During the first years of XIX century, there were many outstandins authors who defended the direct tax system which fitted better with the new liberal Constitution. This position was even further reinforced in the "Cádiz Cortes". Nevertheless, some others important atthors denied the possibility of setting up the new system in order to replace the old one. The later position began with Vicente Alcalá Galiano, continued with the debates in the Cortes Cádiz and, later on, with the works of Duaso, Pinilla and Plana to critizise the Decreto (Baill) of September, 13, 1813 on the New Public Taxes and it finished with several works by Cañedo in the second decade of the century. Ramón M. Cañedo will defend a tax system based on indirect taxes. He will based his arguments on Adam Smith in order to fit his tax principles to the system wich was better adapted to the economic and social conditions in Spain.Publicad

Nilotinib is effective in patients with chronic myeloid leukemia in chronic phase after imatinib resistance or intolerance: 24-month follow-up results
Nilotinib is a potent selective inhibitor of the BCR-ABL tyrosine kinase approved for use in patients with newly diagnosed chronic myeloid leukemia in chronic phase (CMLCP), and in CML-CP and CML-accelerated phase after imatinib failure. Nilotinib (400 mg twice daily) was approved on the basis of the initial results of this phase 2 open-label study. The primary study endpoint was the proportion of patients achieving major cytogenetic response (CyR). All patients were followed for > 24 months or discontinued early. Of 321 patients, 124 (39%) continue on nilotinib treatment. Overall, 59% of patients achieved major CyR; this was completeCyR(CCyR) in 44%. Of patients achieving CCyR,56% achieved major molecular response. CyRs were durable, with 84% of patients who achieved CCyR maintaining response at 24 months. The overall survival at 24 months was 87%. Adverse events were mostly mild to moderate, generally transient, and easily managed. This study indicates that nilotinib is effective, with a manageable safety profile, and can provide favorable long-term benefits for patients with CML-CP after imatinib failure. This trial was registered at www.clinicaltrials.gov as #NCT00109707.Hagop M. Kantarjian, Francis J. Giles, Kapil N. Bhalla, Javier Pinilla-Ibarz,Richard A. Larson, Norbert Gattermann, Oliver G. The external photoevaporation of structured protoplanetary disks
The dust in planet-forming disks evolve rapidly through growth and radial
drift, and external photoevaporation also contributes to this evolution in
massive star-forming regions. We test whether the presence of substructures can
explain the survival of the dust component and observed millimeter continuum
emission in protoplanetary disks located within massive star-forming regions.
We also characterize the dust content removed by the photoevaporative winds.
For this, we performed hydrodynamical simulations of protoplanetary disks
subject to irradiation fields of , , and ,
with different dust trap locations. We used the FRIED grid to derive the mass
loss rate for each irradiation field and disk properties, and then measure the
evolution of the dust mass over time. For each simulation we estimate continuum
emission at along with the radii encompassing
of the continuum flux, and characterize the dust size distribution
entrained in the photoevaporative winds, along with the resulting
far-ultraviolet (FUV) cross section. Our simulations show that the presence of
dust traps can extend the lifetime of the dust component of the disk to a few
millionyears if the FUV irradiation is , but only if
the dust traps are located inside the photoevaporative truncation radius. The
dust component of a disk quickly disperse if the FUV irradiation is strong
() or if the substructures are located outside the photoevaporation
radius. We do find however, that the dust grains entrained with the
photoevaporative winds may result in an absorption FUV cross section of at early times of evolution (0.1 Myr),
which is enough to trigger a self-shielding effect that reduces the total mass
loss rate, and slow down the disk dispersal in a negative feedback loop
process.Comment: Accepted for publication in A&
Los restos de Sus scrofa (Artiodactyla, Mammalia) del yacimiento Pleistoceno de Pinilla del Valle (Madrid, España)
A morphologic and biometric study has been carried out on the fossil remains of Suidae derived from the first phase of excavation (1980-1989) at the late Pleistocene paleontological site of Cueva del Camino near Pinilla del Valle, north of Madrid. The material consists in 47 remains belonging to a minimum of 6 individuals. The results allow identifying the presence of the wild boar Sus scrofa, whose anatomical characteristics are compared with material from various European Pleistocene sites as well as present-day specimens. From the material obtained is this first phase of excavation stands out several cranial remains, because they are very scarce in coeval European sites, and are not recorded so far in other Spanish sites. The record of Sus scrofa agrees with the palaeoecological and palaeoenvironmental inferences displayed by previous studies from the whole faunal assemblage of the Cueva del Camino site.

Computing Matrix Trigonometric Functions with GPUs through Matlab
[EN] This paper presents an implementation of one of the most up-to-day algorithms proposed to compute the matrix trigonometric functions sine and cosine. The method used is based on Taylor series approximations which intensively uses matrix multiplications. To accelerate matrix products, our application can use from one to four NVIDIA GPUs by using the NVIDIA cublas and cublasXt libraries. The application, implemented in C++, can be used from the Matlab command line thanks to the mex files provided. We experimentally assess our implementation in modern and very high-performance NVIDIA GPUs.This work has been supported by Spanish Ministerio de Economia y Competitividad and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Grants TIN2014-59294-P and TEC2015-67387-C4-1-RAlonso-Jordá, P.; Peinado Pinilla, J.; Ibáñez González, JJ.; Sastre, J.; Defez Candel, E.
