Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used

Ulum) ini ditulis oleh Imam Mahmud dengan dibimbing oleh Prof. Dr.H.Achmad Patoni,
M.Ag dan Dr. Agus Zainul Fitri, M.Pd
Kata Kunci : Kepemimpinan, Visi, Kyai, Sekolah Berbasis Pesantren (SBP)
Penelitian dalam tesis ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pengelolan lembaga dan
kelangsungan hidup suatu pesantren sangat bergantung kepada “daya tarik” tokoh sentral
(kyai atau guru) yang memimpin, meneruskan dan mewarisinya. Jika pewaris menguasai
sepenuhnya baik pengetahuan keagamaan, wibawa, ketrampilan mengajar dan kekayaan
lainnya yang diperlukan, maka umur pesantren akan bertambah lama. Sebaliknya pesantren
akan menjadi mundur dan mungkin menghilang jika keturunan kyai yang mewarisinya tidak
memenuhi persyaratan. Jadi seorang figur pemimpin pesantren memang sangat menentukan
dan diperlukan. Kepemimpinan visioner Kyai merupakan kemampuan Kyai dalam mencipta,
merumuskan, mengkomunikasikan, mensosialisasikan, mentransformasikan dan
mengimplementasikan pemikiran-pemikiran ideal yang berasal dari dirinya atau sebagai hasil
pengetahuan interaksi sosial dalam rangka memanajemen pesantren termasuk dalam
mengelola lembaga pendidikan sekolah yang berbasis pesantren pesantren
Rumusan masalah dalam tesis ini adalah : (1) Bagaimana visi Kyai dalam manajemen
sekolah berbasis pesantren di SMP Islam Kota Blitar dan SMP Nabawi Maftahul Ulum
Jatinom Blitar?: (2) Bagaimana strategi Kyai untuk mewujudkan visi dalam menajemen
berbasis sekolah pesantren di SMP Islam Kota Blitar dan SMP Nabawi Maftahul Ulum
Jatinom Blitar ?: dan (3) Bagaimana implikasi terhadap pelaksanaan visi Kyai manajemen
sekolah berbasis pesantren di SMP Islam Kota Blitar dan SMP Nabawi Maftahul Ulum
Jatinom Blitar.
Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif. Sedangkan jenis
penelitian yang dipergunakan adalah penelitian penelitian lapangan. Lokasi dan
fokus penelitian dialkukan di 2 tempat yaitu di SMP Islam Kota Blitar dan SMP Nabawi
Maftahul Ulum Jatinom Blitar. Adapun teknik pengumpulan data dengan wawancara dan
observasim dimana peneliti sendiri sebagai Instrumen utama. Tehnik analisi data dilakukan
dengan menggunkan skema miles dan huberman, dengan teknik pengecekan data dilakukan
dengan menggunakan tehnik trianggulasi
Tesis ini bermanfaat bagi penulis untuk menambah wawasan , pola pikir, pola sikap,
dan pengalaman sebagai upaya meningkatkan kualitas dalam pembelajaran dalam kehidupan,
yakni untuk menjadi seorang pemimpin yang visioner terutama dalam kalangan pesantren
dan dunia pendidikan disamping dibentuk dan dipengaruhi keberhasilannya oleh kompetensi
individu pemimpin yang bersangkutan tapi juga ditentukan oleh prinsip-prinsip dalam
hidupnya yang menjadi pegangan. Disamping itu, seseorang pemimpin harus memahami : 1)
konsep visi, 2) karakteristik dan unsur visi, dan 3) tujuan visi. Hal ini perlu dikuasai agar
seorang pemimpin bisa menjadi perekayasa masa depan, agen perubahan, penentu arah
organisasi yang menjadi prioritasnya, pelatih dan pembimbing yang profesional.
Dari hasil penelitian ini, penulis menyimpulkan (1) Visi Kyai dalam Manajemen
sekolah berbasis pesantren di SMP Islam Kota Blitar dan SMP Nabawi Maftahul Ulum
muncul dari ide-ide, gagasan dan pemikiran murni Kyai. Visi tersbut tersebut dibangun dan
tercipta dipengaruhi oleh prinsip dan kompetensi kepemimpinan sang Kyai yang diperolehmelalui proses pendidikan, pengalaman dengan mendasarkan pada orientasi visi yang bersifat
inspiratif dan imajinatif guna membangun pesantren maupun sekolah masa depan. Visi yang
dimaksud adalah terwujudnya eksistensi pesantren yang tidak hanya menjadi sumber belajar
ilmu keIslaman tetapi juga pendidikan dan pembelajaran bermutu, yang dijalankan secara
berkualitas dengan menekankan pada nilai-nilai praktis moral dan karakter yang kuat
termasuk pengembangan program minat, bakat dan ketrampilan sebagai bekal kehidupan
terjun di masyarakat.(2) Strategi Kyai untuk mewujudkan visi dalam menajemen berbasis
sekolah pesantren di SMP Islam Kota Blitar dan SMP Nabawi Maftahul Ulum adalah
adanya komunikasi yang intens serta komunikasi timbal balik melalui pertemuan-pertemuan
rutin dan insidental untuk mendorong dan meyakinkan keterlibatan semua orang di
sekelilingnya agar bersama-sama dapat mencapai dan mewujudkan visi tersebut. Dalam
melaksanakan visi, diatur dulu perencanaan dan pelaksanaan maupun evaluasi disemua
bidang baik terkait dengan sarana-prasarana, proses pembelajaran, SDM dan rekrutmen guru
maupun rekrutmen siswa. (3) Implikasi terhadap pelaksanaan visi Kyai manajemen sekolah
berbasis pesantren di SMP Islam Kota Blitar dan SMP Nabawi Maftahul Ulum yaitu
menyangkut perubahan yang diterapkan Kyai dalam manajemen sekolah di pesantren,
menjadi menjadi acuan setiap warga sekolah khususnya SMP Islam di pesantren
Ibadurrohman dan SMP Nabawi Maftahul Ulum untuk selanjutnya secara umum
dilaksanakannya program pembelajaran materi keIslaman yang dikemas dengan nilai-nilai
praktis penanaman moral pada budaya dan karakter pesantren yang tawadhu’. adanya
program wajib peningkatan implemntasi tahfidzul Qur’an, bahasa arab, inggris, bahasa jawa
praktis dan penguatan materi dasar pembelajaran pengetahuan umum sekolah.
