The power of indigenous spirit world is harnessed for the common good of the indigenous communities and the regenerative power of mother earth. This everyday mysticism of the world as spirited and sacred serves to re-enchant a world disillusioned by the unsustainability of destructive economic systems that have spawned the current ecological crises.

Someone else's shoes /
"A story of mix-ups, mess-ups and making the most of second chances, this is the new novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Jojo Moyes, author of Me Before You and The Giver of Stars. Who are you when you are forced to walk in someone else's shoes? Nisha Cantor and Sam Kemp are two very different women. Nisha, 45, lives the globetrotting life of the seriously wealthy, until her husband inexplicably cuts her off entirely. She doesn't even have the shoes she was, until a moment ago, standing in. That's because Sam--47, middle-aged, struggling to keep herself and her family afloat--has accidentally taken Nisha's gym bag. Now Nisha's got nothing. And Sam's walking tall with shoes that catch eyes--and give her a career an unexpected boost. Except Nisha wants her life back--and she'll start with her shoes... Someone Else's Shoes is a funny, moving and heartfelt story about how, for any of us just one little thing can suddenly change everything"-
Whither Geographic Proximity? Bypassing Local R&D Units in Foreign University Collaboration
MNCs often engage in international research collaborations with foreign universities through one of their central R&D laboratories (at headquarters or elsewhere) even though they operate a local R&D unit close to that university, and hence forego the benefits of geographic proximity and local collaboration. Drawing on the knowledge-based theory of the firm, we hypothesize that the choice between distant and local collaboration systematically relates to the knowledge capabilities of the firms’ R&D units, the characteristics of the focal knowledge, and local knowledge leakage risks. Analysis of close to 13,000 research collaborations with foreign universities by the world’s major biopharmaceutical firms (1995-2015) confirms that collaboration at distance occurs if this allows the firm to benefit from scale and knowledge diversity advantages, if the central unit has strong basic research capabilities, and if collaboration is in a core research domain of the MNC while rival firms are locally present. Maturity of the focal research domain is associated with local collaboration. Our findings qualify the common argumentation in favor of collaboration in proximity and suggest that (distant) central R&D units are important orchestrators of research collaboration with universities around the globe.sponsorship: The authors wish to thank the editor Ilan Vertinsky, three anonymous reviewers, Christophe Grimpe, Filip De Beule, and participants at the AIB conference in Copenhagen (2019), the SEI workshop in Munich (2018), the EIBA conference in Milan (2017), the SMS conferences in Berlin (2016) and St. Gallen (2015), the FinKT conference in Bologna (2015), and seminars at NISTEP (Tokyo), Jonkoping International Business School, and IMT Lucca for comments on earlier drafts. Sari, Titan Novita. Student Registered Number 12203183213. 2022. Critical Discourse Analysis on a Novel “Me Before You” by Jojo Moyes. Thesis. English Education Department. Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training. State Islamic University Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung 2022. Advisor: Dr. Arina Shofiya, M. Pd.
Keywords: Subject, Object, Reader, Women
Sara Mills was one of the pioneers of critical discourse analysis who wrote a lot about discourse theory. But her point of concern is mainly about how women are featured in the text, whether in novels, images, or in the news. The placement of women's positions in a discourse is one thing that deserves attention. The key points of Sara Mills’ theory in the critical analysis are the subject position, the object position, and the reader position.
In this regard, the researcher applied the Sara Mills’ theory to the popular novel "Me Before You" by Jojo Moyes with the formulation of the problems "How is the female depicted in the position of subject and object?" and "How is the position of the reader shown in the novel?". The purpose of this study is first to analyze how the female is depicted in the position of the subject and object and second to analyze how the reader is presented in the novel.
In this study, the researcher have used a type of content analysis research with a qualitative approach. The method used is discourse analysis. Because the study material is in the form of discourse content in the novel Me Before You by Jojo Moyes with the theory of Sara Mills. The researcher analyzed and found that at least 10 data corresponded to Sara Mills' theory. The details of such data; 6 female data at the position of the subject, 2 data of women in the position of the object, and 2 data on the position of the reader. The conclusion of this explanation means that Jojo Moyes must agree if her writing is supported by Sara Mills' CDA theory.
Based on these data, women who occupy the position of the subject dare to be different, women can become the backbone of the family and realize that they are not always dependent on men, women also accept themselves as they are, and finally, a mother can continue to work without abandoning her obligations as a mother.
In the position of the object, there is a patriarchal thought rooted in family life and relationships between lovers. Finally, in the position of the reader, the interests that the author wants to present in the text are in the form of economic interests . Women are required to have jobs and income. Readers are encouraged to share their opinions about the difference between the lives of the rich and the poor
