    One of the possible ways to speed up scientific research projects which JINR and its Member Stateorganizations participate in is to join computational resources. It can be done in a few ways one ofwhich is to build distributed cloud infrastructures integrating local private clouds of JINR andorganizations from its Member States. To implement such scenario, a cloud bursting based approachwas chosen since it provides more flexibility in resources management of each cloud integrated intosuch distributed infrastructure. For the time being a few private clouds from some organizations fromthe JINR Member States have been already integrated with the JINR one with help of custom cloudbursting driver developed by the JINR team. Various aspects of that activity are covered in moredetails in the article as well as implemented and planned changes in the JINR cloud such as a smartscheduler deployment in production, migration from DRBD high-availability (HA) to nativeOpenNebula HA, Ceph storage deployment and VMs' disks migration to it and others

    Computing in the field of high energy physics requires usage of heterogeneous computing resources and IT, such as grid, high performance computing, cloud computing and big data analytics for data processing and analysis. The core of the distributed computing environment at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research is the Multifunctional Information and Computing Complex. It includes Tier1 for CMS experiment, Tier2 site for all LHC experiments and other grid non-LHC VOs, such as BIOMED, COMPASS, NICA/MPD, NOvA, STAR and BESIII, as well as cloud and HPC infrastructures. A brief status overview of each component is presented. Particular attention is given to the development of distributed computations performed in collaboration with CERN, BNL, FNAL, FAIR, China, and JINR Member States. One of the directions for the cloud infrastructure is the development of integration methods of various cloud resources of the JINR Member State organizations in order to perform common tasks, and also to distribute a load across integrated resources. We performed cloud resources integration of scientific centers in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia. Extension of the HPC component will be carried through a specialized infrastructure for HPC engineering that is being created at MICC, which makes use of the contact liquid cooling technology implemented by the Russian company JSC "RSC Technologies". Current plans are to further develop MICC as a center for scientific computing within the multidisciplinary research environment of JINR and JINR Member States, and mainly for the NICA mega-science project

    Present Status and Main Directions of the JINR Cloud Development

    The JINR cloud is growing not only in terms of the amount of resources, but also in the number of activities it is used for, namely, COMPASS production system services, a data management system of the UNECE ICP Vegetation, a service for disease detection of agricultural crops through the use of advanced machine learning approaches, a service for scientific and engineering computations, a service for data visualization based on Grafana, the jupyterhub head and execute nodes for it, gitlab and its runners, as well as some others. Apart from that, there was a successful attempt to deploy a virtual machine in the JINR cloud with a GPU card passed through from the server for developing and running machine and deep learning algorithms for the JUNO experiment. Moreover, the JINR distributed information and computing environment, combining resources from JINR Member State organizations with the help of the DIRAC grid interware, began to be used for running BM@N and MPD experiment jobs. The software distribution on these remote resources was performed using the CernVM File System. All these topics are covered in detail

    This paper describes the computing and networking facilities at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research. The Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) is an international intergovernmental organization located in Dubna, a small town on the bank of the Volga river 120 km north from Moscow. At present JINR has 18 Member States. The Institute consists of 7 scientific Laboratories and some subdivisions. JINR has scientific cooperation with such scientific centres as CERN, FNAL, DESY etc. and is equipped with the powerful and fast computation means integrated into the worldwide computer networks. The Laboratory of Information Technologies (LIT) is responsible for Computing and Networking at JINR. (5 refs)
