Rapid investigation expiry drug green corrosion inhibitor on mild steel in NaCl medium
The unused expired clinical drugs are a major environmental hazardous pollutant due to the pharmaceutically active organic compounds present in it. Until recently, a quantum of unused drugs is being disposed through sewers, drainage, sediment are a threat to the public health. Several researchers have already reported the potential use of expired drugs as corrosion inhibitors in both acidic and alkaline medium. In this paper, we have reported three different drug molecules which have crossed the expiry date but not beyond six months. The drugs considered are rabeprazolesodium, domperidone and benfotiamine. Mild steel (MS) specimens were immersed 5 days with and without drug molecule in 3.5 wt% medium film formed on MS surface. These films were then analysed for crystallinity, surface morphology, iron complex, DFT and functional groups by XRD, SEM, and 3D profilometer, FTIR, UV and EPR. The experimental and theoretical results are good agreement with each other. No Full Tex
Chronicling the Self: A Feminist Approach to Mrinal Pande's Daughter's Daughter
Autobiography writing is a means for women writers to explore their inner-most recesses of their selves. Mrinal Pande's Daughter's Daughter is a rare type of the portrayal of self-wherein the author creates a fictional self to describe her survival story of being a daughter's daughter. In the autobiography the author maintains a distance with her own self, speaking through a girl of the age span f two to ten. In the story of her 'self', Mrinal Pande, introspects, observes, comments and narrates her past through her mouthpiece, Tinu. The present paper focuses in detail the pain of being a girl child in a patriarchal society and the author's decision not to be a victim of patriarchal domination.

Development of highly hard and corrosion resistant A286 stainless steel through plasma nitrocarburizing process
A286 (AISI 660), an austenitic precipitation hardening stainless steel has good strength and corrosion resistance, but its low hardness restricts their use in applications involving abrasive wear. In order to improve the hardness without loss of corrosion resistance properties of A286 stainless steel, plasma nitrocarburizing process was carried out at temperatures ranging from 350 degrees C to 500 degrees C for 4 and 8 h. The gas mixture composition employed during the process was 78% nitrogen, 20% hydrogen and 2% acetylene gas. Plasma was generated using a pulse DC power supply having a frequency of 30 kHz. After plasma nitrocarburizing, a dual layer was formed consisting of nitrogen and carbon in the top layer followed by carbon in the bottom layer. Compared with the untreated A286 stainless steel specimens, the microhardness values measured from the plasma nitrocarburized specimens treated at 400 and 450 degrees C increased by a factor of two and three respectively. The electrochemical corrosion behavior of the plasma nitrocarburized A286 specimens has been studied in 3.5 wt.% NaCl solution. The results show that specimens treated at 400 degrees C for 4 h has better pitting corrosion resistance and higher surface hardness compared with that of the untreated A286 stainless steel. This is mainly attributed to the presence of carbon and nitrogen in the modified layer existing as a solid solution. (C) 2015 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved
Dessiné et gravé… Francuskie drzeworyty w polskich tygodnikach ilustrowanych XIX w. na przykładzie tygodnika „Wędrowiec” (część I)
The article presents biographies and analyses of artistic works of 22 French woodcutters and illustrators whose woodcuts were published by the weekly magazine “Wędrowiec” in Warsaw in the middle of the 19th century. In seven cases (Emile Bayard, Henry Blanchard, Adolph Gusman, Henry Hildibrand, Jules Huyot, Adolph-Fracois Pannemaker, and Edouard Riou), full biographies are presented. The remaining ones (Antoine V. Bertrand, Hercule L. Catenacci, Hubert Clerget, Alexandre de Bar, A. Doms, Gustave Doré, Felix-Jean Gauchard, Louis-Alphonse Gerard, Richard Illner, Charles Laplant, Théodore F. Lix, Eugene L. Meunier, Alphonse-Marie de Neuville, Alfred Sargent, and Isidore J. Taylor) are presented in a shortened form due to space constraints. To the best of the author's knowledge, this is the first occurrence of biographies of these artists in Polish literature.W artykule przedstawiono rezultaty badań sylwetek oraz twórczości artystycznej 22 artystów francuskich, których drzeworyty w drugiej połowie XIX w. zamieszczał warszawski tygodnik „Wędrowiec”. Podano, dotychczas w polskim piśmiennictwie nieopracowane, biogramy 7 wybranych artystów: Emile’a Bayarda, Henriego Blancharda, Adolphe’a Gusmana, Henriego Hildibranda, Julesa Huyota, Adolphe’a-Fracoisa Pannemakera oraz Edouarda Riou. W aneksie zebrano dane dotyczące biografii, dorobku artystycznego, liczby i tematyki ilustracji wymienionych wyżej oraz pozostałych 15 drzeworytników i rysowników: Antoine’a V. Bertranda, Hercule’a L. Catenacciego, Huberta Clergeta, Alexandre’a de Bara, A. Mechanical and corrosion behavior of friction stir processed aluminum matrix surface composites
Electrochemical Behavior of Aluminum-Molybdenum Surface Composites Developed by Friction Stir Processing
Aluminum alloys find application in aerospace, automobile, and structural sectors. However, these alloys are susceptible to corrosion attack in chloride environments. Introducing a second species on the surface by surface composite fabrication can be a way to increase the corrosion resistance of the aluminum alloys. Here, we present corrosion studies on aluminum matrix surface composites fabricated using friction stir processing. The reinforcement of Mo particles is considered with varying percentage and distribution in the surface composite. The particle content and distribution are analyzed using SEM–EDS and optical image analysis. Based on the potentiodynamic polarization analysis, the surface composites exhibit improved corrosion resistance with higher corrosion potential and lower corrosion rate. Increase in corrosion resistance is observed for higher Mo content with homogenous distribution. While the base alloy exhibit mixed corrosion behavior, the surface composites show charge-transfer controlled corrosion behavior in the Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy. Reduced pitting in the Mo-rich areas is confirmed by microscopic analysis of the corroded material
Study of plasma nitriding and nitrocarburizing for higher corrosion resistance and hardness of 2205 duplex stainless steel
2205 duplex stainless steel despite possessing good corrosion resistance suffers from low hardness. With a view to improve hardness and corrosion resistance, plasma nitriding and nitrocarburizing processes were performed at 350, 400, 450 and 500 degrees C for 4h. Specimens treated at 400 degrees C by plasma nitrocarburizing exhibits the highest corrosion resistant with a significant raise in surface hardness. At higher temperatures, specimens treated by these processes show poor corrosion resistance. This study highlights the difference in plasma nitriding behavior of the ferrite and austenite phases and not so different behavior of these phases when subjected to plasma nitrocarburizing.
