same game, copied from the Enquirer of May 17, 1902. Also included is an envelope and newspaper articles. The envelope, from International League Information, is addressed to Ralph E Lin Weber and has handwritten lists of players of N.Y. and Cincinnati. The newspaper articles are from the Dayton Daily News and the Cincinnati Enquirer and feature pictures of William E. Hoy, the author of the letter
Managing and building B2B SME brands: an emerging market perspective
PurposeThis paper aims to distil the management challenge pertaining to B2B SME branding strategy, communication and constraint in the emerging market context of Chinese manufacturing.Design/methodology/approachComplemented by 19 interviews, this paper adopted a novel methodological approach – netnographic analysis – to investigate a selection of Chinese manufacturing SMEs.FindingsFindings revealed three managerial approaches to B2B brand management: conservative, flexible and integrated-exploratory.Practical implicationsUnderstanding the three approaches offers managerial implications for Chinese manufacturer SMEs to redesign their branding practice. Informed with a better understanding of the available option, they will be able to achieve high value-added production through branding to gain competitiveness. This study sheds light on B2B SME branding from an emerging market perspective, an area that has been largely neglected in the existing literature.Originality/valueFindings make a novel contribution to B2B SME brand management literature by clarifying practical management issues pertinent to Chinese emerging market manufacturers in particular, and offering widely generalizable lessons for B2B brand management research
