Gilliam Edwin Jackson, member of the Cherokee Nation, over the course of three interviews talks about growing up with Cherokee as his first language. He shares some of his early educational experiences trying to learn the English language and some of influential figures in his education. Jackson also explains differences between the two languages and his thoughts regarding education today.The Benn-Duke Collection is a series of interviews conducted in 2015 and 2016 with members of the Cherokee Nation in regards to the use of the Cherokee language and assimilating into the English-speaking environment
