Staging Power: Directing "Princess Ivona" by Witold Gombrowicz
For my thesis project I chose and was approved to direct Princess Ivona in the University of California-Santa Cruz Second Stage. Published in 1938 and written by Polish novelist and playwright Witold Gombrowicz, Princess Ivona tells the story of how a society, hastily built upon fear-centric oppression, violently reacts when its crooked structure of power is put into question. In this thesis I will recount the production process as it unfolded while examining how power circulates in rehearsal between a director and their collaborators, power as it is represented in the script, and finally how we presented it on stage
European urban regeneration through intelligent applications
With the advent of new technologies, cultural heritage can be experienced within a more complex tourist offer based on highly personalized products, tailored to the needs of visitors through feedback, geo-localization, advanced services and multifunctional information. and in real time. Among the types of tourism in constant and rapid growth there is that linked to cultural heritage, with the inevitable repercussions on local economies, destinations and local communities. Cultural tourism attracts an increasing number of tourists / travelers with changing needs; no longer and not only linked to the search for fun but, also, to those of new experiences aimed at satisfying an intellectual, personal, and emotionally satisfying involvement. The importance of innovation, also seen as a new support for the tourist development of the territories, is translated through ICT that facilitate the use of the territory, but also as a system of informal networks between the population and the territories. The transformative power of intelligent technologies not only in terms of economic potential but also of social and experiential dimensions is now widely recognized. From this perspective, the new initiative of the European Commission "EUROPEAN CAPITAL OF SMART TOURISM - ECoST" should be read, which through the holding of a competition aims to identify the European Capital of Intelligent Tourism. In addition to the deepening of the most recent theoretical conceptualizations, the study will be based on the deepening of the ECoST Project and on the examination of the potential of some Italian cities

The geography of migrations between causes, definitions and permanent identities. The case of Apulian Arbëria
The term "immigration" is endowed with a very meaningful semantic charge: it not only expresses a physical shift and a change of a geographical scenario, but it is a socioeconomic phenomenon as well as a transfer of cultural reference models with a plurality of consequences for the emigrant subject and for the host communities. The causes of continuous displacements of populations from their place of origin to other destinations are the most varied, political, religious, and economic, and sometimes they are linked together. The case study considered is the Italian Arberia; a linguistic-cultural island present, today, only in some areas of central-southern Italy but with a very ancient history of difficult social integration. The purpose of the investigation is to understand the spread of the phenomenon and outline future prospects, through the examination of the most significant literature, historical documents and also a fieldwork through interviews with some representatives of the Apulian arbëreshë communities
Nighttime City Mobility. Contributions from a Literary Urban Space
The proposal aims to identify the interplay between different mobile forces that
shape and nourish a sense of urban place that must be discovered in order to become aware
of one’s own subjective identity to reconcile the “self” with the urban dimension. It aims
also to contribute to the ongoing critical debate on e-motions linked to an urban nighttime
atmosphere in literature. Given the introspective potentialities of literature and the inspiring
and revealing nature of the night, the main source of research is the novel Ne qui ne altrove.
Una notte a Bari (Neither here nor elsewhere. One Night in Bari) (2009), written by Gianrico
Carofiglio. It is set in the city of Bari (Italy). In order to present its urban literary cartography,
we opt for the Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) as a way to access
the subjective world. The combination of academic reading and literary interpretation results
in urban mental maps produced according to the Lynchian categories. The mobile narrative
practices and techniques (shifting pace, motions within the city, sliding motion between
past and present, unceasing critical movement from fictional to non-fictional content,
etc.) enhance the sensory and emotional experience. The proposal advances a relational
production of the sense of place, while contributing to the ongoing critical debate on meanings
and feelings linked to an urban nighttime atmosphere in literary terms
