Distribution of Idanthyrsus cretus(Polychaeta:Sabellariidae) in the Tropical Eastern Pacific and application of PCR-RAPD for population analysis.
Sabellariid polychaetes, commonly known as honeycomb worms, are capable of forming large reef-like aggregations. One species, Idanthyrsus cretus, has recently been found in several localities during surveys of Las Perlas Archipelago, Pacific Panama. Large reefs of this species have not been recorded elsewhere in the Tropical Eastern Pacific. The reef distribution patterns were examined and mapped with the aid of Geographical Information Systems. Principal Component Analysis showed that the distribution of polychaete reefs in Las Perlas Archipelago and the reef building itself seem to be mainly dependent on depth, suitable substrate, and topography, the potential particle size for tube building, and wave exposure. Cluster analysis of Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA with Polymerase Chain Reaction molecular techniques demonstrated that the polychaete reefs in Las Perlas Archipelago may be derived from one population
BANKING RATING IN ROMANIA. A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS BETWEEN CAAMPL AND PERLAS MODELS
In this paper the author presents the evaluation method of the crediting risk in 20 Romanian banks, based on the
unique rating systems called CAAMPL and PERLAS models. The content of each component of this system is taken into
consideration and also the group of values attached to every component of credit risk analysis is highlighted. Finally, the
main measures that a bank has to take in order to limit credit risk are presented

Problemas en la extracción de perlas y esmeraldas en el Nuevo Reino de Granada: el informe de Pedro Puch (1766)
In the 18th century the interest of the Crown was reborn for some rather forgotten
products, especially for the pearls and emeralds of the Nueva Granada; as a result,
the y developed a series of reports. The present, till now unpublished, was conducted
by the Italian Pedro Puch, who like other foreigners has settled as technicians at
the Court. The author develops a few fundamental points: quality of the product,
inefficiency in his exploitation and control of the smugglers.Au XVIIIe siècle, il y a eu le renouveau d'intérêt de la Couronne espagnole pour

Bedside Gastric Ultrasonography in Term Pregnant Women Before Elective Cesarean Delivery: A Prospective Cohort Study
Transitory service systems
Many (perhaps most) service systems, such as repair and job shops, computation centers, and transportation networks, experience demand that is non-stationary in time. The paper describes models for situations in which demands made are by a finite number of individuals, who, having been served, do not return until much later. Such a transitory demand or arrival process describes many phenomena, among them being commuter rush hours, and also perhaps the effect on a population of individuals their simultaneous exposure to a dosage of medicine, a disease, or even a pollutant. The paper formulates several models for the service of such demands and describes the manner in which system state may be approximated by Gaussian processes, in particular the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck and Wiener diffusions. Examining the Impacts of Ecotourism on Humpback Whales (Megaptera novaeangliae) in Panama
abstract: Cetacean-based ecotourism is a popular activity and an important source of revenue for many countries. Whale watching, a subset of cetacean-based ecotourism, is vital to supporting conservation efforts and provides numerous benefits to local communities including educational opportunities and job creation. However, the sustainability of whale-based ecotourism depends on the behavior and health of whale populations and is therefore vital that ecotourism industries consider the impact their activities have on whale reproductive behavior. To address this statement, behavioral data (e.g. direction change, breaching, slap behaviors, diving, and spy hops) were collected from humpback whales (Megaptera novaeangliae) in Las Perlas Archipelago off the Pacific coast of Panama to determine if vessel presence had an influence on whale behaviors. Studies were recorded during their breeding season from August through September in 2019. Based on 47 behavioral observations, higher boat density corresponded with humpback whales changing direction which is believed to be a sign of disturbance. This result is important given Panamanian regulations implemented on February 13 of 2007 prohibit whale-based tourism from disturbing whales, which is measured as changes in behavior. Because there is no systematic monitoring of whale watching activity to enforce the regulations, there is currently little compliance among tour operators. The integration of animal behavior research into management planning will result in more effective regulation and compliance of conservation policies.Dissertation/ThesisMasters Thesis Biology 202
