Some new diagnostics of multicollinearity in linear regression model
The problem of multicollinearity compromises the numerical stability of the regression coefficient estimate and cause some serious problem in validation and interpretation of the model. In this paper, we propose two new collinearity diagnostics for the detection of collinearity among regressors, based on coefficient of determination and adjusted coefficient of determination from auxiliary regression of regressors. A Monte Carlo simulation study has been conducted to compare the existing and proposed collinearity diagnostic tests. Comparison of diagnostics on some existing collinear data are also made

Terrorism and the US Drone Attacks in Pakistan ::Killing First /
This book analyses the US drone attacks against terrorists in Pakistan to assess whether the pre-emptive' use of combat drones to kill terrorists is ever legally justified. Exploring the doctrinal discourse of pre-emption vis--vis the US drone attacks against terrorists in Pakistan, the book shows that the debate surrounding this discourse encapsulates crucial tensions between the permission and limits of the right of self-defence. Drawing from the long history of God-given and man-made laws of war, this book employs positivism as a legal frame to explore and explain the doctrine of pre-emption and analyses the doctrine of the state's rights to self-defence as it stretches into pre-emptive or preventive use of force. The book investigates why the US chose the recourse to pre-emption through the use of combat drones in the war on terror' and whether there is a potential future for the pre-emption of terrorism through combat drones. The author argues that the policy to kill first' is easy to adopt; however, any disregard for the web of legal requirements surrounding the policy has the potential to undercut the legal claims of an armed act. The book enables the framing and analysis of such controversies in legal terms as opposed to a choice between law and policy. 학위논문 (박사)-- 서울대학교 대학원 : 수의과대학 수의학과, 2018. 8. Oh-Kyeong Kweon.The primary spinal cord injury (SCI) causes mechanical damage to the neurons and blood vessels. It leads to secondary SCI which activates multiple pathological pathways, which expand neuronal damage at the injury site. It is characterized by vascular disruption, ischemia, excitotoxicity, oxidation, inflammation and apoptotic cell death. It causes nerve demyelination and disruption of axons which perpetuate into a loss of impulse conduction through the injured spinal cord. It also leads to the production of myelin inhibitory molecules which with a concomitant formation of an astroglial scar, impede axonal regeneration. The pivotal role regarding the neuronal necrosis is played by oxidation and inflammation. During an early stage of spinal cord injury there occur an abundant expression of reactive oxygen species (ROS) due to defective mitochondrial metabolism and abundant migration of phagocytes (macrophages, neutrophils). ROS cause lipid peroxidation of the cell membrane, and cell death. Abundant migration of neutrophils, macrophages, and lymphocytes collectively produce pro-inflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6), interleukin-1beta (IL-1β), matrix metalloproteinase, superoxide dismutase and myeloperoxidases which synergize neuronal apoptosis. Therefore, it is crucial to control inflammation and oxidation injury to minimize the nerve cell death during secondary spinal cord injury. Therefore, in response to oxidation and inflammation, heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) is induced by the resident cells to ameliorate the milieu. In the meanwhile, neurotrophic factors are induced to promote neuroregeneration. However, it seems that anti-stress enzyme (HO-1) and neurotrophic factor (BDNF) do not significantly combat the pathological events during secondary spinal cord injury. Therefore, an optimum healing can be induced if anti-inflammatory and neurotrophic factors are administered in a higher amount through an exogenous source.
In the 1st chapter, I selectively targeted the inflammation and neuroregeneration. I co-transplanted HO-1 expressing MSCs (HO-1 MSCs) and BDNF expressing MSCs (BDNF MSC) in one group (combination group) of dogs with subacute spinal cord injury to selectively control the expression of inflammatory cytokines by HO-1 and induce neuroregeneration by BDNF. We compared the combination group with HO-1 MSCs group, BDNF MSCs group, and GFP MSCs group. We found that the combination group showed significant improvement in functional recovery. It showed increased expression of neural markers and growth associated proteins (GAP-43) than in other groups, which depicts enhanced neuroregeneration/neural sparing due to reduced expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-alpha, IL-6 and COX-2CONTENTS

Contributions to the Field of Library and Information Sciences in Pakistan: A Bio Bibliometric Study of Dr. Saeed Ullah Jan
Abstract
Purpose- This paper presents the bio-bibliometric analysis of Dr. Saeed Ullah Jan\u27s contributions to the Library and Information Science (LIS) field in Pakistan. This study includes the following: the year-wise distribution of research produced; authors\u27 collaboration; publications by type; language; geographical preference for research; and coverage of different subject areas.
Methodology/Design- The data for this retrospective study was requested through email from Dr. Saeed Ullah Jan with advance ethical permission and further verified from Scholar Google, the official university website, and departments where required.
Findings- The results of the study indicate that Dr. Saeed Ullah Jan is a prolific writer and supervisor in LIS in Pakistan. He contributed 178 items, including 76 articles, two books, 86 theses, and fourteen conference papers, and secured eleven research grants until June 30, 2022. His most significant contribution is establishing two LIS departments with two postgraduate LIS education (MPhil and PhD) programs for the first time in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He has the honor of launching the first LIS Higher Education Commission (HEC) recognized research journal from the fertile land of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Research work by Dr. Saeed Ullah Jan has received worldwide recognition and has been accepted in leading journals in the United Kingdom, Canada, Japan, and the United States of America. He used the English language to publish the majority of his research work. He believes in teamwork, and about 98% of his research work was done in collaboration. He is also an HEC recognized and approved Ph.D. supervisor.
Originality- This study is a unique biobibliometric study that systematically combined the research productivity of Dr. Saeed Ullah Jan and provided a holistic sketch of the literature produced on various themes of LIS during 2011–2022.
Research limitations- Due to the limited area of biobibliometrics of a single author, the results were not generalized
British Rule in the Subcontinent, Literary Movements, and the Authors of the Partition Period: Qudrat Ullah Shahab
Due to the rapid development of events since the 19th century alongside the British rule of the Indian subcontinent, genres such as novels and short stories were left out of Urdu literature. At that time, poetry had a great influence on mobilizing the masses, and a poetry-oriented trend had occurred in Urdu literature. However, at the beginning of the 20th century when Qudrat Ullah Shahab lived, an important Urdu literature writer and subject of the article, stories and novels are seen to have gained popularity alongside the poetry genre. Although prose had come about from Western literary figures in this period, these writers had dealt with stories specific to their own regions. As the people found their lives in these works, prose also consolidated its place in literature. Qudrat Ullah Shahab lived between 1920-1986, the period thatwitnessed the division of Pakistan and India, and succeeded in reflecting the painful life stories of this period in his stories as best he could. This study aims to introduce the life, literary personality, and works of Qudrat Ullah Shahab as one of the important writers of the Indian subcontinent who lived through the Partition period and was especially famous for his autobiography titled Shahabnama. Before talking about the author in this context, mentioning the situation of the subcontinent and the literary movements regarding the types of prose in his period would be appropriate
