Solvent Effects on the Thermodynamics and Kinetics of Coralyne Self-Aggregation
The role of solvent effects on the thermodynamics and kinetics of the coralyne self-aggregation process has been investigated in ethanol-water mixtures of different compositions. The changes in the UV/visible spectra of coralyne and FAB/LSIMS mass spectrometry agreed well with the formation of a dimer species. ID and 2D (1)H experiments have allowed one to look into the features of the self-aggregation process and to determine the equilibrium constant and the Delta H degrees and Delta S degrees values for the aggregate formation in 0-50% ethanol-water mixtures. The kinetics of self-aggregation has been investigated by the T-jump chemical relaxation method, and the results have been interpreted in terms of dimer formation. The dependence of the relative viscosity of coralyne solutions on the dye concentration was studied in different ethanol-water mixtures. Finally, it was found that coralyne behaves as a solvatochromic indicator which is preferentially solvated according to the sequence ethanol > ethanol-water > water. All of the results concur in elucidating the relevant role of the hydrophobic interaction process of coralyne stack formation

Thermodynamics and kinetics of the nickel(II)-salicylhydroxamic acid system. Phenol rotation induced by metal ion binding
The kinetics and the equilibria of Ni(II) binding to p-hydroxybenzohydroxamic acid (PHBHA) and salicylhydroxamic acid (SHA) have been investigated in an aqueous solution at 25 degrees C and I = 0.2 M by the stopped-flow method. Two reaction paths involving metal binding to the neutral acid and to its anion have been observed. Concerning PHBHA, the rate constants of the forward and reverse steps are k(1) = (1.9 +/- 0.1) x 10(3) M-1 s(-1) and k(-1) = (1.1 +/- 0.1) x 10(2) s(-1) for the step involving the undissociated PHBHA and k(2) = (3.2 +/- 0.2) x 10(4) M-1 s(-1) and k(-2) = 1.2 +/- 0.2 s(-1) for the step involving the anion. Concerning SHA, the analogous rate constants are k(1) = (2.6 +/- 0.1) x 10(3) M-1 s(-1), k(-1) = (1.3 +/- 0.1) x 10(3) s(-1), k(2) = (5.4 +/- 0.2) x 10(3) M-1 s(-1), and k(-2) = 6.3 +/- 0.5 s(-1). These values indicate that metal binding to the anions of the two acids concurs with the Eigen-Wilkins mechanism and that the phenol oxygen is not involved in the chelation. Moreover, a slow effect was observed in the SHA-Ni(II) system, which has been put down to rotation of the benzene ring around the C-C bond. Quantum mechanical calculations at the B3LYP/lanL2DZ level reveal that the phenol group in the most stable form of the Ni(II) chelate is in trans position relative to the carbonyl oxygen, contrary to the free SHA structure, where the phenol and carbonyl oxygen atoms both have cis configuration. These results bear out the idea that the complex formation is coupled with phenol rotation around the C-C bond
Stabilization of Al(III) solutions by complexation with cacodylic acid: speciation and binding features
Aluminium ions are believed to play a role in a number of neurological and skeletal disorders in the human
body. The study of the biological processes and molecular mechanisms that underlie these pathological
disorders is rendered a difficult task due to the wide variety of complex species that result from the hydrolysis
of Al3+ ions. In addition, this ion displays a pronounced tendency to precipitate as a hydroxide, so certain
complexing agents should be envisaged to stabilize Al(III) solutions in near physiological conditions. In this
work, we show that the common buffer cacodylic acid (dimethylarsinic acid, HCac) interacts with Al(III) to
give stable complexes, even at pH 7. After preliminary analyses of the speciation of the metal ion and also of
the ligand, a systematic study of the formation of different Al/Cac complexes at different pH values has been
conducted. UV-Vis titrations, mass spectrometry NMR measurements and DTF calculations were performed
to enlighten the details of the speciation and stoichiometry of Al/Cac complexes. The results altogether show
that Al/Cac dimer complexes prevail, but monomer and trimer forms are also present. Interestingly, it was
found that cacodylate promotes the formation of such relatively simple complexes, even under conditions
where the polymeric form, Al13O4(OH)24
7+, should predominate. The results obtained can help to shed some
light into the reactivity of aluminium ions in biological environments
A APOTEOSE ERÓTICA DE CLAUDIO RODRÍGUEZ FER
The purpose of this article is to present “Only the apotheosis”, the first part of the work Uma temporada no paraíso of the Galician poet Claudio Rodríguez Fer. For this purpose, I will show some poems in which the erotic theme, social commitment, and libertarian utopia predominate. In addition to A double call Octavio Paz, I will use as a theoretical basis the studies of specialists in this author, such as Saturnino Valladares, Olga Novo, and Natalia Regueiro. Of great thematic richness, the micro poems of “Somente a apoteose” maintain the characteristics that refer to the poet as a pioneer in the treatment of eroticism in Galician literature.O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar “Somente a apoteose”, primeira parte da obra Uma temporada no paraíso do poeta galego Claudio Rodríguez Fer. Reason: Author requested U of Illinois access only (OA after 2yrs) in Vireo ETD systemOpenWhen it comes to looking at the African American males’ conception of manhood, there is a need for future research exploring the entire life span in order to get a better understanding of the socialization process that takes place as well as shifts in masculinity ideology that will occur throughout the course of a lifespan. In order to understand the traumatic experiences that are attributed to the intersectionality of race and gender for African American males, it is necessary that we begin to examine the socialization settings as much as the socialization process in order to full comprehend the influence that masculinity has during the adolescent stage of development. The purpose of this study is to explore the socialization of masculinity for African American adolescent males enrolled in a youth intervention program in Illinois. In order to explore such a phenomenon, the research design utilized qualitative methods, specifically an observational case study (Bogdan & Biklen, 2011) composed of a participant observations, a questionnaire, and focus groups in order to acquire natural, rich data that will provide answers to the guiding research questions:
