Second-order optimality conditions for problems with data
AbstractIn this paper we obtain second-order optimality conditions of Karush–Kuhn–Tucker type and Fritz John one for a problem with inequality constraints and a set constraint in nonsmooth settings using second-order directional derivatives. In the necessary conditions we suppose that the objective function and the active constraints are continuously differentiable, but their gradients are not necessarily locally Lipschitz. In the sufficient conditions for a global minimum x¯ we assume that the objective function is differentiable at x¯ and second-order pseudoconvex at x¯, a notion introduced by the authors [I. Ginchev, V.I. Ivanov, Higher-order pseudoconvex functions, in: I.V. Konnov, D.T. Luc, A.M. Rubinov (Eds.), Generalized Convexity and Related Topics, in: Lecture Notes in Econom. and Math. Systems, vol. 583, Springer, 2007, pp. 247–264], the constraints are both differentiable and quasiconvex at x¯. In the sufficient conditions for an isolated local minimum of order two we suppose that the problem belongs to the class C1,1. We show that they do not hold for C1 problems, which are not C1,1 ones. At last a new notion parabolic local minimum is defined and it is applied to extend the sufficient conditions for an isolated local minimum from problems with C1,1 data to problems with C1 one
Memoir Prose of Vsevolod Ivanov
The author of the article explores Vsevolod Ivanov’s memoir prose, both published texts and previously unknown materials from the family archive, regarding them in the context of a discussion about the genre nature of ego documents. The research materials also include the idea of the memoirs of 1942, conceived by Ivanov as a continuation of the autobiographical novel “The Adventures of the Fakir.” Ivanov’s reflections on the titles of the new edition of memoirs and chapters in 1956 show the peculiarities of its compositional structure: the center of each chapter (“bush” — term by K.A. Fedin) is a certain book, and historical events, facts of the literary process, portraits of contemporaries are grouped around the history of its creation. The article discusses in detail some of these “bushes” of the 1920s. On the basis of archival materials and a comparison of two published versions of “The History of My Books” the study shows why the portraits of the fraternity of “Serapion Brothers” and A.K. Voronsky drew negative critical responses. An analysis of the naively simple-minded narration manner allows us to conclude that the form of memoirs was deliberately chosen by Ivanov for the sake of publishing important facts of the literary history
Data on the number and frequency of scientific literature citations for established medulloblastoma cell lines
This article collates information about the number of scientific articles mentioning each of the established medulloblastoma cell lines, derived through a systematic search of Web of Science, Scopus and Google Scholar in 2016. The data for each cell line have been presented as raw number of citations, percentage share of the total citations for each search engine and as an average percentage between the three search engines. In order to correct for the time since each cell line has been in use, the raw citation data have also been divided by the number of years since the derivation of each cell line. This is a supporting article for a review of in vitro models of medulloblastoma published in “in vitro models of medulloblastoma: choosing the right tool for the job” (D.P. Ivanov, D.A. Walker, B. Coyle, A.M. Grabowska, 2016) [1]
“The Verse about the Holy Mountain”by Vyacheslav Ivanov: A Close Reading. First Essay
In the course of his literary career, Vyacheslav Ivanov repeatedly turned to the genre of spiritual verse (dukhovnyi stikh). This genre implies a specific poetic form, certain stylistic properties, performance, and circulation. Among Ivanov’s works, there are both: texts that reproduce traditional spiritual verse with some modifications and original works stylized as sacred poems. “The Verse about the Holy Mountain” (1900) belongs to the second group. Though the text is stylized as spiritual verse, both on the level of its poetics and content, it does not imitate any particular folkloric text. Semantic structure of the “Verse” is organized by two semantic fields. The first one is marked by words with the roots свет- “light” and свят- “saint.” In “The Verse about the Holy Mountain,” “light” and “holiness” are interrelated not only on the verbal level but also on religious and symbolic levels of the poem. Ivanov seemed to have intended his text to be perceived not only aurally but also as a unique verbal icon by the reader’s inner vision. The second group of words refers to a semantic field marked by the verbs видеть “to see” and ведать “to know.” Ivanov would repeatedly return to the images from “The Verse about the Holy Mountain” in the course of his later life. We encounter references to the poem’s plot in his articles “Living Tradition” (1915) and “The Face and Masks of Russia” (1917) as well as in his works The Russian Idea (1930) and Dostoevsky: Tragedy — Legend — Mysticism (1932) published in German. Certain images related to “The Verse about the Holy Mountain” may be found among the drafts of “The Tale about Tsarevich Svetomir,” a text Ivanov was working on from 1928 through 1949
“Seven Against Thebes” in Mythopoetics of Vyach. Ivanov
The article offers an interpretation of Vyach. Ivanov’s dithyramb “Tsari” from his book “Kormchie zvezdy,” namely its final part, written in verset. The seven kings are celebrating a feast when the priest Melamp comes; he transforms the liquids in the kings’ cups into wine, turns himself into Dionysus, and brings seven other kings, who kill their predecessors and put on their masks. The names of the kings originate from Aeschylus’ tragedy “Seven Against Thebes,” which was later partially translated by Ivanov. Ares has a special place in this tragedy, both as the personification of war and as the patron of the Thebans: from the teeth of his sacred dragon, killed by Cadmus, grew the progenitors of the Theban clans. Ivanov suggests that Ares was a hypostasis of Dionysus, and his reasoning is very similar to the conclusions of the German philologist W.-A. Voigt. However, his supposition about the chthonic and Dionysiac nature of some of the characters participating in the campaign against Thebes stems from the opinion of other researchers. The plot of the mystery is inspired by J.G. Frazer’s “The Golden Bough” and by the rite of Lake Nemi, but in Ivanov’s text, the kings and their opponents are not priests of Jupiter but masks of the many-faced Dionysus, who is both priest and victim. Thus, the poet integrates the myth from the Theban cycle into his mythopoetics

Gauge Fields and Strings
Based on his own work, the author synthesizes the most promising approaches and ideals in field theory today. He presents such subjects as statistical mechanics, quantum field theory and their interrelation, continuous global symmetry, non-Abelian gauge fields, instantons and the quantam theory of loops, and quantum strings and random surfaces. This book is aimed at postgraduate students studying field theory and statistical mechanics, and for research workers in continuous global theory
