Recovery of scientific data using Intelligent Distributed Data Warehouse

    No full text
A Retrieval System requires several components that define its functionality and behavior. In the case of a meta-search engine for the retrieval of scientific data, a schema that defines the way to store such data is considered a necessary element for its evolution. Unified profiles have been developed for the data storage of the entities involved in the scientific data management, generated from the fact of publishing a scientific paper. Such profiles are considered the beginning of the generation of new components for the meta-search engine that, using the proprietary information, can deliver information relevant for the user of the tool. To this end, the use of an intelligent distributed data warehouse is proposed.Viloria, Amelec-52922525-9094-40f2-acd3-5424e90bb258-0Neira Rodado, Dionicio-0000-0003-0837-7083-0Pineda Lezama, Omar Bonerge-365a03a0-145e-4df5-9abe-f5ccf9d96612-

On the Phonological Conditioning of Clitic Placement in Zapotec

    No full text
Clitic placement in San Dionicio Ocotepec Zapotec is determined by a combination of syntactic and phonological factors. The most important of these is alignment with the edge of a phonological phrase. In an optimality-theoretic account, it is possible to rank some phonological alignment constraints above syntactic alignment constraints in a way that correctly accounts for the data. Alternatives which seek to derive clitic placement through syntactic movement operations face insuperable problems with the range of positions in which these clitics appear

Multicriteria strategic approach for the selection of concrete suppliers in a construction company in Colombia

    No full text
Within companies of the construction sector, the evaluation and selection of concrete suppliers, is considered a fundamental topic for the adequate construction of buildings, due to the impact it has, not only in the stability of the building but also in the productivity and the profitability. For an adequate selection, decision-makers must consider a series of criteria of different kind. However, as in different fields, due to the numerous criteria and alternatives that should be considered in the construction industry, the choice of an appropriate multicriteria decision-making approach has become a critical step in the selection of suppliers. Therefore, the objective of this research is to define the most adequate supplier of suitable concrete through the integration of powerful multicriteria decision-making methods. For this purpose, a fuzzy analytical hierarchy process (FAHP) is initially applied to define initial factor weights under uncertainty, followed, using the decision-making test and the evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) to evaluate the interrelationships between elements of the hierarchy. Then, after combining FAHP and DEMATEL to calculate the final contributions of the factors including the interdependence, finally TOPSIS technique is used for the order of preference for the similarity with the ideal solution to evaluate and determine the best supplier.Restrepo, Jorge E.Neira Rodado, Dionicio-will be generated-orcid-0000-0003-0837-7083-600amelec, viloria-will be generated-orcid-0000-0003-2673-6350-

Determination of the most relevant features to improve the performance of RF classifier in human activity recognition

    No full text
The impact that neurodegenerative diseases have in our society, have made human activity recognition (HAR) arise as a relevant field of study. The quality of life of people with such conditions, can be significantly improved with the outcomes of the projects within this area. The application of machine learning techniques on data from low level sensors such as accelerometers is the base of HAR. To improve the performance of these classifiers, it is necessary to carry out an adequate training process. To improve the training process, an analysis of the different features used in literature to tackle these problems was performed on datasets constructed with students performing 18 different activities of daily living. The outcome of the process shows that an adequate selection of features improves the performance of Random Forest from 94.6% to 97.2%. It was also found that 78 features explain 80% of the variability.Jiménez-Gómez, GeovannaNavarro-Escorcia, DanielaNeira Rodado, Dionicio-will be generated-orcid-0000-0003-0837-7083-600Cleland, Ian-will be generated-orcid-0000-0003-2368-7354-60

Weather variability control in three Colombian airports

    No full text
The aeronautic sector has been economically affected by the closure of its operations with the appearance of the Covid-19. For reducing the impact of weather variables at airport operations, we present a predictive model for better planning. Better planning reduces operative costs and increase the level of client satisfaction. This paper uses hourly observation from 2011 to 2018 at three Colombian airports: The Dorado airport in Bogota, the Olaya Herrera airport in Medellin, and the Matecana airport in Pereira. We build prediction models with deep learning and machine learning methods. These models aim to forecast horizontal and vertical visibility variables with minimum errors. The Random Forest decision tree model performs better predicting theses variables in one, six, and twenty-four hours. This model has better results with the horizontal variable visibility forecasting for the three airports giving errors among 4% and 8%. This algorithm gave a flexible solution, and any airport can implement it.Vargas-Daza, KarenMisat, Giovanny-will be generated-orcid-0000-0002-7345-157X-600Neira Rodado, Dionicio-will be generated-orcid-0000-0003-0837-7083-60

Design of a decision support system for multiobjective activity planning and programming using global bacteria optimization

    No full text
The success of any project lies in a great manner on keeping costs in the estimated values, as well as meeting customer required due date. Therefore, there is a current need of developing an information system that facilitates the creation and managing of projects and their processes, including costing schemes, as well as monitoring an optimizing project’s makespan. In order to address this situation a user-friendly information system (IS) was developed. This IS includes an optimization module that reduces the project’s execution time, thus, minimizing costs and ultimately providing the manager with the right tools for the correct development of the project. Therefore, a better planning of activities in a reduced time is accomplished. In this way, the project manager is equipped with a decision support system (DSS) that allows a better decision making and, thanks to this performance optimization, a cost-effective solution can be delivered to the company. The optimization module is the main innovative component in this IS, considering that addresses the problem as a multiobjective one, considering at the same time makespan and cost. This module is based on global bacteria optimization (GBO). This becomes the most relevant improvement when compared to other ISs in the market.Jimenez Barros, Miguel Angel-will be generated-orcid-0000-0002-8038-7297-600Ramirez Rios, Diana GinethArdila Hernandez, Carlos JulioCastro, Lauren-will be generated-orcid-0000-0001-5201-5659-600Neira Rodado, Dionicio-will be generated-orcid-0000-0003-0837-7083-60
