A Manifesto Has Come to Light
"From July to August 2015, Dr. Jeanne Randolph, Jacob Wren, Bodgan Cheta, Jillian Fleck, and JD Mersault came together to participate in TNG’s thematic group residency to develop a new work that explored the convergence between art making and art writing. This project addressed questions such as, ‘Can writing about art be art?’ and ‘Does art criticism have to exist as reviews, essays, etc.?’
The artists decided that the outcome of the residency would be a novel called a manifesto has come to light… and that the work would be widely distributed at no cost. Cheta, Fleck, and Mersault each created content for their own episode, a broadsheet-style publication that also included a continuous line of dialogue between Randolph and Wren that contextualized the project. 3000 copies of each episode were distributed throughout Calgary, Winnipeg (MB), Montreal (QC), and Dundee (SCT) in three phases – one at the end of February, March, and April in 2016." -- Publisher's website

Louise Kolm-Fleck
Louise Veltée, later called Louise Kolm and then Louise Fleck due to her two marriages, is the first known female film producer, screenplay author, and director in the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. Although several documents on this female film pioneer have been preserved, it is still almost impossible to draw an exact picture of her contributions, especially as her archival papers and estate, located at the Austrian Film Archive, are not publicly accessible and detailed research has so far not been possible. While many of her films from 1919 onward are extant, only a few films from the early 1910s have been preserved, allowing for only a narrow appreciation of the beginning of her career as a screenplay author, producer, and director. As Kolm-Fleck frequently worked with her husbands on film productions, her work can be understood in the context of collaboration, as she was a team member and a partner, as well as an influential comrade-in-arms in the efforts to construct a national film industry at the time of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy
To Forgive or Not to Forgive: A Comparative and Correlational Study of Dispositional Forgiveness in the Nonprofit and For-Profit Sectors
2023Forgiveness is a concept praised in many major religions and treasured in cultures worldwide as a foundational ethical tenet. Research demonstrates that the act of forgiving reduces conflict and provides physical and mental health benefits to both the victim and transgressor. This dissertation fills a gap in academic research by investigating workforce forgiveness by business sector. Using the Heartland Forgiveness Scale, the purpose of this quantitative study was to examine the relationship between employee dispositional forgiveness (including the subscales of forgiveness of self, forgiveness of other, and forgiveness of situation) and employment sector (nonprofit and for-profit) of professionals living in the St. Louis, Missouri region. Study results indicate that employees in nonprofit and for-profit environments living or working in the St. Louis area report statistically similar results in all forgiveness categories. Results also indicate a correlation between for-profit forgiveness and organizational size, as for-profit organizations with smaller budgets have a higher rate of total forgiveness than their larger counterparts, and smaller for-profit organizations, measured by both population and budget, have a higher rate of forgiveness of situation. As a result, the author has suggested the use of the REACH Forgiveness Model and associated training materials as a tool to increase rates of dispositional forgiveness in both nonprofit and for-profit sectors, with specific attention to larger for-profit organizations that scored lower on the forgiveness scale than their smaller for-profit counterparts
Comparison of conventional eight-point crown projections with LIDAR-based virtual crown projections in a temperate old-growth forest
Introduction Sight-based field measurements of tree crown projection area and canopy height are common praxis in forest science but difficult to validate. We quantified their measurement errors based on the virtual representation of an 11-species old-growth forest provided by high-resolution terrestrial LIDAR (light detection and ranging) measurements. Objectives Based on the expectations (a) that violations of the triangulation theory are the main error source of height measurements, and (b) that approximations of tree crowns with fixed angles are not flexible enough for irregular crown shapes in natural stands, we investigated the relative accuracies of triangulation measurements of height of crown base (B T) vs. tree height (H T) and of different crown projection methods. B T (±0.52 m) showed lower measurement errors than H T (±2.4 m). Results and conclusions Larger deviations between field-measured and virtually executed crown projections could partly be attributed to structural differences of the crowns that were two-dimensionally quantified as space capture index (SCI). The largest deviations between both methods occurred on suppressed tree crowns and tall Quercus robur trees in the stand. Because of the method-inherent underestimation of crown projections with fixed angular grid, we propose the use of flexible angles by trained operators
Ludwik Fleck: la teoría de los estilos de pensamiento y de los colectivos de pensamiento
The article contributes to the dissemination of the philosophical analysis of science developed by Ludwik Fleck, through the conceptual elucidation of the theory of Thinking Styles and Thinking Collective. For it; at first, a biographical of the author is exposed that allows to identify the context in which the theory arises and; in a second moment, the elements are characterized make up this theory. Finally, some of the contributions of the Fleckeana proposal for research in the social sciences are enunciated.

Sciences, objectivity and realism between Ludwik Fleck and contemporary debates
International audienceIn this paper, I explore the philosophical and scientific positions of Ludwik Fleck, author of the first theory of democratic science and, at the end of the day, a scientific realist. This interpretation of his work is somewhat at odds with the more standard approach, wherein Fleck is presented as a pioneer of relativism or of social constructivism in the philosophy of sciences. In the following, I discuss Fleck's philosophical context o er an analysis of a few of his better-known interpretations and offer a final perspective by showing his commitment to the reality of scientific practice, notwithstanding his scepticism towards scientific theories. And while this paper is an attempt to o er an alternative reading of Fleck's positions, it also aims at reaffirming a stance already defended by, among others, Ian Hacking. Scientific realism needs to be understood not in opposition to a historical perspective on dynamically developing sciences, but along with this perspective
