written documents. It helps to monitor growth of literature and patterns of research.
This paper examines the articles published in Journal of Indian Library
Association(ILA) for ascertain number chronological distribution of articles,
number of pages, authorship pattern and degree of collaboration, institutional wise
contribution and geographical distribution of articles were recorded and analyzed
for making observations. The studies carried out for this paper found that, majority
of papers are multi- authored. The degree of collaboration is found to be 0.51. The
geographical distribution reveals that the contribution by India is the highest. And
the average author per paper is 6.0
Research Publication Pattern of Journal of Indian Library Association (JILA): A Bibliometric Analysis during 2015-2019
Get PDFThe present paper aims to investigate the publishing pattern of The Journal of Indian Library Association (JILA) published during 2015-2019. During this period, a total of 107 research articles has been published by various contributors across the country. The study explores the bibliometric aspects like distribution of articles, year-wise growth of publications, authorship pattern of publication their degree of collaboration and an average rate of publication per author. The maximum growth rate was measured in the year 2019 with 21.73%, and individual authors published 47.67% of scholarly articles. The findings of the study demonstrate the strength of the Journal, which will be helpful for further development

Bibliometric studies of Journal of Indian Library Association (JILA) during 2015-2020
Get PDFThe paper presents a bibliometric study of the journal titled “Journal of Indian Library Association (JILA) for the period between 2015-2020. The present study reveals the results of a bibliometric study of 148 articles published in the Journal of ILA. The analysis cover mainly the number of articles, authorship pattern, subject-wise distribution of articles, average number of references per articles, forms of documents cited, year wise distribution of cited journals etc. Study reveals that most of the contributions are from India with 99.61% and the rest 0.39% only from foreign sources. Maximum authors are from Karnataka and highest numbers of articles (37.83%) have the page length of 9-12 pages. Furthermore, topics like ‘users study’, ‘library automation and ICT application’ and Digital Library are the preferred subjects for publishing papers in the journal
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
