The Inada Conditions for Material Resource Inputs Reconsidered

    No full text
It is shown that the thermodynamic law of conservation of mass, the so-called Materials-Balance-Principle, implies that the marginal product as well as the average product of a material resource input are bounded from above. This means that the Inada conditions, one of the standard assumptions of economic growth theory, when applied to material resource inputs are inconsistent with a basic law of nature. The analysis is based on a model of multi-level production where intermediate goods are produced from elementary resources, and an all-purpose final commodity is produced from these intermediates. Inada Conditions and the Law of Diminishing Returns

    No full text
Inada (1963) provided properties of the production function that are useful in the study of economic growth. Shephard (1970a) provided an axiomatic approach to the study of production theory. He applied these axioms to give a formal statement of the law of diminishing returns (Shephard, 1970b). In this paper we demonstrate that the Inada conditions and the law of diminishing returns, as articulated by Shephard, are fundamentally inconsistent. Thus one is forced to make a choice between the two models when studying productivity and growth

K-Ar biotite ages of the coarse-grained granites from the Inada area, Ibaraki Prefecture: Evaluation of suitability for a new K-Ar dating standard

    No full text
論文(Article)K-Ar ages have been determined on biotite fractions of three coarse-grained granites from the Inada area, Ibaraki Prefecture. Ages are 65.0 +/- 2.3 Ma for Inada-I, 63.7 +/- 2.2 Ma for Inada-II and 62.1 +/- 2.8 Ma for Inada-III. The Inada-II sample is a better candidate than the other two samples as a K-Ar dating standard on the basis of thin section observation and K-Ar dating results. However, a chlorite removal step is necessary to make the new dating standard

Do Inada Conditions imply Cobb-Douglas Asymptotic Behavior or only a Elasticity of Substitution equal to one

    No full text
Barelli and De Breu Passôa proved that Inada conditions imply asymptotic Cobb-Douglas behavior of the production function. This was corrected by Litina and Palivos by putting that only the elasticity of substitution is equal to one. We will correct both proof and arguments and come up with a proof without limitations, leaving the conclusion of Barelli unaltered but with a less restrictive proof. Furthermore if Inada conditions apply then the elasticity of substitution is bounded

Argument about the House of Peers by Shunosuke Inada - Note on Shunosuke Inada's Constitutional Doctrine (1) -

publisher青森Reviewing Shunosuke Inada' s constitutional doctrine, which has been found at the peripheries of the constitutional doctrine of such scholars as Yatsuka Hozumi, Shinkichi Uesugi and Tatsukichi Minobe, but nevertheless has not been fully examined so far, has important implications and performs a fundamental task, that of filling in the gap in the research of the history of Japanese constitutional doctrine. This paper verifies Inada' s arguments regarding the House of Peers. At first, Inada advocated a review on the organizational structure of the House of Peers and proposed the establishment of a conference to be held jointly by the House of Peers and the House of Representatives as a method to achieve harmonization between both Houses, but thereafter criticized the House of Peers' adopting of a non-confidence resolution against the cabinet and the minister of state. At the same time he set out to assert his principles on constitutional amendments to achieve improvement of the organizational structure of the House of Peers. Furthermore, circumstances where constitutional amendments were rendered impossible by the appointment of a Regent led him to assert that the authority of the House of Peers should be clarified by the amendments to the Law of the Houses. The assertions that the Constitution should be amended for improvement of the organizational structure of the House of Peers and that the clarification of the authority of the House of Peers may be achieved by the mendments to the Law of the Houses are noteworthy in the history of constitutional doctrine.
