Religious beliefs from the perspectiveb of Japanese aesthetics: Mushishi by Yuki Urushibara
The Japanese culture is often portrayed as unique, in particular when compared to broadly-understood Western culture. It is important to notice, however, that the main trait of the Japanese culture is its openness towards outside influences and the ability to modify them to fit better with the Japanese system of values. The same could be applied to the Japanese aesthetics, which concernsm various aspects of life, not only the ones that would be described as art in Western culture. The contemporary Japanese culture and the aesthetics along with it is occasionally a combination of tradition and modern ideas; the works of popular culture, which includes comics and animation, may hold the most interesting cases in that regard. This article describes the issues of the Japanese aesthetics in Mushishi, a comic book by Yuki Urushibara. The author, while inspired by the classical works of Japanese literature and legendary tales, presents her own stories, in which the primary aesthetic value is the harmony between human and nature, sometimes represented by the supernatural beings known as mushi.

Outline of the Author YUKI Shigeko : Based on the Documents of YUKI Shigeko Collections of Kobe College
In this manuscript, I mainly focus on an introduction of the documents in Yuki Shigeko Collections of Kobe College Library. which was roughly organized in March 2016, while writing activities of the author Yuki Shigeko (1900-1969) has been described from several different view-points. Some documents of the Collections were investigated to show the details and newly discovered facts relative to previous explanations and works described in the chronological records. First, I re-confirmed the personal criticism of her by examining documents on her interview after she received the Akutagawa prize in 1949, and introduced her views on culture and marriage. Subsequently, the involvements of the editor YAGIOKA Eiji was indicated based on the manuscripts, fairy stories, in particular, up to the same time, and I discuss the presence of her persistence as an author by showing traces of elaboration of the titles and names of characters. Having identified the descriptions in diaries and notebooks, which are connected to her individual work, I attempted to make significance of her notes on work ideas that were derived from descriptions on the facts noted like on a memorandum book for each description. Finally, I focused on 2 scenarios of 'Shiken Bekkyo' , which is the original novel for 'On-na Gokoro' (HARA Setsuko as a main actress, February 1959, Toho Production) and another one in library materials, and clarified the relationship of the scripts and the original book, which was accompanied with a discussion from descriptions in a diary, and I traced the processes of the film adaptation of the literature. Overall, with the new documents, in this present paper I was able to recognize new aspects of the author YUKI Shigeko, who had so far been strongly characterized by her many novels published in the mid 1950s, by re-examining chiefly work from the early years of her writing career.departmental bulletin pape
On Evaluating Floating Car Data Quality for Knowledge Discovery
Floating car data (FCD) denotes the type of data (location, speed, and destination) produced and broadcasted periodically by running vehicles. Increasingly, intelligent transportation systems take advantage of such data for prediction purposes as input to road and transit control and to discover useful mobility patterns with applications to transport service design and planning, to name just a few applications. However, there are considerable quality issues that affect the usefulness and efficacy of FCD in these many applications. In this paper, we propose a methodology to compute such quality indicators automatically for large FCD sets. It leverages on a set of statistical indicators (named Yuki-san) covering multiple dimensions of FCD such as spatio-temporal coverage, accuracy, and reliability. As such, the Yuki-san indicators provide a quick and intuitive means to assess the potential ``value'' and ``veracity'' characteristics of the data. Experimental results with two mobility-related data mining and supervised learning tasks on the basis of two real-world FCD sources show that the Yuki-san indicators are indeed consistent with how well the applications perform using the data. With a wider variety of FCD (e.g., from navigation systems and CAN buses) becoming available, further research and validation into the dimensions covered and the efficacy of the Yuki-San indicators is needed.Green Open Access added to TU Delft Institutional Repository ‘You share, we take care!’ – Taverne project https://www.openaccess.nl/en/you-share-we-take-care Otherwise as indicated in the copyright section: the publisher is the copyright holder of this work and the author uses the Dutch legislation to make this work public.Transport and Plannin
Condition Assessment of Highly-loaded Low-speed Bearings Using Acoustic Emission Monitoring: A Feasibility Study
In the present study, feasibility of implementing an acoustic emission (AE) system for condition monitoring of highly-loaded and low-speed roller bearings has been quantitatively investigated. To evaluate the transmission of damage-induced AE signals inside the bearing and their detectability on the accessible surfaces, stress wave propagation through the complex geometry and interfaces of a representative offshore bearing has been studied experimentally. The results suggest that in the investigated frequency ranges, the AE signals that pass through the bearing rollers and their interface with the inner and outer raceways can potentially remain of sufficient strength to be detected for condition assessment of these bearings.Accepted Author ManuscriptShip and Offshore StructuresShip Hydromechanics and Structure

