The effect of moisture content in the production of agarwood tea: article / Izni Syazana Ismail and Habsah Alwi
Tea is a beverage that consume by people the most, aside water. Agarwood tea has so many benefits such as the antioxidant activities, anti-hypertensive and anti-inflammatory. A few benefits have been proven by a study on the Agarwood tea. The process of making Agarwood tea is the same as the process of making green tea from the leaves of Camellia sinensis. In this study, the equipment used for the drying process was Vacuum Far-Infrared Radiation (VFIR) dryer and the leaves used were Aquilaria Subintegra species. Based on the previous research, the optimum parameters of the VFIR dyer were set at 50˚C and 0.6 bar for 120 minutes for drying to study the chemical constituents in the Agarwood leaves. However, since previous study just used constant drying period, thus in this research, the first experiment conducted used the same parameters but only varying the time in order to find the optimum drying period. As for the result, 120 minutes is the optimum drying period after studying the moisture content removal analysis, colony count analysis and antioxidant activity. Another experiment conducted to study on the how moisture content of different storage conditions affects the lifespan of Agarwood tea. The two storage conditions used were the kitchen and air-conditioning room. The results of the samples were obtained every 7 days which repeated for 28 days by studying the moisture content removal analysis, colony count analysis and antioxidant activity. This study shows that the Agarwood tea stored in the air-conditioning room was actually increase its lifespan as long the tea was kept in a sealed packaging
Exploring Malay-Islamic Ethnomathematics: Al-Khatib's Combinatoric Theory In ‘Alam Al-Hussab And Raudah Al-Hussab
AbstractIn this paper, we take the position of exploring ethno-mathematics, a branch of knowledge on mathematical thinking of a certain ethnic group on the mathematical concept of permutation and combination, in Malay World under the Islamic influence. The subject mathematics was taught and studied in the Malay region in conjunction with other branches of knowledge especially the ones that are related to Islamic jurisprudence before the arrival of Western mathematics. With reference to two classical texts of the same author of the late 19th century as evident in the title of this article, quantitative and qualitative aspects of etnomathematics, characterised by their values and thinking of the subject were discussed
Plagiarism: More than Meets the Eye
Plagiarism is the euphemism for ‘academic theft’, ‘academic dishonesty’ and ‘academic misconduct in academia’; and is the taboo word among academics in academia. This paper discusses the issue of plagiarism in terms of what constitutes plagiarism, who are normally ‘the practitioners’ of plagiarism, be it un-intentionally or otherwise, factors contributing to the practise of plagiarism, effects and implications of plagiarism on the ‘practitioners’, and offers suggestions on how to reduce (if not eliminate) any involvement in plagiarism. Knowledge and awareness about plagiarism would help academics and aspiring scholars to steer away from this act, as plagiarism would have dire and long term repercussions on their career, reputation and those who come to be associated with them

The internalization of akhlaq among Selangor secondary school students
The internalization of akhlaq is vital as it serves as a stronghold that preserves one’s belief, values, faith and culture. This will make one not only knowledgeable but also practices his belief in all aspects of his life. The question is whether or not today’s education is internalizing akhlaq among the students? This paper discusses the findings of a study on the internalization of akhlaq among secondary school students in the state of Selangor, Malaysia. This quantitative study involved 715 form four Muslim students aged 16 years old from 10 secondary schools in Selangor. A questionnaire was employed in collecting the data. It consisted of three constructs to measure the internalization of akhlaq, i.e. akhlaq towards Allah, the Prophet, and the Qur'an. The findings showed that the respondents could be classified into two levels of internalization of akhlaq, i.e. high level and moderate. The high internalization of akhlaq was towards Allah; while the moderate internalization of akhlaq was towards The Prophet, and the Quran. However, the overall findings showed a moderate level of internalization of akhlaq among the respondents. The finding also showed significant differences in the internalization of akhlaq based on gender and school location

Mathematics teachers’ preparation program: Determining the balance between contents in mathematics and pedagogy
Teacher educators in the university need to know what types of knowledge and what levels of knowledge acquisition are necessary to become effective mathematics teachers; and
what contexts are most conducive to learning how to teach. One theoretical model of teacher knowledge suggests seven domains of teachers' professional knowledge: knowledge of subject matter, pedagogical content knowledge, knowledge of other contents, knowledge of the curriculum, knowledge of learners, knowledge of educational aims, and general pedagogical knowledge (Shulman & Grossman, 1988; Wilson et al., 1987). Graham et al. (2000) found that in most institutions, content courses are typically taught in
the mathematics departments and methods by the faculty of education. He asserted that division may foster a perspective that methods are unrelated to content or that content is more important than method. A study was conducted to identify the emphasis in the contents of the mathematics education curriculum in Malaysian universities. Based on the types of mathematics education programs offered, students preparedness to become teachers are revealed based on their confidence to teach, pedagogical content knowledge, views of mathematics, aspects that need be emphasized in teaching and their perceived importance of aspects to be incorporated in teaching
