Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. Experimental Study Of The Effect Of Piccolo Tube Pipe On The Air-Conditioning Experimental Rig
Air-Conditioning system plays vital role in Indoor Air Quality. Low humidity in atmosphere cost crucial consequence to human skin and nasal passages. Installing ultrasonic humidifier to air conditioning system is one of the options to make up lost humidity. An experimental HVAC rig is combined with ultrasonic humidifier to humidify the system by using a piccolo tube. This paper presents experimental study of humidity profile in an experimental rig at different air velocity and piccolo holes diameter.
Experiment results show that, under fixed inlet air velocity and mist flow rate, relative humidity (RH) increased with piccolo holes diameter. RH of 12mm holes diameter
piccolo tube is 7.4% higher than 5 mm holes diameter piccolo tube for 3ms-1 air velocity. Similarly, under fixed piccolo holes diameter and mist flow rate, RH is decreased with increasing air velocity. RH of 5ms-1 velocity is 13.4% lower than 1ms-1 velocity for RH change. Rate of humidity added to the HVAC system by ultrasonic humidifier also increased with respect to holes diameter size and air velocity. 3ms-1

Intelligent Manufacturing And Energy Sustainability
Water spray technique is used in many applications like cooling, humidifying, and firefighting applications. The performances of 1,4, and 9 number of nozzles under horizontal parallel, counter, and vertical flow arrangement have been experimentally analyzed for air volume flow rate from 0.34 to 2.15 m3/s, room temperature from 28.5 to 30.2 °C, and relative humidity between 59 and 78%. The data show clear trend between relative humidity and number of nozzles. 9.5, 10.5, and 20% higher humidification by percentage achieved for the highest number of nozzles than lower number of nozzles in vertical, parallel, and counter flow arrangement, respectively. However, flow evaporation is greatly affected than mist evaporation performance under parallel flow placement at single-nozzle arrangement. Vertical arrangement with 9 nozzles showed 20.3% higher relative humidity than 1 nozzle under counter flow arrangement
Experimental Investigation On A Desiccant Silica Bed for Dehumidification
Energy demand Is getting higher from time to time all over the world especially in Malaysia. In order to cope with energy cost and climate change that taking place to achieve the thermal comfort, alternative cooling methods should be placed to reduce consumption of energy. Desiccant cooling technique Is one of the promising alternative method, avoids the refrigerants use and eliminate effect on the ozone layer. This study focused on single layer hollow silica gel bed dehumidification ability as the solid desiccant material under variable air velocity between 1 ms-1 to 5 ms-1. Experimental Investigation concluded that moisture adsorption ability Is Increased respect to air velocity for hollow desiccant arrangement for 1 ms-1to 2.1 ms-1 range. However, 2.1 ms-1 to 5 ms-1 showed steep decrease in moisture adsorption. 5 ms-1 air velocity Illustrated 10.5 times lower dehumidification than 3.7 ms-1
Effect Of Nozzle Rotation Angles And Sizes On Thermal Characteristic Of Swirl Anti-Icing
The Federal Aviation Administration requires all aircraft manufacturers to adhere to maximum noise level standards. Thus, a bias acoustic liner is introduced, to intensify the noise equipment system, as well as prevent ice accumulation on the nacelle D-chamber. The hotspot phenomenon, by the Piccolo tube anti-icing system, could damage the bias acoustic liner. Therefore, a swirl anti-icing system is further investigated, to reduce the hotspot effect on die bias acoustic liner. The present work investigates the effect of nozzle rotation angles at various mass-flow-rates of hot-air supplied on the nacelle lip-skin temperature distribution, in order to enhance the swirl anti-icing system's performance. The effect of the nozzle ratio area on the swirl anti-icing system's performance to be discussed in the present work. The simulation results show that the hotspot temperature decreases by 26 % and the cold spot temperature increases by 18 %, as the nozzle to be rotated from 0° to 13° towards the inner skin. However, the nozzle ratio area shows a negative effect on the swirl anti-icing performance, where the hotspot temperature increases by 6.7% and the cold spot temperature decreases by 30.2 % with the ratio nozzle area increasing from 0.1083 to 0.8354. According to swirl anti-icing empirical values, the average Nusselt number is directly pro-portional to the average Reynolds number. In conclusion, the temperature distribution on the nacelle lip-skin and the swirl anti-icing system's performance improves as the angle of nozzle direction increases, rotating towards the inner skin Swirl anti-icing does not generate hotspot on the inner skin, thus making it suitable for use in a bias acoustic liner system
