Mining a Web citation database for author co-citation analysis
No full textAuthor co-citation analysis (ACA) has been widely used in bibliometrics as an analytical method in analyzing the intellectual structure of science studies. It can be used to identify authors fromthe same or similar research fields. However, such analysis method relies heavily on statistical tools to perform the analysis and requires human interpretation. Web Citation Database is a data warehouse used for storing citation indices of Web publications. In this paper, we propose a mining process to automate the ACA based on the Web Citation Database. The mining process uses agglomerative hierarchical clustering (AHC) as the mining technique for author clustering and multidimensional scaling (MDS) for displaying author cluster maps. Level: Final thesis for a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration Author: Zhing Mo, Yulan Qu Supervisor: Dr. Aihie Osarenkhoe Date: 2010 – May Aim: This dissertation aims to find out the motives behind the introduction of private label in ICA. The purpose is to further integrate the private label as a branding concept. Method: Both quantitative and qualitative methods have been used in this research. The primary data has been collected through face-to-face interviews with ICA managers and an administer questionnaire. Secondary data has been collected from books, articles and the Internet. Limitations: This research was limited by the size of the customer population and the number of stores. In addition the research was performed during the early stages of market penetration by ICA’s private label, and the results of future research might be different. Conclusions: ICA released private label to counter manufacturer power and to be more price competitive. Moreover, it had a positive effect on customers’ loyalty. The introduction of the ICA private label had a great impact on brand image and brand awareness. With regards to loyalty, the ICA private label strategy is on the correct track but still has a gap between the intended objective and actuality. Contribution of the thesis: This research contributes to finding out the advantages for retailers of introducing private label. Another contribution is to help the readers gain an in-depth understanding of private label in a brand concept. Moreover the research also presents some interesting prospects for further research. Full text linkUdang merupakan salah satu komoditas utama dalam industri budidaya perikanan, karena udang memiliki nilai ekonomis tinggi, sehingga membuka peluang bagi kalangan masyarakat untuk membudidayakannya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu: 1) Untuk mengetahui tingkat keuntungan usahatani udang vannamei di Desa Patuhu Kecamatan Randangan Kabupaten Pohuwato. 2) Untuk mengetahui tingkat kelayakan usahatani udang vanamei di Desa Patuhu Kecamatan Randangan Kabupaten Pohuwato. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh petani tambak udang di Desa Patuhu yang berjumlah 43 orang. Sampel berjumlah 43 orang. Data yang digunakan terdiri dari data primer dan data sekunder. Analisis data yang digunakan yaitu analisis kelayakan dan analisis pendapatan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan. 1) Pendapatan petambak udang vannamei di Desa Patuhu dalam satu kali produksi sebesar Rp 15.744.419. 2) Usaha tambak udang vannamei di Desa Patuhu Kecamatan Randangan layak untuk dikembangkan dan dijadikan sebagai usaha dibidang pertanian. Dengan nilai R/C ratio 1,76 > 1. Dan nilai B/C ratio 0,76 > 0.

PubSearch: a web citation-based retrieval system
No full textMany scientific publications are now available on the World Wide Web for researchers to share research findings. However, they tend to be poorly organised, making the search of relevant publications difficult and time-consuming. Most existing search engines are ineffective in searching these publications, as they do not index Web publications that normally appear in PDF (portable document format) or PostScript formats. Proposes a Web citation-based retrieval system, known as PubSearch, for the retrieval of Web publications. PubSearch indexes Web publications based on citation indices and stores them into a Web Citation Database. The Web Citation Database is then mined to support publication retrieval. Apart from supporting the traditional cited reference search, PubSearch also provides document clustering search and author clustering search. Document clustering groups related publications into clusters, while author clustering categorizes authors into different research areas based on author co-citation analysis
Guanxi and the organization of Chinese new year festivals in England
Full text linkThis article explores how Chinese diaspora communities use guanxi, a unique Chinese interpretation of personal relationships, in the organization of Chinese New Year (CNY) festivals in England. A case-study approach that incorporated mixed qualitative methods was used to investigate the interactions and interrelationships between the ethnic Chinese communities involved in the organization of CNY festivals in five English cities. The article argues that Chinese diaspora communities use their guanxi to establish collaboration at CNY festivals. However, the process of organizing CNY festivals has also exposed divisions among Chinese communities. The article proposes that guanxi has important implications for the relationships among Chinese diaspora communities in the context of CNY festivals. Although it facilitates collaboration and promotes solidarity among Chinese communities, it may also intensify competition for power. Diaspora festivals in general are a neglected area of research and this article is the first to study the organization of Chinese New Year festivals in detail
Quantising contribution effort in online communities
No full textWe describe the Joint Effort-Topic (JET) model and the Author Joint Effort-Topic (aJET) model that estimate the effort required for users to contribute on different topics. We propose to learn word-level effort taking into account term preference over time and use it to set the priors of our models. Since there is no gold standard which can be easily built, we evaluate them by measuring their abilities to validate expected behaviours such as correlations between user contributions and the associated effort
A Study of the Development of Agricultural Mechanization in Kunming

In the course of building the urban modern agriculture, the agricultural mechanization of Kunming City is being faced with excellent development opportunity. In this paper, the author scientifically analyzed current development situations of agricultural mechanization in Kunming City and explored existing problems in the course of development. On the basis of analysis, the author put forward recommendations, including increasing scientific research input for agricultural machinery, supporting agricultural machinery enterprises, promoting scientific and technical innovation, taking characteristic industries (such as flowers and vegetables) as pillar industry, speeding up development of modern facility agriculture, and upgrading primary processing of agricultural products. Prior to Foxp(3+) regulatory T-cell induction, interleukin-10-producing B cells expand after Helicobacter pylori infection
No full textRegulatory T (Treg) cells play a critical role in Helicobacter pylori immune evasion and persistent infection. In addition to Treg cells, it is still unknown whether a newly defined B-cell subset, interleukin (IL)-10-producing B cells, is involved. Using a mouse model of H.pylori infection, we investigated the dynamic changes of IL-10-producing B cells and Foxp3(+) Treg cells in gastrointestinal mucosa, spleen and mesenteric lymph nodes following H.pylori infection. We observed that in addition to Foxp3(+) Treg cells, IL-10-producing B cells could also be induced after H.pylori infection and they expanded earlier than Foxp3(+) Treg cells did. Moreover, the regulatory immune responses induced by H.pylori were not limited to gastric mucosa. Our findings may provide new clues for further research on H.pylori immune evasion and diseases associated with H.pylori infection.ImmunologyInfectious DiseasesMicrobiologySCI(E)[email protected]
