In December 1986, Kufa Gallery opened in London’s Westbourne Grove. After exhibitions of Old Maps of the Arab and Islamic World (3–30 June 1987), three Europe-based Kurdish artists Walid Mustafa, Tahir Hamid and Karim Azad (15 July–8 August 1987), and an exhibition in memory of the Palestinian cartoonist Naji al Ali shortly after his assassination in London on 29 August 1987 (29 October–4 November 1987), Rose Issa dedicated an exhibition to Contemporary Lebanese Artists (15 January–24 February 1988). This exhibition took place during a period of war in Lebanon and in parallel with preparations for the landmark exhibition that was to take place at the Barbican Centre the following year, Lebanon—The Artist’s View (15 April–4 June 1989). Contemporary Lebanese Artists not only aimed to raise awareness about Lebanon’s artists and the country’s plight, but also to raise funds both for the artists and for the Lebanese Red Cross, which received part of the gallery’s commission. In this roundtable discussion, the main protagonists behind Contemporary Lebanese Artists, gallerist Rose Issa and artist Mohammad El Rawas, discuss the creation and reception of the exhibition

Conducting research on the effect of occasion of revelation of Quranic verses on jurisprudential inferences is an influential research about the occasion of revelation and jurisprudence. The present paper seeks to study the effect of the occasion of revelation on jurisprudential inferences of verses about marriage from Shia and Sunni view. The occasion of revelation can determine the instances of general injunctions mentioned in the Quranic verses. The effects of the occasion of revelation of Quranic verse on jurisprudential inferences include understanding the relation between injunctions mentioned in the verses, explaining the causes, the philosophy of divine decrees, explaining ambiguous terms in a verse, and limiting the meaning of a verse to a particular group or time.   Mohammad Faker Meybodi[1]  Mohammad Jawad Eskandarloo[2] Mohammad Amini Tehrani[3]   [1] Professor of department of sciences of the Holy Quran and Hadith, Al-Mustafa International University, [email protected] [2] Associate professor of higher school of the Holy Quran and Hadith, Imam Khomeini Higher Education Complex, [email protected] [3] Corresponding author, faculty member of Al-Mustafa International University, [email protected]

A letter from the Al-Muthanna Library in Baghdad to His Excellency Brother Najib Al-Khanji addressed concerns regarding the excessive number of trivial books received. The letter specifically requested the write-off of Issa Al-Halabi’s books previously recorded in their account. The library asked to receive a more suitable selection of only 50 to 100 useful books, highlighting that it had already requested 150 copies of world theater novels that had not yet arrived. Furthermore, it mentioned the receipt of 300 unsolicited spiritual renaissance books and noted that Dar Al-Ma’rifa had not delivered any new titles due to unpaid debts. The letter also referenced a price increase for the boxes from 3 to 4 pounds.

Mustafa Saad Al-Khayat, Munad-Ar-Rehman Mohammad, Muhammad Yousuf HayatFaculty of Medicine, St. George’s Hospital Medical School, London, UKWe read with great interest the article by Parashar et al1 regarding learning styles. We would like to offer our reflections as medical students. The author highlighted that kinesthetic and aural forms of learning are preferred by early year medical students; it also concludes that a multimodal approach is best for enhanced learning. We agree that a multifaceted approach should be used, but how it is applied is where the discussion lies.We feel it is important to discuss and highlight a number of salient points pertaining to learning styles. There are studies which show that, despite some effect, multimodal learning does not result in significantly higher grades than other learning styles.2 We believe a cohort study where students experience different modes of learning with subsequent examinations to survey changes from baseline knowledge would be better suited to explored enhanced learning, rather than a cross-sectional study.View the original paper by Parashar and colleague

The study aims to identify the effect of using the smart board on developing achievement for the 10th-grade students in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The two researchers use two different research approaches, namely the descriptive analytical approach used to extrapolate the related literature on the independent variable and the dependent variable, and the experimental approach to measure the independent variable (The smart board). The study sample consists of the tenth elementary grade students randomly selected in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. They are distributed into two groups, the experimental group taught using an educational program based on the use of the smart board and a control group taught in the traditional method. The researchers have designed a 30-question achievement test in the second semester of the year 2018-2019. The results of the study show that there is an effect on the use of smart board among the tenth-grade students in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan due to the excellence of the experimental group over its control group in the achievement test. No full text
Waqf as institution has played a great role in the past. Several examples are cited to show the socio-economic contributions this institution had played in the past especially in the Muslim communities. This institution offered many notable public services that are today financed by the state or the government, such as education, health care, national security, transportation facilities, the basic infrastructure, food, shelter and jobs. Generally, waqf institutions of Muslim countries like Madina, Turkey (during Othman Empire), Algeria (under French occupation), Egypt, Palestine, Jerusalem, Iraq and Tunisia had a remarkable contribution. Meanwhile, this role did not exempt Zanzibar since 1800s. The significant contribution by the waqf in Zanzibar is considerable as well. However, this institution in the Islands has been facing several problems and as well as the problem of funding the waqf and Trust Commission. This paper, therefore, examines the problems of waqf Institutions and proposes some suggestions to how to address them
