Cystatin C has been established as a reliable marker for the early detection of renal
dysfunction due to its stability and high sensitivity. On the other hand, renal dysfunction
is the inability of the kidneys to perform their normal blood filtering functions. The
purpose of the study was to evaluate cystatin C levels in people aged 25 to 29 in the city
of Jipijapa. The methodology was observational, descriptive, and cross-sectional. The
results obtained showed a low prevalence of diabetes, with only 2% of the sample
affected, high blood pressure in 12%, overweight or obesity being more prevalent in men
(20%) than women (2%), and cardiovascular and autoimmune diseases being uncommon,
affecting only 4%. Tobacco consumption is low, with 8% of smokers, and only 2% have
been diagnosed with kidney disease. Cystatin C levels are normal in 32% of men and 56%
of women. Based on cystatin C values, 32% of men have normal kidney function and 4%
have severely reduced kidney function. On the other hand, in women, 56% are normal
and 8% have a severe decrease in kidney function. It was concluded that the analysis
suggests that elevated cystatin C levels and the presence of kidney failure are significantly
related to a history of cardiovascular disease and a previous diagnosis of kidney disease.
The Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is a highly prevalent pathogen worldwide and one of the main causes of cervical cancer. The objective is the recent development in CRISPR/Cas9 technology for the elimination of HPV DNA and to evaluate therapeutic perspectives. We considered preclinical and clinical studies on the efficacy of CRISPR/Cas9 in editing the HPV DNA genome using a systematic literature review approach. The most important results indicate that CRISPR/Cas9 is highly efficient in eliminating HPV DNA in human cervical cells, supporting its potential as a therapeutic tool. However, technical challenges were identified, such as the need to improve the specificity of the system to avoid unwanted edits to the genome, and ethical considerations in its clinical application were highlighted. In conclusion, Crispr Cas9 is a great way to combat HPV, but its clinical implementation is a technical and ethical dilemma as it requires a unique set of guidelines to ensure its efficacy and safety.

Situación actual de disfunción renal: factores de riesgo, diagnóstico de laboratorio
Renal dysfunction is defined as the presence of kidney damage or an estimated glomerular filtration rate, which persists for 3 months or longer, regardless of the cause. It is a state of progressive loss of kidney function, ultimately resulting in the need for kidney replacement therapy (dialysis or transplant). The objective of the present investigation was to determine the main risk factors and laboratory diagnostic methods of patients with renal dysfunction. A descriptive documentary review methodology was used. The main results show that almost 50% of patients who suffer from this pathology are influenced by gender. The age group most affected by chronic kidney disease is the segment between 50 and 80 years old, which includes 64% of those affected and 79% come from urban areas. The most frequent risk factor was high blood pressure with 85.7% of patients presenting with the condition, followed by diabetes mellitus (DM) in 54.6%, kidney stones in 28.6%, glomerulonephritis (GN) in 31 ,1%. The gold diagnostic test is 24-hour urine proteinuria for kidney damage and glomerular filtration rate. Likewise, it is practical to use the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) with an equation for intrinsic markers such as creatinine. It is concluded that diabetes and hypertension are the main causes of kidney dysfunction, as well as glomerulonephritis, genetic diseases, autoimmune diseases, birth defects and other problems.
Introduction: The gender approach in sexual education seeks to promote gender equality and address gender differences in relation to the sexuality and reproductive of adolescents. These aspects are essential to understand and address the particular needs of communities, as is the case from the Chade parish in the Jipijapa canton, aims to prevent teenage pregnancy and highlight the importance of gender as an element of reproductive health. Through a diagnosis that includes mixed quantitative and qualitative techniques, predominant beliefs and behaviors in the study population are identified. Results: Among the main results, it was obtained that of the population studied, 75% responded yes, while 25% responded no, regarding the issue of whether it is normal for adolescent women to grow breasts and menstruate before their children. 12 years; 20% of the population indicate that fathers and mothers should support men more than women when adolescence or puberty begins, on the other hand, 94% of the population studied indicate that no, that both men and women should be supported equally when they begin puberty; 5% of the population indicates yes, while on the other hand 95% of the population studied indicates no to the issue of child marriage; 65% of the population indicates yes, while the remaining 35% indicates no to the issue of the consequences of a child marriage or union at an early age of a girl between 12 and 17 years old. Conclusion: A clear divergence of perceptions was concluded in the population studied regarding the responsibility of sexuality education in girls, boys and adolescents. This finding highlights the need to continue exploring and addressing the issue of the gender approach in sexual and reproductive education for adolescents, with the aim of promoting a more complete understanding; the importance of implementing educational strategies that consider different perspectives and needs, thus guaranteeing inclusive and effective sexual education for all young people.
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
