    PAPR reduction in F-OFDM system by using cluster scrambling code word shifting / Aidatul Julia Abd Jabar and Azlina Idris

    Filtered-OFDM (F-OFDM) is one of the proposed candidate for 5G system. In order to support the diversity in services, it requires the capability to support the multiple asynchronous sub-band transmission. However, the multicarrier transmission systems with different sub-carriers are suffer from high Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR) of the transmit signal. Consequently, the major problem of the F-OFDM system is the high PAPR value in the system that causing the performance degradation due to the various distortions. This paper presents, a method based on manipulation of the codeword by altering its structure known as Cluster Scrambling Codeword (CSC) is proposed to achieve better PAPR reduction. This is a new formulation on bit data sequence shifting technique, which can give better PAPR reduction compared to conventional scheme. The simulations result show that CSC gives 27.08% at 7.0dB which is better PAPR reduction performance compared to the conventional F-OFDM system

    Poynting vector meter is a meter that is used to measure loss density in watt/m2 by multiplying two signals of electric field strength E and magnetic field strength H. The two signals come from a probe consists of a small coil for measuring H and sharp pins for measuring E. The directions of E and H are arranged to be perpendicular to each other in order to omit the effect of sin 0. The report consists of four main parts: Power circuit, Probe, Poynting vector meter ( practical electronic circuit) and Simulation of circuit on computer. To check up the circuit, the probe is fixed on a lossy conductive surface to sense the electric and magnetic field that will be the input to the poynting vector meter circuit and the output will be the loss density in watt / m 2 for different positions of the lossy conductor

    The increasing number of users has led to various challenging issues especially when providing coverage to the users in the building. The indoor coverage deteriorates since the signal cannot pass through the wall completely. The coverage signal will become weaker and affect the Quality of Service to the customers. Operators have tried to overcome this problem by providing small cells (femtocells) inside the building. In this paper, we have investigated the performance of packet scheduling algorithms; Proportional Fairness (PF), Round Robin (RR), Priority Set (PSS), Blind Equal Throughput (BET) and Maximum Throughput (MT) in the LTE environment where a dual stripe block type apartment is included in the network topology. Each apartment is assumed to have two femtocells where each cell is serving five customers. Meanwhile, the number of users in the Macrocell is varied between 50 to 200. Three types of services are delivered during the simulation which are VoIP, video and FTP. The simulations results are presented in the terms of throughput and delay. It can be concluded that PF and RR algorithms are the most compatible to be deployed in the Macrocell-Femtocell environment

    Channel estimation techniques for Multiple-input Multiple-output Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) based on comb type pilot arrangement with least-square error (LSE) estimator was investigated with space-time-frequency (STF) diversity implementation. The frequency offset in OFDM effected its performance. This was mitigated with the implementation of the presented inter-carrier interference selfcancellation (ICI-SC) techniques and different space-time subcarrier mapping. STF block coding in the system exploits the spatial, temporal and frequency diversity to improve performance. Estimated channel was fed into a decoder which combined the STF decoding together with the estimated channel coefficients using LSE estimator for equalization. The performance of the system was compared by measuring the symbol error rate with a PSK-16 and PSK-32. The results show that subcarrier mapping together with ICI-SC were able to increase the system performance. Introduction of channel estimation was also able to estimate the channel coefficient at only 5dB difference with a perfectly known channel

    Self-perceived anxiety symptoms and its associated factors among type 2 diabetic patients in rural communities of Malaysia / Azlina Wati Nikmat, Mohd Ariff Fadzil and Sakinah Idris

    Little is known about anxiety symptoms among diabetic patients, especially among those who are living in rural areas in Malaysia. Thus, the aim of this paper is to investigate the prevalence of anxiety among diabetic patients and factors associated with anxiety in rural communities in Malaysia. Methods: A cross-sectional study involving 464 diabetes mellitus patients in rural health districts and outpatient clinics in Malaysia was conducted. Each participant was interviewed using the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale. Results: Respondents consisted of 193 (41.6%) males and 271 (58.4%) females. The mean age of participants was 59.65 ± 10.16 years and the mean duration of diabetes mellitus was 6.9 ± 6.3 years. Results indicate that 15% of the participants have anxiety symptoms. Multiple logistic regression analysis revealed that patients with history of ischemic heart disease and depression and those who were underweight have higher anxiety scores with adjusted OR 5.06 (95% CI 1.79 to 14.27), 27.71 (95% CI 14.23 to 53.98) and 14.6 (95% CI 2.49 to 84.82), respectively. Conclusions: This study suggests that although the prevalence of anxiety among diabetics is low, primary care physician should be trained to identify high risk patients and to manage their condition in order to improve the clinical outcome

    Encik Wan Idris bin Wan Ibrahim merupakan Timbalan Presiden Persatuan Persatuan Alumni UiTM Sarawak - MITSA. Beliau dilahirkan pada 3 Oktober 1968. Berkelayakkan dalam Ijazah Sarjana Pengurusan Perniagaan UiTM Cawangan Sarawak. Sebelum ini beliau merupakan bekas alumni ITM di Shah Alam. Kenangan manis beliau adalah apabila berjumpa dengan rakan-rakan lama yang suatu ketika dulu mengambil jurusan yang sama. Beliau berpendapat bahawa UiTM telah banyak membantu dalam mencorak keperibadian profesionalisme diri seorang pelajar. Bagi beliau UiTM Cawangan Sarawak pula telah menyediakan tenaga pengajar serta pembelajaran yang kondusif serta suasana yang sesuai untuk pembangunan ilmu

    Pembangunan sesebuah komuniti dalam masyarakat khususnya dari segi mobiliti sosial adalah dipengaruhi oleh pemilikan modal budaya, sosial dan juga ekonomi. Artikel ini membincangkan tentang modal budaya yang dimiliki pekebun kecil getah RISDA dan tahap mobiliti sosial yang dicapai. Survei dijalankan ke atas 50 orang responden yang terdiri daripada pekebun kecil getah di Alor Gajah, Melaka. Sampel kajian dipilih menggunakan kaedah persampelan bertujuan. Kajian mendapati modal budaya individu, keluarga dan institusi merupakan aset dan dapat dimanfaatkan oleh pekebun kecil getah dalam aktiviti ekonomi mereka. Tahap pemilikan modal budaya pekebun kecil adalah tinggi dengan skor min antara 4.08 hingga 4.44 pada 25 item yang disenaraikan. Dari segi tahap mobiliti sosial yang diukur berasaskan ukuran status sosio-ekonomi pula didapati pekebun kecil getah mengalami mobiliti sosial ke atas atau menegak. Kesimpulannya, sesebuah komuniti dapat menikmati kesejahteraan hidup apabila individu masyarakat percaya bahawa dengan peluang yang ada mereka boleh memperbaiki kualiti hidup mereka bersama anak-anak melalui kebolehan, bakat dan usaha mereka sendiri