This study discusses the implementation of Japanese culture and the positive and negative values contained in the Karuta game in the film Chihayafuru by Yuki Suetsugu. The theories used in this research are cultural theory and representation theory in the media. The purpose of this research is to find out what Japanese culture is contained in the Chihayafuru film and what positive and negative values are contained in this Chihayafuru film. The method used in this research is literature study, and a qualitative approach method that is descriptive and analytical. The results of this research state that there are traditional Japanese games, namely Karuta, traditional Japanese clothing, namely Kimono, classical Japanese poetry, and Omi Jingu in this film. In this study the author analyzes the characteristics and cultural context in the film. This film provides a clear picture of how to play the traditional game of Karuta, about Japanese cultural heritage and how this culture is passed down from generation to generation. The author also appreciates how this film can influence viewers in their knowledge of Japanese culture and increase their understanding of positive values such as hard work, patience, courage, friendship, the spirit of not giving up and strong determination. while the negative value is trivializing formal lessons at school.85 PagesSkripsi Sarjan

Agri-Environmental Policy and Moral Hazard under Output Price and Production Uncertainty
Several theoretical and empirical models have been developed to examine how risk aversion affects compliance with agri-environmental schemes under asymmetric information and uncertainty. However, none has examined the case where the level of compliance is a continuous variable and producers face simultaneous monitoring, output price and production uncertainty. Treating conservation effort as a continuous variable, we show that risk aversion can mitigate the moral hazard problem in most cases. However, if conservation effort has a risk-increasing impact on production the effect of risk aversion on compliance is ambiguous.Agri-environmental schemes, uncertainty, moral hazard, Environmental Economics and Policy,

Saki Oyama, Keiko Hosohata, Ayaka Inada, Iku Niinomi, Yasuhiro Mori, Yuki Yamaguchi, Mayako Uchida, Kazunori Iwanaga Education and Research Center for Clinical Pharmacy, Osaka University of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Takatsuki, Osaka, Japan Introduction: Tubulointerstitial nephritis (TIN) is a problem in clinical settings because drug therapy is the cause in most cases. Patients often present with nonspecific symptoms, which can lead to delays in the diagnosis and treatment of the disease. The purpose of this study was to clarify the rank-order of the association of TIN with the causative drugs using a spontaneous reporting system database. Materials and methods: Data were extracted from the Japanese Adverse Drug Event Report database of the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (Japan). Based on 5,195,890 reports of all adverse reactions, we obtained 3,088 reports of TIN caused by all drugs and calculated the reporting odds ratio (ROR) and 95% CI for TIN. Results: The 5 drugs with the highest RORs were gliclazide (ROR, 30.5; 95% CI, 17.4–53.2), tosufloxacin tosilate hydrate (ROR, 29.5; 95% CI, 21.3–41.0), piperacillin–tazobactam (ROR, 24.3; 95% CI, 19.4–30.5), cefteram pivoxil (ROR, 23.5; 95% CI, 12.5–44.2), and mefenamic acid (ROR, 22.5; 95% CI, 13.4–37.7). No sex-related difference was observed in drug-induced TIN. Most of the reports about TIN onset following the administration of culprit drugs were recorded within 12 weeks. Conclusion: Based on the results, a comprehensive study using a pharmacovigilance database enabled us to identify the dugs that most frequently induced TIN, so these drugs should be used carefully in clinical practice to avoid TIN. Evaluation of medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw using the Japanese Adverse Drug Event Report database
Ayaka Inada, Keiko Hosohata, Saki Oyama, Iku Niinomi, Yasuhiro Mori, Yuki Yamaguchi, Mayako Uchida, Kazunori Iwanaga Education and Research Center for Clinical Pharmacy, Osaka University of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Takatsuki, Osaka 569-1094, Japan Background: Bisphosphonates (BPs) and denosumab are widely used to treat osteoporosis and complications associated with bone metastases. However, medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) is a serious problem. Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the frequency, outcome, and characteristics of patients with drug-induced MRONJ. Methods: Retrospective pharmacovigilance disproportionality analysis was conducted using the Japanese Adverse Drug Event Report (JADER) database from the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency. Adverse event reports submitted to JADER between 2004 and 2017 were analyzed, and the reporting odds ratio (ROR) was calculated. Results: Among the BPs that cause MRONJ, zoledronate was the most common; therefore, we compared the characteristics of cases of MRONJ induced by zoledronate with those induced by denosumab. Among the 3,875 (68.1% women) cases of MRONJ, zoledronate-related MRONJ accounted for 1,283 (56.0% women) and denosumab-related MRONJ accounted for 322 (55.3% women). MRONJ was more frequent after 70 years of age regardless of the use of either zoledronate or denosumab; onset occurred after 1 year from the denosumab treatment, but it is unknown when onset occurred after zoledronate treatment. The outcomes for MRONJ were poor, with 406 reports on zoledronate (31.6%) and 152 reports on denosumab (47.2%) demonstrating nonrecovery. Zoledronate (ROR: 319.3, 95% CI: 296.0–344.4) had the highest ROR among BP agents. Denosumab had a high ROR (ROR: 155.2, 95% CI: 136.5–176.3). Zoledronate and denosumab were used in similar patient backgrounds, and their use resulted in a similar frequency of MRONJ. Conclusion: The findings of this comprehensive evaluation of MRONJ using the JADER database will be helpful for prescribing medications to elderly patients.
