Jeremy Jackson: How We Wrecked the Ocean
Coral reef ecologist Jeremy Jackson lays out the shocking state of the ocean today: overfished, overheated, polluted, with indicators that things will get much worse. A leader in the study of the ecology and evolution of marine organisms, Jeremy Jackson is known for his deep understanding of geological time. This 18:19 minute film, filmed as part of Mission Blue Voyage in April, 2010, is one of four talks already released from the voyage. The goal of the voyage was not only to create content to help educate the world about the beauty of and problems facing the ocean but to have attendees make commitments to change. Dolores Jackson was born in 1939 and raised in Charleston, Texas. Her parents were Jack and Glenna Oats Scott. She has fond memories of growing up in Charleston, the family dairy, and school. Following graduation Jackson attended East Texas State College, now Texas A&M University-Commerce. She graduated in 1960 and married Roy Lee Jackson. The couple moved to Grand Saline, Texas, where Jackson worked as a teacher and her husband worked for Morton Salt. Five years later they moved back to Charleston.
Jackson saw many changes in her community over the years, remembering the poor roads and the development of electricity and water supplies. Jackson worked as an educator and is proud of her students\u27 accomplishments. Ligth painting karya Jeremy Jackson dipilih karena melalui teknik fotografi tertentu membentuk suatu cahaya dengan pola abstrak yang didominasi dalam bentuk lingkaran dengan warna cerah, sehingga menghasilkan visualisasi bentuk artistik. Melalui tahapan eksperimen berupa laser cutting dan quilthing dibentuk sesuai dengan stilasi deformasi light painting. Busana yang dibentuk melalui cutting stilasi deformasi light painting, sehingga dikatakan style yang digunakan yaitu arty flamboyan. Perancangan produk yang dibuat terdiri dari desain womenswear dan produk lifestyle. Womenswear yang didesain terdiri atas casual, citywear cocktail, serta evening wear yang mengacu pada bentuk bagian lingkaran yang tidak beraturan dengan warna gelap dan terang dari dua koleksi light painting karya Jeremy Jackson. Kemudian produk lifestyle terdiri dari desain gelang, anting, cincin, sepatu dan tas yang diambil dari siluet light painting yang membentuk stilasi deformasi dari lingkaran light painting. The two SCUBA divers are identified as Michael Lang, Diving Supervisor of the Smithsonian Institution, and Jeremy Jackson, Chief Scientist of the R/V (Research Vessel) Urraca, a research vessel belonging to the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute in the country of Panama. James Bond: international man of gastronomy
This article is concerned with the representation of food and drink in Ian Fleming’s James Bond novels. In particular, it examines how the author uses Bond’s culinary knowledge and habits of consumption as an important constituent of his hero’s character. Similarly, the food choices of other characters, notably villains, are shown to be linked, by Fleming, to core aspects of their identity − principally their ethnicity. Bond’s impulse to observe and classify, very much in evidence in the novels’ food sequences, is examined in terms of the texts’ construction of Bond as a skilled identifier of signs
