A Framework for Control and Co-Simulation in Distribution Networks Applied to Electric Vehicle Charging with Vehicle-Originating-Signals

    No full text
The increasing share of renewable energy sources and distributed energy generation (DER) in the energy mix brings a number of challenges to the power system, particularly to the distribution network (DN). New control methods and algorithms are being studied to address these challenges, but the effects of such algorithms on actual DNs are often difficult to validate. Co-simulation, considering the advanced state of existing DN simulation tools, is a potential solution but usually requires some degree of expertise. In this work, we introduce a framework tor implementing control algorithms tor DNs assisted by co-simulation. This framework uses the commercial simulator PowerFactory but does not require a high tool-specific expertise and can be integrated into other simulation tools. Then we apply this framework to an electric vehicle charging use case and show the results and benefits. Furthermore we extend an existing charging control algorithm to support local voltage control

Note by Schwalm on a Meeting with Hans Jacobsen, September 18,1942

Schwalm describes a meeting with Hans Jacobsen, Fylkesmann of Østfold and founder of the journal Ragnarok. In the meeting, Schwalm inquired about individuals from the Ragnarok circle who might be useful in the cultural and racial research projects he wished to conduct in Norway. Most individuals mentioned were not suitable for various reasons, often anti-NS and anti-German sentiment due to events and behavior related to the occupation of Norway. Jacobsen himself was willing to contribute but did not show interest in leadership of a committee. They agreed to continue to meet as circumstances allowed.https://digitalcommons.ursinus.edu/norwegian/1002/thumbnail.jp

Smart Buildings and Smart Grids (Dagstuhl Seminar 15091)

This report provides an overview of the program, discussions, and outcomes of Dagstuhl Seminar 15091 "Smart Buildings and Smart Grids", which took place from 22-27 February 2015 at Schloss Dagstuhl - Leibniz Center for Informatics. The main goal of the seminar was to provide a forum for leading Energy Informatics (EI) researchers to discuss their recent research on Smart Buildings and Smart Grids, to further elaborate EI research agenda and methods, and to kick-start new research projects with industry. The report contains abstracts of talks that were held by the participants and the outcomes of several discussion sessions on the focal topics of the seminar (e.g., information technology driven developments in building and power system management, as well as cross-cutting topics, such as computer networks, data management, and system design

    Arno Herzberg Collection 1930s-1992

The collection consists most entirely of newspapers clippings of Arno Herzberg’s articles. The articles deal with the Jewish situation in Germany in the 1930s, Israel and her problems with the outside world, Jewish holidays, and a small amount of articles dealing with economic issues, such as taxes. Other materials include a small amount of correspondence, manuscripts (all the manuscripts are photocopies lacking any annotations or remarks), and a memoir depicting the Hess family members between 1930 and the 1940s, including their imprisonment in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. There are no materials dealing with Arno Herzberg’s involvement with the Jewish Telegraphic Agency and very few materials pertaining to his primary profession (accounting.)Arno Herzberg was born in Germany in 1908. Between 1934 and 1937 he served as head of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, an international news agency. Arno Herzberg left Germany in the late 1930s and settled in New York. He worked as a public accountant and published extensively on topics such as German Jews, Israel, and the Holocaust. He published most of his articles in the Jewish press. Arno Herzberg died in 2002Arno Herzberg was also the author of 'Der Kontingentsbegriff im Recht : (Beteiligungsziffern) eine wirtschaftsrechtliche Studie', published in 1932 and 'Saving Taxes through Capital Gains', 1957.digitize

Integrating Process-Oriented and Event-Based Systems (Dagstuhl Seminar 16341)

    No full text
This report documents the programme and the outcomes of Dagstuhl Seminar 16341 on "Integrating Process-Oriented and Event-Based Systems", which took place August 21--26, 2016, at Schloss Dagstuhl -- Leibniz Center for Informatics. The seminar brought together researchers and practitioners from the communities that have been established for research on process-oriented information systems on the one hand, and event-based systems on the other hand. By exploring the use of processes in event handling (from the distribution of event processing to the assessment of event data quality), the use of events in processes (from rich event semantics in processes to support for flexible BPM), and the role of events in process choreographies, the seminar identified the diverse connections between the scientific fields. This report summarises the outcomes of the seminar by reviewing the state-of-the-art and outlining research challenges on the intersection of process-oriented and event-based systems
