    San Felipe los Alzati: Michoacán

    No full text

In the present text the author reproduces twenty-seven unpublished documents dated between 1701 and 1774. These papers prove that during the reign of Felipe V the Jesuit Royal Confessionary bore the final responsibility for transferring prelates or filling vacant bishoprics.

Acupuncture and urban amalgams into the patrimonial contexts in Iza Boyacá

    No full text
In this research work different urban intervention strategies are presented under patrimonial contexts, where the concept of "Acupuncture" applied to urban architectural design is used as a basis. In accordance with the guidelines of this concept, we seek to generate modifications in areas of acupressure that revitalize and generate new social interactionsin the Municipality of Iza, Boyacá. In order to improve the socio-economic dynamics of the municipality, it is necessary to form urban amalgams that generate a complementary mixture of the different land uses and thus stop the process of obsolescence of the use of the heritage and allow to improve the quality of life of the trees and tourists; through the Urban Acupuncture, it is intended to formulate a spatial organization with a patrimonial axis, which allows to safeguard urban environments in high risk conditions, and thus to respond to the needs of the municipality's PEMP (Special Management and Protection Plan). For the purposes of the research, urban mobility problems are considered, in addition to social and economic problems; To respond, a series of urban micro-interventions were proposed that allow generating a series of pedestrian circuits that generate collective urban events and help solve the lack of architectural flows in patrimonial contexts within the municipality of Iza, Boyacá

Influence of the On-time on the Ozone Production in Pulsed Dielectric Barrier Discharges

    No full text
Understanding the production mechanisms of ozone and other reactive species in atmospheric pressure dielectric barrier discharges (DBDs) has become increasingly important for the optimization and commercial success of these plasma devices in emerging applications, such as plasma medicine, plasma agriculture, and plasma catalysis. In many of these applications, input power modulation is exploited as a means to maintain a low gas temperature. Although the chemical pathways leading to ozone production/destruction and their strong temperature dependence are relatively well understood, the effect of the on-time duration on the performance of these modulated DBDs remains largely unexplored. In this study, we use electrical and optical diagnostics, as well as computational methods, to assess the performance of a modulated DBD device. The well-established Lissajous method for measuring the power delivered to the discharge is not suitable for modulated DBDs because the transients generated at the beginning of each pulse become increasingly important in short on-time modulated plasmas. It is shown that for the same input power and modulation duty-cycle, shorter on-time pulses result in significantly enhanced ozone production, despite their operation at slightly higher temperatures. The key underpinning mechanism that causes this counter-intuitive observation is the more efficient net generation rate of ozone during the plasma on-time due to the lower accumulation of NO2 in the discharge volume

A.Dear Sir:-I see by late papers that you have returned from your trip to South Africa. i am pleased to know that you have returned safe, sincerely hope that you have had a pleasant trip and that the people there have not treated you worse than what you were treated here.we received the books that you ordered to be sent and thank you very much, I read them with interest and must say that after seeing and conversing with you, even if we had not known the author, we could have formed a good idea of who the author was. Here we are very much the same as you left us plodding along trying to keep our own pot a boiling as well as providing for those who are depending on our efforts. We have had a beautiful Summer and our harvest on the farms has yeal-ded satisfactory, the lumber business also has kept firm, in fact the country has produced so much that our rail road has not been able to move the products as fast as we could wish. Now in the beginning of winter, we are moving stuff more freely and hope soon again to get up to the normal. We often speak of you and remember the yarns you told us and often retail them in post to our friends. Your visit to us remains a bright spot in our memory. We cannot hope to have it repeated. Possibly some of us may go to San Francisco at the time of the exposition and if I be among that number, will surely hunt you up and enjoy your hospitality for a day or two.05207https://scholarlycommons.pacific.edu/jmcl/33300/thumbnail.jp

Inclusive growth: Why is it Important for Developing Asia?

    No full text
Although Asian countries attain relatively high growth rates of GDP, many citizens do not seem to benefit from it. To remedy this problem, multilateral development institutions have developed the concept of inclusive growth, defined as growth that allows all members of a society to participate in and contribute to the growth process on an equal basis, regardless of their individual circumstances. The most direct way to achieve inclusive growth in Asia is to bring the objective of full employment of the labor force (i.e., zero involuntary unemployment) to the top of the policy agenda. Specific policies to achieve it are: (i) Redress the neglect of agriculture; (ii) Undertake public investment in basic infrastructure; (iii) Use of industrial policy to accelerate industrialization and structural transformation in general; (iv) Direct fiscal and monetary policies to the achievement of full employment; and (v) Devise Job Guarantee Programs (JGP) to ensure full employment with price stability
