Przedstawiono zasady jego działania, konfiguracji oraz ocenę wydajności tego tunelowania w odniesieniu do innych alternatywnych metod integracji sieci IPv4 i IPv6. Przebadano dwa warianty wzajemnego ułożenia sieci IPv4 i IPv6. W pierwszym przypadku "wyspy IPv6" komunikowały się przez środowisko IPv4, a w drugim "wyspy IPv4" komunikowały się przez środowisko IPv6.This paper considers GRE (Generic Routing Encapsulation) tunneling used as one of the methods of IPv4 and IPv6 networks integration. GRE tunnel operating rules, GRE tunnel configuration methods and GRE tunneling performance estimation in comparison to other IPv4 and IPv6 networks integration methods are described. Two variants of network IPv4 and IPv6 localizations were get into consideration. In the fist case, the "IPv6 islands" was connected by IPv4 environment, and in other case the "IPv4 islands" was connected by IPv6 environment

    The Limitations of the GRE in Predicting Success in Biomedical Graduate School.

    Historically, admissions committees for biomedical Ph.D. programs have heavily weighed GRE scores when considering applications for admission. The predictive validity of GRE scores on graduate student success is unclear, and there have been no recent investigations specifically on the relationship between general GRE scores and graduate student success in biomedical research. Data from Vanderbilt University Medical School's biomedical umbrella program were used to test to what extent GRE scores can predict outcomes in graduate school training when controlling for other admissions information. Overall, the GRE did not prove useful in predicating who will graduate with a Ph.D., pass the qualifying exam, have a shorter time to defense, deliver more conference presentations, publish more first author papers, or obtain an individual grant or fellowship. GRE scores were found to be moderate predictors of first semester grades, and weak to moderate predictors of graduate GPA and some elements of a faculty evaluation. These findings suggest admissions committees of biomedical doctoral programs should consider minimizing their reliance on GRE scores to predict the important measures of progress in the program and student productivity

    An investigation of the stress-strain behaviour of a GRE cylindrical structure used for a drilling-with-casing application and its influence on torsional vibrations

    For the geothermal wells of the Delft Aardwarmte Project it has been chosen to drill with glass-reinforced epoxy (GRE) composite casing in a drilling-with-casing setup. This MSc thesis report describes the results of experimental work to assess the stress-strain behaviour of GRE casing, in particular under axial, torsional and combined axial-torsional loading. These properties have subsequently been used to assess the effects of using GRE casing on standard drilling properties such as the stretch and twist of the drilling tubulars, and the effect on torsional vibrations. The following conclusions can be drawn: 1. For axial loads (in tension) up to 33% of the expected maximum drilling loads: a. No evidence was found of non-linear behavior. b. The measured elasticity modulus is 1.91*1010 N/m², which corresponds closely to the manufacturer’s data. c. The maximum expected elongation of a GRE casing string of 3300 m used for drilling-with-casing is 1.66 m, which is 0.06 m more than that of a steel drill pipe under similar drilling conditions.. 2. For torsional loads up to 98 % of the expected maximum drilling loads: a. The stress-strain behaviour in the tangential direction remains linear. b. The shear modulus measured is deemed incorrect due to the mechanical properties of the test bench. The shear modulus as reported by the manufacturer is 6.78*109N/m2. c. The maximum expected twist in a GRE casing string of 3300 m used for drilling-with-casing is 9.25 turns which is 6.3 turns more than that of a steel drill pipe under similar drilling conditions. d. The natural frequency in torsional vibration of a GRE casing is much lower than that of a steel casing in a comparable drilling setup due to its much lower torsional stiffness. However the large diameter of casing, as compared to conventional drill pipe, results in an increase in torsional stiffness. The combined effect is an increased natural frequency of GRE casing compared to steel drill pipe. e. As a result, the critical rotary speed, i.e the rotary speed below which one can expect the occurrence of stick-slip torsional vibrations, is lower for GRE casing than for steel drilling pipe under similar drilling conditions, i.e. the effect is beneficial. 3. Under increasing axial tension the torsional stress-strain behaviour displays an increasing hysteresis. a. The torsional dampening, expressed as energy loss per loading/unloading cycle ranges from xx% to xx%. This is much higher than the typical internal torsional damping in steel drill pipe. b. The typical external torsional dampening caused by fluid drag and borehole friction while drilling is in the order of 50%. The effect of internal damping caused by hysteresis during torsional loading of GRE casing is therefore noticeable, and results in a further beneficial decrease in the critical rotary speed for stick-slip torsional vibrations.Section Petroleum EngineeringCivil Engineering and Geoscience

    The association between GRE scores and academic success in graduate programs is currently of national interest. GRE scores are often assumed to be predictive of student success in graduate school. However, we found no such association in admission data from Vanderbilt’s Initiative for Maximizing Student Diversity (IMSD), which recruited historically underrepresented students for graduate study in the biomedical sciences at Vanderbilt University spanning a wide range of GRE scores. This study avoids the typical biases of most GRE investigations of performance where primarily high-achievers on the GRE were admitted. GRE scores, while collected at admission, were not used or consulted for admission decisions and comprise the full range of percentiles, from 1% to 91%. We report on the 32 students recruited to the Vanderbilt IMSD from 2007–2011, of which 28 completed the PhD to date. While the data set is not large, the predictive trends between GRE and long-term graduate outcomes (publications, first author publications, time to degree, predoctoral fellowship awards, and faculty evaluations) are remarkably null and there is sufficient precision to rule out even mild relationships between GRE and these outcomes. Career outcomes are encouraging; many students are in postdocs, and the rest are in regular stage-appropriate career environments for such a cohort, including tenure track faculty, biotech and entrepreneurship careers.</div

    Rise to the Challenge or Not Give a Damn: Differential Performance in High vs. Low Stakes Tests

    This paper studies how different demographic groups respond to incentives by comparing performance in the GRE examination in "high" and "low" stakes situations. The high stakes situation is the real GRE examination and the low stakes situation is a voluntary experimental section of the GRE that examinees were invited to take immediately after they finished the real GRE exam. We show that males exhibit a larger difference in performance between the high and low stakes examinations than females, and that Whites exhibit a larger difference in performance between the high and low stakes examinations relative to Asians, Blacks, and Hispanics. We find that the larger differential performance between high and low stakes tests among men and whites can be partially explained by the lower level of effort invested by these groups in the low stake test.gender, competition, incentives, GRE, high stakes, low stakes, test score gap
