Organizational culture, leadership style, and job satisfaction have a positive effect on employee performance. To improve the performance of administrative employees, especially the dimensions of cost control and self-reliance initiatives, it requires a bureaucratic leadership style and autocratic leadership style in an open and process-oriented organizational culture system as an effort to improve employee job satisfaction. Keywords: Organizational Culture, Leadership Style, Job Satisfaction, and Employee Performanc

ASSOCIATION BETWEEN SLEEP DISORDERS AND VISION PROBLEMS AMONG FIRST NATIONS PEOPLE

    No full text
Background: Sleep disorders have an adverse effect on the quantity and quality of sleep, leading to reduced alertness and impaired ability to function normally. Recent studies show sleep disorders can cause vision-threatening conditions. Most research has not considered Indigenous people living in on-reserve communities. Thus, current knowledge regarding sleep disorders and vision problems among Indigenous people is limited. Purpose: This study aimed to estimate the current prevalence of vision problems and examined the association between sleep disorders and vision problems among First Nations living on-reserve communities in Saskatchewan. Additionally, potential mediators in this relationship were explored. Methods: This cross-sectional study used baseline data from "Assess, Redress, Re-assess: Addressing Disparities in Sleep Health among First Nations People," an ongoing cohort study. A survey was conducted in 2018-2019 with approximately 588 individuals in two First Nation communities. In the present study, the outcome variable was vision problems. Primary predictors were sleep apnea, insomnia, sleep deprivation, Epworth sleepiness score (ESS), and STOP-BANG. Multivariable logistic regression analysis and generalized structural equation modelling were employed. Results: The prevalence of vision problems was 18.71%. Sleep apnea, clinical insomnia, and ESS were significantly associated with vision problems after adjusting for other variables. The odds of having vision problems were 2.93 times (95% CI: 1.19 – 7.19) higher among those who self-reported physician-diagnosed sleep apnea and 2.21 times (95% CI: 1.12 – 4.37) higher among participants with clinical insomnia. Similarly, with each unit increase in ESS, the likelihood of developing vision problems increased by 1.11 (95% CI: 0.97- 1.28). Mediation analysis revealed that depression accounted for approximately 32% of the association between sleep disorders and vision problems. Conclusion: These findings indicate a higher prevalence of vision problems and a positive association between sleep disorders and vision problems among First Nations people. Longitudinal studies are needed to determine the nature of this association

Data Marketplace Aggregator: a study towards designing Aggregator Business Models for data marketplaces

    No full text
The benefit of secondary use of data leads to the belief that data can be monetized through exchanging and trading between businesses. Many new data marketplaces emerge from this, resulting in the heterogeneity of the data marketplace that leads to market fragmentation in the industry. The aggregator business model can offer various values to users in a fragmented market. Therefore, the idea of designing aggregator business models for data marketplaces could be worthwhile investigating. Design Science Research (DSR) methodology is used in this research. Business model requirements to design aggregator business models were defined in the literature review. The business models of various aggregators are analyzed with case studies. From the requirements and case studies, four new aggregator business archetypes are derived: search engine, advanced search engine, comparison sites, and one-stop shop. These four aggregator business models are distinguished by their service offerings and their degree of the network. It is also discovered from case studies that there is a connection between the degree of network and aggregators' embedded technology. The high degree of network aggregators tend to use API, while the low degree of network aggregators tend to use information crawlers. The aggregator business model archetypes are then demonstrated to the data marketplace cases by translating the business models into business activities and services that can be offered to the users. Then, we evaluate the data marketplace aggregator business model through semi-structured interviews with experts. From the evaluation, it is discovered that data marketplace aggregators could offer value to the users, e.g., navigating users to find data sales and providing a single access point to collect data. Different technology aspects that could help to realize the aggregation services have also been developed by various projects. Additionally, data providers are willing to join the aggregation services due to the economic benefit. However, although the benefit and possibilities, multiple challenges need to be addressed by the data marketplace aggregator. There are issues with technical standardizations and interoperability that could be problematic in integrating various platforms for aggregation. Maintaining collaboration is difficult due to the need to provide data assurance, which could be expensive and exhausting. Additionally, although it is beneficial to navigate users in finding sales, data marketplace aggregators might offer little value to data buyers with market knowledge because they will directly buy the data from the sellers.Management of Technology (MoT

Pendugaan Kemajuan Seleksi Keturunan Saudar Tiri Dan Keturunan Menyerbuk Sendiri Pada Populasi Jagung Bisma*=The Prediction of Half-Sib and SI Families Selection Response in Bisma Variety of Maize*

Abstrak The effectiveness of recurrent selection depends on the selection method used. As a result of empirical and computer simulation, a number author had advocated SI family selection in preference to other forms of family selection. Expected response of selection was first concern of plant breeder. Formerly, the expected SI selection response was estimable with assumption d = 0 or p = q = 0,5 and in recently the prediction of SI selection response might use covariance (HS,S1) without assumption. Bisma variety of maize was used as based population. The randomly chosen of 81 plant used to fertilize four of different females and selfed. All of the families evaluated in Randomized Complete Block Design with three blocks. The data subjected to analysis of variance. The variance analysis of the data was used to estimate the genetic variance and covariance of half-sib and SI family mean was used to prediction of the expected responses of SI selection. The result showed that the additive genetic variance of ear diameter, ear length, plant height, ear height, and dry weight of grain per ear were 0,03

ASPIRE: An Authoring System and Deployment Environment for Constraint-Based Tutors

    No full text
Over the last decade, the Intelligent Computer Tutoring Group (ICTG) has implemented many successful constraint-based Intelligent Tutoring Systems (ITSs) in a variety of instructional domains. Our tutors have proven their effectiveness not only in controlled lab studies but also in real classrooms, and some of them have been commercialized. Although constraint-based tutors seem easier to develop in comparison to other existing ITS methodologies, they still require substantial expertise in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and programming. Our initial approach to making the development easier was WETAS (Web-Enabled Tutor Authoring System), an authoring shell that provided all the necessary functionality for ITSs but still required domain models to be developed manually. This paper presents ASPIRE (Authoring Software Platform for Intelligent Resources in Education), a complete authoring and deployment environment for constraint-based ITSs. ASPIRE consists of the authoring server (ASPIRE-Author), which enables domain experts to easily develop new constraint-based tutors, and a tutoring server (ASPIRE-Tutor), which deploys the developed systems. ASPIRE-Author supports the authoring of the domain model, in which the author is required to provide a high-level description of the domain, as well as examples of problems and their solutions. From this information, ASPIRE generates the domain model automatically. We discuss the authoring process and illustrate it using the development process of CIT, an ITS that teaches capital investment decision making. We also discuss a preliminary study of ASPIRE, and some of the ITSs being developed in it

We describe the design philosophy and the resulting user interface, lessons learned and directions for future research

An information systems approach for the MBA degree in a competitive environment

    No full text
In this paper the author proposes a concept called Entrepreneurial Integrative Thinking ( EIT). It is argued that the concept is capable of producing a more integrated MBA program, and superior MBA graduates better able to handle the increasingly competitive international marketplace. The core of EIT is the idea of a common data map or Information Model, together with strategic use of Information Technology (IT). The Information Model, when internalized, allows a manager to see opportunities and avoid dangers in a manner similar to a successful entrepreneur. The communication enhancing features of the EIT mind-set also has the potential to increase the synergism of management teams
