Aslan\u27s career began in 1998 when was elected president of Harvard\u27s chapter of the World Conference on Religion and Peace (WCRP), a United Nations organization committed to the cause of global understanding. After consecutive nuclear tests by India and Pakistan, the WCRP, under Aslan\u27s leadership, brought the ambassadors of the two countries to Harvard in order to discuss for the first time their shared nuclear future.
Aslan\u27s work with the WCRP led to a position as legislative assistant for the Friends Committee on National Legislation in Washington, D.C., where he served as a liaison to Congress on issues of arms control and the Middle East.
He holds a bachelor\u27s degree in religion from Santa Clara University, a master\u27s in theological studies from Harvard and a master of fine arts degree in fiction from the University of Iowa. He is currently a doctoral candidate in history of religions at the University of California, Santa Barbara

It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Araştırmamızda Dursun Ali İnan ile yaptığımız röportajdan, hakkında yapılmış belgesellerden, Uzungöl üzerine yazılan makale ve tezlerden yararlanılarak İnan’ın 1970’ten önceki hayatına, Uzungöl’de gerçekleştirdiği yenilikçi adımlara, bölge halkının görüşlerine ve bölgedeki gelişmelere katkılarına, İnan’ın bölge halkı için yarattığı fırsatlara, Uzungöl’ün günümüzde karşılaştığı tehlikelere ve yakın tarihte açılmış olan Dursun Ali Müzesi’ne odaklanılmıştır. Uzungöl’ü bir turizm merkezi haline getiren Dursun Ali İnan, bölge turizmi ve Trabzon için büyük önem taşımaktadır.Before 1970, Uzungöl was a region where the local population had to rely on livestock farming for livelihood and struggled with unemployment and migration. Dursun Ali İnan, who went to Germany in 1969 and returned in 1974, conducted certain several activities for tourism in the region. These activities started with the establishment of bungalows and a fish restaurant by Dursun Ali İnan. This study focuses on interviews conducted with Dursun Ali İnan, documentaries made about him, and articles and theses on Uzungöl to focus on Dursun Ali’s life before 1970, his innovative steps on the region, the perspectives of the local community of İnan, the positives İnan has created for the community, the current threats against Uzungöl and the recently created Dursun Ali Museum.
