Roboception and adaptation in a cognitive robot
In robotics, perception is usually oriented at understanding what is happening in the external world, while few works pay attention to what is occurring in the robot’s body. In this work, we propose an artificial somatosensory system, embedded in a cognitive architecture, that enables a robot to perceive the sensations from its embodiment while executing a task. We called these perceptions roboceptions, and they let the robot act according to its own physical needs in addition to the task demands. Physical information is processed by the robot to behave in a balanced way, determining the most appropriate trade-off between the achievement of the task and its well being. The experiments show the integration of information from the somatosensory system and the choices that lead to the accomplishment of the task
The article following a solicitation by Gennaro Luongo, recently deceased, deals with the hagiographic dossier of Agnese. The author traces it between history and legend, literary documents and monumental evidences, iconography and devotional practices. This allows her to highlight the transformations (modifications) and continuous re-functionalizations of the character, as well as to advance some hypotheses on/regarding the reasons that presided over these continuous re-reading processes
Twenty-five years after the death of one of the most refined and secluded writers of the second half of the 20th century, the complete catalogue of works and author papers in the Giuseppe Dessí Collection is available, thanks to the work and philological expertise of Agnese Landini. The filing of the material, deposited in the Contemporary Archives of the Gabinetto Vieusseux in Florence, allows to retrace the complete bibliography of the published and unpublished works of the Sardinian writer and, while telling the story of a narrative path through documents, it eases access to notes and drafts of novels, short stories, plays, anthologies, translations, essays, poems, interviews
This paper offers an analysis of the marginalia to Catullus’ poems contained in a Roman incunable (Biblioteca Casanatense, Vol. Inc. 694). Most of these notes can be traced back to the so called ‘farrago pucciana’, annotations to Catullus, Tibullus and Propertius by Francesco Pucci, a disciple of Poliziano. These marginalia were held in high esteem by 16th-century humanists, and over twenty copies of them survive today. In this paper the exemplar of the Casanatense incunable is identified and some hypotheses regarding the author of this copy and his connections with Piero Vettori are discussed, along with an outline of the tradition of the farrago pucciana
Per la biografia di fr. Iacopo Passavanti OP (1302 ca.-1357)
Iacopo Passavanti is currently known for his sermons and as the author of one of the oldest theological treatises, which was redacted both in Latin and Vernacular. However, he was also a leading member of the Order of Preachers and a spokesman of an innovative reli- gious and cultural project which, it seems, he held in common with the entirety of the Order of St. Dominic. With this paper, we intend to recreate the friar’s biography and shed light on his works. Thus, we will proceed with a critical reading of the documents that concern him, which we organized, for the occasion, in a new Diplomatic Code

Conversation and learning in early childhood education: what works best for children’s cognitive development and how to improve pupil engagement?
Generally, all schools state that they are children-focused, but this
aim is most visible in communication if children have autonomy
and freedom of expression. The purpose of this article is twofold:
first, to describe some features of conversations’ in early
childhood education, and, second, to investigate the conditions in
which pupils are more engaged and more participative. The
research was carried out by the author observing real daily
activity in preschools around Reggio Emilia. Conversations are
intentionally defined and started by teachers. The teachers’ open
and closed questions are analysed and categorised, as well as the
children’s answers and child-initiated interactions. Results indicate
that classroom discourse can be categorised with four kinds of
topics, showing that narrative contexts and shared knowledge
contexts are the most promising situations to promote children’s
engagement, through longer children’s interactions and complex
child-initiated interactions. Findings are discussed also in relation
to the groups’ numerosity
The use of the visualization method in the acquisition of mathematics in 7th to 9th grade
Bakalaura darba attēlu skaits - 70, tabulu skaits - 8, bibliogrāfisko vienību skaits - 54, pielikumu skaits - 5.The bachelor paper is about the use of the visualization method in the acquisition of mathematics in 7th to 9th grade; the author of the paper is Agnese Saukuma, the advisor is Assoc. Prof. Jānis Mencis. During the elaboration of the bachelor paper, emphasizing the aim of the research - to find out the possibilities of applying visualization tools in learning mathematics in 7th to 9th grade and its impact on students’ learning achievements, the author analysed the method of visualization, the peculiarities of students' development in adolescence, the possibilities of using visualization tools in the acquisition of mathematics. An empirical study was performed using several research methods. The obtained results allow stating that with the help of appropriate visualization tools the student can notice, understand, apply, and express a reasonable opinion about mathematical operations and their regularities, thus the use of the visualization method in the learning process is an important factor that improves students' learning achievements. The length of the bachelor paper is 71 pages (with appendices). The number of figures in the bachelor paper - 70, the number of tables - 8, the number of bibliographic units - 54, and the number of appendices - 5