1. How do they define what it means to be man?
2. What social agents have shaped their definition of what it means to be a man?
3. How has their perception of what it means to be a man impacted their lives?Submission published under a 24 month embargo labeled 'U of I only', the embargo will last until 2017-08-01The student, Saturnino Rodriguez, accepted the attached license on 2015-07-24 at 09:47.The student, Saturnino Rodriguez, submitted this Thesis for approval on 2015-07-24 at 09:52.This Thesis was approved for publication on 2015-07-24 at 10:28.DSpace SAF Submission Ingestion Package generated from Vireo submission #8640 on 2015-09-29 at 15:01:0
Fluorescent imidazolium-based poly(ionic liquid)s for Fe3+ detection in aqueous medium
Novel fluorescent solid sensors for Fe detection in aqueous medium have been developed by photopolymerization of N-vinylpyrrolidone (VP), butyl acrylate (BA) and imidazolium-based ionic liquids obtained by anion change (Br, BF, TFSI and PF). The correlation between the hydrophilicity and the stability of the membranes was established, as well as the influence of the anion in their behavior. The resulting fluorescent sensors undergo fluorescence quenching upon binding iron ions. This study provides a convenient method to obtain PILs sensors easy to use and reusable, with high selectivity and sensitivity. This study was supported by MINECO (Project Ref. MAT2017-88923)
Inability to undertake essential marital obligations and total and partial simulation in the unpublished judgment of Emanuele Saturnino da Costa Gomes of March 1, 2022
Zaprezentowane opracowanie jest komentarzem do niepublikowanego wyroku c. Emanuele Saturnino da Costa Gomes z 1 marca 2022 r.
The presented study is a commentary on the unpublished judgment of c. Emanuele Saturnino da Costa Gomes of March 1, 2022. The author discussed in detail the structure of the judgment in question: the course of the case, legal and factual reasons. The presen- ted judgment is an example of the increasingly common practice in Poland of appealing against judgments in the first instance directly to the Tribunal of the Roman Rota. This phenomenon, unprecedented on such a scale, may raise the question of the ratio legis of can. 1444 § 1 n. 1 CIC/83 in the context of can. 1438 n. 1-2 CIC/83, that is, the order of the degrees of appeal. Without denying the right of the faithful to consider their cases in the Holy See, and even transfer them there at every stage of the proceedings and at every stage of the dispute, it should be emphasized that the normal appellate tribunal for suffragal dioceses is the metropolitan tribunal, and for the metropolitan tribunal another diocesan court, which approved by the Holy See. Therefore, appealing against the judgments of the first instance directly to the Tribunal of the Roman Rota seems to be an extraordinary procedure, demanding some special reasons. Reducing the papal tribunal to the role of an ordinary court of second instance may raise doubts of a systemic nature

Using tableaux to automate the Lambek and other Categorial Calculi
We argue that, although labelled deduction can be quite costly in general, the complexity of keeping track of the label constraints built to encode the structure of the proofs does not necessarily render the strategy impractical. The point is illustrated with LLKE, a tableaux system for specification and test of categorial grammars. The paper presents and discusses the application of theorem proving in labelled analytic tableaux to Natural Language Processing (NLP), describes algorithms and rules for tableau generation, introduces a new labelchecking strategy and identify places where the complexity of the task can be tamed.
