No full textNei prossimi anni il centro sportivo di Tenero diventerà un luogo chiaramente definito ed un elemento rilevante del paesaggio locale. I lungi percorsi alberati, che spingono alla osservazione del paesaggio distante, suddividono e misurano le ampie superfici dedicate allo sport. Proponiamo di rafforzare e di completare la geometria delle stanze alberate con una sequenza di volumi elementari che definiscono il confine materiale e percettivo di questo paesaggio piatto, racchiuso tra il lago e le montagne. Coerentemente i nuovi elementi architettonici si limitano a marcare il limite e definire l'orizzonte che identifica il parco sportivo. Le componenti sceniche del paesaggio ne risultano esaltate. Il complesso per il nuoto - il primo edificio ad essere realizzato - definisce il limite est, costruendo un fondale scenico per le attività open-air. L'edificio è concepito per creare una forte relazione al paesaggio circostante sia nell'utilizzo estivo che invernale. D'estate, quando il tetto si apre, le piscine diventano "stanze" a cielo aperto ed offrono la vista delle montagne. La piscine mantengono con i prati immediatamente vicini una stretta relazione, mediata dalle ampie aperture delle finestre. In inverno il tetto di policarbonato diviene una lanterna traslucida in grado di fornire un ottimo isolamento termico mantenendo un ambiente interno luminoso.In the near future the Tenero sport park will become a clearly recognisable place and a relevant component of local landscape.
Straight tree lined paths inviting the contemplation of the distant landscape, subdivide and measure the large surface devoted to sport activities.
We propose to reinforce and accomplish the geometry of the tree-lined “rooms”, through a sequence of elementary volumes defining the material and perceptive edges of the flat landscape, enclosed between the mountains and the lake.
As a consequence, the new architectural elements will simply mark the limit and define the horizon that identifies the sport park. As a result the scenic qualities of open space will stand out.
The swimming complex – the first building to be realised – will define the limit to the east, providing a scenic background for the open-air sport grounds. The building is conceived to be used in a strong relation with the landscape both in summer and in winter. In summer, when the roof opens, the pools become open air “rooms” offering a sight over the mountains. However, the pools will also maintain a strong relation with the surrounding lawns, mediated by the large window openings.
In winter the poly-carbonate roof, becomes a large white translucent lantern, providing a good thermal insulation while maintaining a bright indoor environment

No full textL’area oggetto di studio è un luogo di grande importanza per la vita pubblica di Mesagne, antica cittadina situata lungo la via Appia nella provincia di Brindisi. Attraverso lo strumento del concorso di progettazione, l’amministrazione ha voluto attribuire al progetto di rigenerazione dello spazio pubblico il compito di rendere evidente e concreto il riscatto della città dal recente passato di centro della criminalità organizzata ( Sacra Corona Unita)
Da più di un secolo piazza grande costituisce un nodo irrisolto nel disegno dello spazio pubblico cittadino nonostante sia uno dei luoghi maggiormente utilizzato da abitanti e turisti. Il progetto proposto è costruito a partire da alcuni principi semplici attraverso i quali produrre un rilevante cambiamento. In primo luogo, la trasformazione di uno spazio stradale in spazio pubblico caratterizzato da un senso di accogliente dignità e compostezza. Lo formano due grandi spazi tra loro complementari collegati dalla continuità del suolo pubblico pedonale: Il giardino comunale e la piazza, uno spazio verde ed ombroso e uno spazio minerale, solare e pieno di vita.
Fin dal primo colpo d’occhio lo spazio della piazza rappresenta la legalità ritrovata, immediatamente richiamata dalle eleganti ed imponenti palme dattilifere, veri e propri “alberi della libertà”, monumenti della nuova Mesagne. Il ridisegno della piazza, che mette in connessione alcuni dei monumenti più caratterizzanti della città è anche l'occasione per ripensare le prestazioni dello spazio urbano rispetto ai temi della sostenibilità e della transizione ecologica. Si propone infatti il ridisegno della mobilità, riducendo il numero dei parcheggi presenti e promuovendo sia la mobilità attiva che il trasorto pubblico. Un'attenzione particolare è stata posta nella proposta di pavimentazioni drenanti capaci di convogliare, assorbire ed eventualmene recuperare le acque di dilavamento di parte del centro storico
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Full text linkWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. No full textWe have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
